Not anatomically correct...

Nov 27, 2009

    1. For them nature(yes its a doll with human form) us think that are perfect we need normal proportions, and complete traits as all of us. But all of them are on average(all with human form no exacly provided but human aspect)

Forget me but i see at sculpt
exceptions at fantastic(bizarre?) creations them are "Not anatomically correct" for me

    2. The breasts and nose. When I saw Ariadoll Serena, I was like wow. The underwear fitted her perfectly, then I saw her nude photo, it was unbearable!!! I suppose in real life your boobs are supported by your bra, but the dolls have boobs sculpted like the ones already supported by bras so dressing is far more easier. And the nose, a few sculpts that I once thought beautifully realistic were dethroned as I realised that the nose's width is only one third of the eyes' widths. In real life, eyes and noses have about the same width. It will be a lot nicer if eyes are made smaller and noses a tad bigger.

    3. biggest complaints:

~boys with tiny penises that have no detail (I'm looking at YOU Ringdoll Teen and BlueBlood!) All of my Sd boys and all but one of my MSD boys are adult characters, so it really bothers me that their "parts" are so childish and/or under detailed. The rest is so nice, why not that?
~Girls with no details down below. My ResinSoul girls don't even have the generic "line". Not a thing.
~ResinSoul T-Rex arms. Maybe they aren't out of proportion, but to me the arms look WAY too short.
~huge eyes with tiny noses, as Allie says. The nose on some dolls looks "pinched", like a bad nose job.
~super skinny girls. Sure, a lot of girls ARE skinny irl, but I like a girl with curves. More dolls should have that option.

    4. Ever since I bought Ein, a Kid Delf, and also looked around at SD sized boys, I have ALWAYS thought that their penises look too small ._. Or is it just me?

    5. Sometimes when I look at nude dolls (particularly small-breasted ones) I feel like the boobs are funny shaped... and then I remember once they're clothed it's probably better if they actually look like they're wearing a bra, so it's only a moment of being bothered XD

I really like the unrealistic proportions of some dolls. I guess I just like the thin long-legged look (I grew up with CLAMP being my idols... might have something to do with it)

    6. Big heads, narrow shoulders. I wish they weren't like that. It's always bothered me how narrow all the dolls' shoulders are, save for some 70-cm ultra-realistic 1000 dollar man dolls. I know I'm exxagerating. That may be one of the reasons I prefer SDs though. (says the girl who bought a slim MSD and a yo-SD...)

Really though, big penises and realistic boobs don't work. A big penis will be in the way of the pants (think of a penis that's rubbed a hole into the front of the pants and shows through it :doh), and hanging boobs will stop working when you need the doll to look like they're wearing a bra.

    7. When animal dolls are REALLY incorrect, that bothers me. Like Souldoll's dog bjd. Just WTF?
But I kinda like seeing different body styles on a human BJD, like Doll Chateau's and Leeke's newer girls with the big 'ol hips. I think I myself just really enjoy unique dolls. :)
Though I will admit, doll companies REALLY need to make their boobs a bit more realistic...Some are just way too perky.

    8. I don't mind stylization at all - some elongated limbs or fingers or whatnot can add a touch of elegance. Companies can definitely overdo it though.

I definitely notice some bobble-head-ness as well, like on my minifee boy. It doesn't really bother me though since it fits with his aesthetic, but I do ponder it once in a while. I'm a biologist, I can't help it XD

The SIZE of boobs doesn't really bother me, but oftentimes the SHAPE does. There is a lot of sculpts where it looks like someone just stuck them on as an afterthought, or gave implants in. Even tiny boobs like my own have a natural slope on the tops. I like the minifee, feeple 65, and Iplehouse boobs - they are doing it right.

      Other random things...
-The anime nose - as in, it's just a pointy triangle attached to the resin. Creeps me out for some reason.
-The Chiron centaur horse part - Why does he not have any ribs? Gives me the chills thinking about it (again, I'm a biologist, and I own horses...XD) And the Souldoll dog....eeeegh
-Fantasy bits that just wouldn't work...I know it's a fantasy doll, but how would the soom Nephelon's wings bend...or move...or anything? But I like the claws, and paws, and wings-for-arms that they do. The wings-for-arms especially make biological sense, even if they're too small for real flight.

