1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Nostalgia for the first dolly crushes & reshelling back to the original

Apr 2, 2024

    1. Almost a decade ago, I had thought that the Fairyland Pukifee Bonnie was just so precious! I knew a little about bjds from a family member who was in the hobby, but I hadn’t gotten into it myself. She was part of the reason why I actually started to collect (but it was many years later that I started). I finally got her a while ago, and that started my collecting journey! I still find her adorable to this day.

    2. Do you also have such a crush?
Oh, I had so many xD I made a video about it some years ago and counting the dolls I listed there... there's 29??? I didn't realise there's so many lol

If you wanna know how I rated each of the sculpts you can watch the video but the one doll that comes to my head right now is my most recent purchase - a CP Delf Breakaway 08 vampire head. Most of the dolls I wanted I've either since (1) changed my taste/gotten over the doll crush with time, (2) currently do own, (3) once own but since sold them. Only the Breakaway is in the 4th category: I still want him hahah, and I kept going back to look at old photos of him until I eventually managed to buy one at a price I could afford at the time.

I've not had a doll that I've sold that I've wanted to own again, because I'm usually quite clear about why a sculpt is no longer for me before I sell it. And so far the reason has remained relevant and I've not wanted to buy the doll back again, though I do get tempted from time to time (and then I remind myself why it didn't work out the first time and I just look at other owners' photos xD)

What makes this head/doll so special for you?
I think old CP sculpts have a special place in my heart since my first doll is from them (Dreaming Lishe boy), and I learnt about them early in the hobby and wanted so many of their sculpts. And somehow over the years their physical look is still very appealing to me and I suppose there might be a sprinkle of nostalgia about it. I'm currently working on my BA's faceup and it's brought back up some of the excitement I used to have when I got my first doll, so I think that's probably why as well :)

    3. Do you also have such a crush?
Dream of Doll DoT Homme Duncan

Did you actually get to own it and then sold? If so, have you reshelled your character back to it?
or... have you chosen not to rebuy the head/doll? Why not?

I never got the doll back in the day, because I was in high school and didn't have the money. However, I had few other dolls from DoD that I found second hand. I have sold these dolls. Later in life I have seen Duncan on second hand market few times, but I really don't see myself buying Duncan as my grails have changed over the years. The sculpt does not really go with the current vibe I have in my group and I can see other hobbyists' Duncans online. I love seeing the doll, but I think as for me I would have the doll just to sit in my bookshelf out of nostalgia. Still Duncan will be always that sculpt that makes me smile.

What makes this head/doll so special for you?
It was the BJD that got me into the hobby. I saw Duncan while I was doing Google search on something EGL clothing related. If i remember right I had seen BJDs before, because they were kinda popular to bring in conventions back in the day. However, I never really looked into them more. When I saw Duncan I went down to a BJD rabbit hole and it got me hooked. That was around 2008 or 2009. Everytime I see this doll it gives me this feel of nostalgia.
