Not anatomically correct...

The only thing that made me so unhappy I had to sell a doll on was the neck on Mecha Angel Saiph. It was beyond tall, and her little head perched ontop added to the problem. Every time I saw her I thought "Pinhead".

The muscleman and huge boob bodies simply are nothing I would buy in the first place.

 

Feet. To my mind, at least, all the sculpts I've personally encountered seem to have feet which are too small for their bodies - AoD old-style boy body, we're looking at you.

 

I can accept long skinny legs and emaciated male bodies, after all that's quite a fashionable look, but what sometimes gets on my nerves when I'm looking for a new doll is the anime style nose that seems to be on a lot of sculpts like an unfortunate symptom of resin leprosy. I mean the teeny tiny blade thin bridgeless pointy little nose that nobody on Earth, except those paying their plastic surgeon's mortgage, was given by God. There have been loads of times I've been browsing through doll sites and thought I'd found another to buy but dismissed her because although she has the body of a fully adult goddess and beautiful eyes she has a nose like a little toe.

Also, I totally agree with the people talking about wieners, why is it ok for girls to have huge porn star beasts on their skinny little ribcages, but a male doll in the same range is only allowed to have the wedding tackle of a leprechaun? Isn't equality one of the buzzwords of this millenium?

 

Ooh, can't believe I haven't seen this thread before.

First of all, leg length! Doom! I think all the SD dolls/boys i've looked at have had too long legs. I think it's all right with very stylized dolls, but when eg. a company like Soom puts so much effort and detail into making a beautifully sculpted torso, it's a shame that it only constitutes one third of the body length. D:

Then arms. Too skinny arms. Especially on Super Gems, they seem to be out of proportion. I had a doll that was to be a tattooed rockabilly mechanic/gangster, and he looked like the silly macho stickman. :/ In extension of this, I think the SG hands are pretty big for the circumference of the arms. Like shovels, I think. ^^; But that's just my opinion.

Length of neck. Super Gem again ... but it goes for other companies/molds as well. It irks me.

Also, sometimes I think that the heads are pretty big compared to the bodies. There are a couple of companies where the heads are very big (to be just, usually these companies only make heads, and not bodies) - 10 inch circumference or similar.

Finally, and this is maybe at the other end of the scale - sometimes I think muscular definition goes overboard. I like the EID body and the representation on eg. super gems, but some of the SDF/SSDF bodies seem to have muscles that do not exist in reality. I'm not expert, but still.

 

I pretty immune to the large breasts from too much anime. Only dolls like some of the DD girls and those Dollmore 'lingerie' Model Dolls really register to me as too large.

I don't like it when male dolls have too much muscle detail, especially on the scrawny bodies. Oversized hands I'm not too fond of either.

 

Things I dislike:

The Mecha Angel boys and girls. They look like they've been put through a taffy pulller, or that they should be starring in a remake of Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Used to have some on my wish list (heads are beautiful), but ultimately couldn't live with the proportions.
I bought a friend a Leeke boy's head for a gift. Gorgeous fellow, but she's looking for anything but a Leeke body to put him on because that head is way too big for the body and the body is too kid-looking for the head.
The Unidoll pencil neck. Not a bad body on the whole, but that scrawny chicken neck and too light arms ruin it for me.
The Raurencio body. Upper body not bad, but those thigh muscles aren't anything that exists in nature.
The Souldoll Soulkid girls. Those huge boobies with those young little faces. Just wrong.
The Dollshe DSAM18 body. Mr. Dollshe, humans are the primates whose arms don't come down almost to their knees!
My BBB MSD girl-love her, but she's Cylinder Limbs of Doom and Queen of the Zombies Hands. Her mature-bodied BBB friend is the Watermelon Queen.

Things I like:

The Iple EID boys and girls. Would love to have a medium breast Asa and a model body Tedros.
Dragondoll Uncle body. That is one gorgeous hunk of resin for the price. Have had my hands on this one and was truly impressed.
Spiritdoll new version male body. Like this one almost as well, though the slope of the neck looks slightly off.
Everpurple Iris (girl version). She's more than a bit knock-kneed and I don't care for the hands, but I love that torso! That's what a 14-year-old girl looks like.

 

This. So very much. Even when they have some effort at sculpting they usually look to small. And I just sort of feel bad for the boys.

Also lack of testicles. I had a Cherishdoll body that just did not have them. Just a butt crack that ran all the way to the back of his junk. So very, very distressing, because the rest of the sculpt was quite lovely.

That said I have no problem with big hooters that look like they always are in a bra. Doll tits can not be put into a bra so I would rather have them sculpted in bra shape. I also don't have any real issues with the size to skinny ratio, but I wold like to see some bigger hips to balance the chest. There are some "Boobs don't work that way" sculpts out there (Bobobie comes to mind), but it just is not a huge issue with me.

That said, I don't really care if the dolls are super stylized, as long as it works with the overall image of the doll. The taffy puller look of the Mecha Angels is fine with me. As is the bobble head of SD10 Nono. I'll save anatomically correct for my life drawing class. Dolls can be stylized and weird looking.