    9. Doll nipples. Not only are they almost always sculpted like it's below freezing in the room, but a lot of times they are waaaaaay out of proportion to the rest of the body! I've had girls arrive to me with nipples over 2mm long. 2mm!:barf Not to mention the positioning of the nipples. They always seem to point straight up into the sky instead of straight forward.):<

    10. the very reason I can't stand chicline large breasts xD I prefer a kind of inbetween. I don't want my doll to look like it's NEVER wearing a bra since it will spend most of its time dressed. but I don't want it to look like it's ALWAYS wearing one either, just in case I might want to shoot her naked/topless. or simply because I will think it looks retarted everytime I change her xD that might be wig I prefer smaller breasts.....

-really narrow shoulders. it looks great on the new iplehouse body because it gives her a beautiful figure overall, but I'm afraid most heads will look too big on this body!
-when the hands are too small or WAY too big.
-incredibly slim noses. dolls like Soom Euclase almost have a 2D nose, it's pretty ugly when you're looking at them straight in the face.
-almost nipples. like soom girls have.... it's only visible when you are really looking for it, and under the right light. it's good for clothes though. limhwa look pretty funny dressed xD

I always thought his horse body look anorexic!

and Soom Epidos' horse body.... it looks too small!!! it looks like they put the upper half of a human on a pony rather than a horse

    11. Lol the souldoll centaur... that is the most emaciated horse body ever. Everything about the horse anatomy looks weird as hell. I've never seen a horse that had no barrel at all and only horses positive for HYPP get crazy flanks like that.

Additionally, Dollshes. Dollshe faces and bodies are just... terrifying to me. They're anatomically wrong in a way that makes them horribly creepy. I mean, I love Doll Chateau's skinny stylized dolls, and I should be able to love the dollshes too, but I just... Urk. I don't even know, but something about them... They look like aliens in the face and then their skinny, definition-less bodies... LKdjfl;s

Speaking of Doll Chateau: I really do love DC dolls, and I was sooo happy they were coming out with 60 CM boys... But I can't buy one. That long, pencil neck just throws the whole thing off for me. XD I guess I'm gonna stick to my plan of getting a Pierre.

ETA: In regards to all the complaints about the boy dolls having small junk... Have any of you ever seen a greek statue? I mean if you want to see small junk...... (but they thought big wieners were unsightly back then)
But honestly, I think having massive man-parts would make posing and clothing the doll problematic. Perhaps some companies should come out with removable huge junk or something. XD

    12. Having had a while go by, I have new things that get to me now. XD

My biggest ordeal now is that if something is normally going to be visible, make it move right.

The centaur bodies (both Souldoll and Soom) still bug me as much as before. Soom less than Souldoll, because the belly and all is a bit thicker. But there's something that really bugs me about those legs. Now to me it seems that the legs were just kind of stuck on the bottom of a horse body shape without any thought to where the actual horse would have it's joints. Like if at least another inch or two of the horse's rear end was involved in the joint, it would make sense to me.
Though, maybe it's a structural thing. Maybe they did not think the legs would stay correct if they made a joint out of the femur area. But starting with movement in the tibia instead of the femur is kinda weird.

What's gotten me more lately, particularly as I'm looking for a more runner type girl body for one of my heads. is the bodies that look like someone just kind of guessed anatomy. Like the ones that do a three part torso but while the hip and bust may look awesome, they stuck a totally randomly thin tube between them.

Weirdly, I'd like to see a female chest that had separate parts for the boobs. Maybe they could fit through some kind of peg hole so they could be hanging at rest or put into a bra and pushed up.
Hm. Soom is having to send me a replacement chest part (my girl arrived with a broken rotator cuff), maybe if they don't want the old part shipped back I might have a weird mod project to try out.

    13. I noticed a lot of people saying that boobs bothered them, so I thought I'd speak up...
I don't really mind them. I them to be perky, as long at they aren't unnaturally pressed together like a push-up bra.
Sure, normal human beings don't have breasts like that, but since my dolls are going to be dressed most the time, it feels better to me that they look like they have bras on. Unless it's a very skinny doll, with a small chest. Then they can hang any way, because it would make more sense for a girl that size to not wear a bra.

Nipples of steal bother me too. XD
I hate seeing dolls with nipples so pronounced you can see them through their clothing... It's terrifying, looks like they stepped out of a hentai. But at least nipples can be sanded down pretty easy. :3

Umm, lets see... huge anime eyes bug me, but that's more an aesthetics thing than it is an anatomy thing. I think most anatomy issues can be just fine, as long as they look like they're supposed to be that way. Like how Doll Chateau has those CRAZY bodies, but it's just their style. So I think the long legged BJD thing just goes with that... It's a style that's pretty widespread, going off of the bishie thing.

    14. I really don't like figure like a pear. Wide hips are the ugliest on BJD for me but I understand if someone like it :)

    15. Actually there is a company (possibly two? Can't remember, will go look) that DOES make a body with interchangeable bits. And there used to be a customizer who made one that fit on over the existing bits if you wanted that sort of shoot. I think they're gone, or the forum decided that it was inappropriate, but meh.

Some of my peeves have changed a bit, but I still enjoy the long legs on my dolls. I have measured several times since I stopped getting taller and my legs are almost twice the length of the rest of my body, if you measure from the hip down. So long legs and a short torso actually look sort of normal to me. XD

I am still stuck on the abnormally large boobs on super skinny bodies. Yes I know it happens in reality, but none of the girls I know with that figure appreciate it. They're always trying to down-play them, or having shoulder and back problems or they're just sick of them and wish to take them off and put them on a shelf. So I really don't like the look. Some dolls pull it off nicely, like the Iplehouse girls. But they aren't as super-skinny, even though I could wish they had a slightly bigger waist, but I haven't seen one in person, just in photos. Maybe in person it isn't as narrow but in photos it looks TINY.

Really big eyes do put me off a head sculpt though. It just freaks me out a bit. I am all for unnatural anime type faces, but there is such a thing as too big and that just makes me cringe from it.

    16. DoA has never decided that something of this nature was inappropriate. There may have been Gallery threads deemed inappropriate for a 13+ forum.

    17. Well its been a while since I saw the thread, it may still exist, but I haven't looked for it in a long time. I did say "I think".

    18. Honestly? Anatomical correctness isn't that big a deal for me. I do prefer dolls with nipples, but genitals aren't necessary or even desirable. It's not like I want to have sex with my dolls (especially since they're 1/6 scale).

One of the things I like best about Chaeri is the fact that she has well-defined collarbones, a real rib cage, and even shoulder blades. The lower part of her torso isn't as defined--she has a butt, but no lady bits--but since I don't have her sitting around naked and it's not a big thrill for me to pull her panties down in public, it's a non-issue for me. She does have lovely detailed legs and feet, so she can go barefoot if she's of a mind to do so.

The ironic thing is that torso detail is even showing up in playline Barbie dolls. No nipples (yet), but the newest Fashionistas have abdominal curves, buttocks, and even a mons veneris. (Then again, the original Barbies had nipples before the company decided that was a little too much realism and started sanding them down before they left the factories...) It's possible that the trend towards realism is a response to expectations brought about by the details present in BJDs. Of course, I could be wrong, and I'm sure there are those who will be quick to enlighten me. It's just a thought.

    19. Mine female doll just has a little slit for her lower region... it's not that correct.

    20. I am not the most observant so subtle things that are 'off' in anatomy won't faze me. The things I tend to notice the most are unrealistic breast size/shape especially in proportion with the body, dolls that are too skinny for their height and incomplete male packages <-I don't know why but it really bothers me.