 

Might bigger boy-junk interfere with the posing of the legs though? And the fitting of pants?
I don't have any boys so I don't know, but yeah.. seems like it could get in the way. I mean, boobs get in the way of girl-posing sometimes. This is hard resin, not squishy skin, compensations have to be made.
Anyway I think the shape of most of the penises I've seen looks just fine. Maybe some of you just haven't seen an uncircumcised penis before?

 

I have all boys and I haven't noticed their junk getting in the way of posing. I've got 3 AoD's, BTW, and they are pretty generous in the package department. My RS is nicely equiped but I don't think he's as well endowed as my AoD boys. My CD is probably the smallest of them, but you can still tell that he has some junk in the front.

 

I honestly don't care when the proportions are off; they are stylised art after all XD However, I can think of four specific things that bother me.

1. Why do my boys not have adam's apples? They're so buff and have neck tendons and all, but no adam's apple? Really?
2. The souldoll centaur looks fine to me except for the shallow chest. From certain angles it looks like another human chest with horsey legs.
3. The souldoll Grey drives me nuts. I've been longing for a realistic dog BJD, and was overjoyed to see him. It's not the small head that bothers me... I work at a kennel and see dogs in every shape, size and build imaginable; many dogs have small heads. The way the legs bend just squicks me right out. I think it's because the paws aren't jointed. But I mean, oh god, dog legs just do /not/ work that way.
4. Resinsoul 44cm girls look like the head and body was sculpted seperately, and then someone realized the head was a shade oversized for the tiny sylphlike body but just did not care.

 

The proportions of the majority of BJDs and even some anthros don't bother me and I find them aesthetically pleasing. However when heads or chests are noticably out of proportions or they are just *too* thin then it bothers me from a little to a lot. About fantasy parts I find they proportions to be alright and I think the majority of people won't be *that* familiar with the animal to notice all the differences and for it to bother them. Personally I think most of the fantasy BJDs I've seen to be appealing and I can see why people love them. I don't think I've ever seen a anatomically correct BJD and I actually think I prefer it that way.

1.BIG BOOBS THAT COULD OUT-SIZE MARS! good god of mercy! I can see it on some dolls..But most of the time it annoys me to see inflated boobs! it's like they're helium balloons that are ready to explode or pop e.o;
2.GREY THE DOG! horrible HORRIBLE leg joints! dogs in no reality have such leg joints as grey! i do alot of animal-esque portaits and spend hours studying their anatomy, and grey's joints are not possible in the world of real dogs! I wish they could have taken inspiration from Obistu's THEDog thing, whom pose amazingly and pretty naturally.
3.Boys with really big bums....pants never seem to agree with them xD

 

Yes some dolls bother me with their a little too weird or inacurate anatomy, like male minifees, their baby faces and culturistic bodys..D:

 

uhm.....the male Dolls.....their penises don't look really good. Ok I shouldn't be too detailed but many of them looks odd......... and it bothers me when i think of it even i know they wear the most of the time some clothes. But to know it is ........ bad for me^^''' and the Knee'. It depends on the way of their joint's but there are knees which look too unreal for me >.<

So.... Spiritdoll have good.... male Parts (xD) but their knees look horible even they can sit better....
Did anyone have ever found a Boy with goodlooking body's? I mean these parts are mostly pixeled at the stores sites.... so it's hard to decide if they would appeal me.

Ack - My Custom House Junior has a blob that is supposedly a penis....? I'm still trying to work out exactly HOW its meant to resemble one - that is bugging me.... I feel that his dominant male character is in desperate need of another body. Not that anyone ever sees it but when I see him dressed and standing on my shelf looking all broody and masculine.... I cringe inwardy and think "whatever mate... don't come at me with expression... you're not all virile - you have a squashed barnacle for a doodle..."

Yeah a little more detail would be nice - I prefer details on my male dolls..... not GRAPHIC details but vague references to the shapes that should be there belong on ken-dolls... Thank heavens for Soom's Monzo if it werent for his back-plugs he'd be the perfect male doll IMO

What bugs me is how "small breast" seems to mean none at all. :/ Bleck...

 

Sometimes I wish that girl dolls nipples werent always pointy. :/ Its not cold all the time. It doesn't have to look like it.

 

I'd like more of a choice of child-proportioned dolls in SD size.

At the moment, if I find a nice child-like head sculpt in that size, I'm severely restericted as to which companie's bodies I can even look at to find one to go with it, many of them are too mature. In fact, as I've considered more than once, I'd have an easier time modding the penis off a boy body to get the right proportions for a female child.

Other than that - the exageratedly long legs and skinny necks can make dolls look deformed to me, especially if the neck is very long as well as very skinny.

The only thing I've ever found that makes me feel a bit nit-picky is "bobble headed-ness". In some cases I find it's just enough to be bearable, sometimes endearing. But at others, it's obvious enough to slightly put me off a sculpt. That's just my oppinion though : ) I know tons of people who love the bobble head look.

 

Personally I dislike the looooonnnng legs that some of the sculpt have and the extremely busty woman bug me.

However I LOVE my Zaoll sculpt!! She has reasonably wide hips, nicely shaped boobs that in my opinion are realistic enough to not bother me and still nicely shaped enough to make them look good under a shirt, nice normal sized hands and feet and a little pookie tummy that looks natural. My only complaint is that from the side her butt is a little flat.

Then again I might be a little partial =)
