Q. How many new/or second hand dolls did you buy in your first year of doll collecting?
I bought one second hand doll

Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?
I think the second-third year was the most. At any rate, I got my first doll in Nov 2010 and by that time 2014 I had almost as many dolls as I have to this day. (I think my count in 2014 or 2015 was between 20-25 dolls?)

At last count a couple months ago it was 30, and I am refining/ reducing so it will probably be less in the near future

None

Q. How many dolls or doll related items did you sell off or plan to sell off?
Hard to say. I have sold and given to others many lots of previous handmade clothes and other second hand items. I've also sold any doll I no longer liked to have (and given at least one as a gift), or chose to reduce for housekeeping/ financial reasons, which might be around 1/3 of all the dolls I ever owned? But I don't really wish to count and haven't before.

Three new dolls, none secondhand. Of the three, I bought two and one was a gift.

Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?
I have been in the hobby for almost 15 years and buying quite a few each year, so that's hard to say. Probably around 2011-2012, so my third and fourth year. I still buy quite a few each year, but also sell often.

16 complete, or 18, including the one paid but not shipped and the floating head.

Q. How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off?
I have one paid off but not shipped yet, and a body shipped but not arrived.

Q. How many dolls or doll related items did you sell off or plan to sell off?
I honestly can't answer this question. Most of my dolls don't stay with me longer than a couple of years, many only about 6 months or so. I don't enjoy a big collection, but I like changing things up often. All of the dolls I've sold plus all doll clothes, wigs, shoes, accessories, etc I'm sure is in the hundreds if not over a thousand at this point. I have 434 individual feedbacks here on DoA, and that doesn't even count the stuff I've bought/sold on eBay, Instagram and in person at doll meets and conventions. It's....a lot.

 

1: I want to think... 4 dolls? in the first year, then it snowballed from there. I was very very active buying in my early years in the hobby. At one point I owned more than 50 dolls at the same time!

2: I want to say this year? I sold quite a few dolls right before and did quite a few trades, which landed me not one but two grail dolls and an unexpected but absolutely perfect reshelling of one of my most favourite doll/characters. In total I got 5 new dolls in the house this year. 6 if you count my dollfie dream Kaito on preorder who will not be delivered before Spring of 2023.

3: 25, counting the ones on order. Also an astonishing number of 2 floating heads! Another thing I struggled greatly with in the past.

4: two! one is an in person trade I will be doing with my friend when I go back to Greece to visit next month, the other is my DD Kaito preorder.

5: honestly I've sold way wayyyyyyyyyyy too many to count. Because I use dolls to shell my already existing characters, sometimes they outgrow their current iterations, or versions I thought perfect for them end up not working out (or simply something much better comes along for them) which prompts me to sell. I also do that when I'm really not enjoying the doll itself, such as my DOD Cham Byol. I absolutely adored the doll and its character, but I never had fun posing them, and their awkward size meant I could never find clothes to fit them... etcetera. I'm not planning on selling anything currently.

 

Q. How many new/or second hand dolls did you buy in your first year of doll collecting?
2 new dolls (both MSDs from Dream of Doll). A Tender Yen and a Twing-key. I used the entirety of a couple meager paychecks to get them plus 2 wigs so it was a very very big deal for me at the time.

Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?
Hard to say. Probably 2020 for similar reasons to what others mentioned above.

If you mean full dolls, then 6. And one loose head that I'm not sure I'm getting a body for or not.

Waiting on one to arrive. Hoping he's shipped soon.

Currently selling 2 heads. Need to list a body soon as well. Maybe I'll list a bunch of eyes if I get the wherewithal.
In the past I have sold 29 different sculpts, some as whole dolls and some as head only. Various bodies as well. Accessories, eyes, wigs etc. I'd usually rather pass things along at a loss than see them go unused in some cases but I'm back to pinching pennies lately so I can't be so carefree now.

I've sold five dolls, I wanted my collection to be only Volks for coherence.

A. 5, all new. 4 were bought and one was a gift.

A. This year (2022). I won't say by how many, but by a significant margin over my second highest (2011).

A. 42 on topic dolls.

A. 7... well 6 1/2; I have a head awaiting her body.

A. 1 full doll (my second purchased), and 1 body that was the original body of my first doll after I'd acquired her second body. I actually have another body (my first's 2nd body as she is now on the right body for her) that I'm considering selling off.

I went quite overboard and bought 19 dolls in my first year, I sold 10 of them later on. That was 2012.

2012, which was my first year collecting!

81 BJDs and 5 1/2 DDs.

One resin head and one Dollfie Dream.

Oh boy, a lot of them! According to my notes I sold 27 dolls already. I sold my last full doll/head 2020 though.

So in my first year of owning BJDs (2019), I ordered 2 heads as well as my first full doll (which arrived in 2020 though ^-^).

2021 and 2022 are currently tied at 3 full dolls plus 2 heads each! But hey, 2022 ain't over yet and my wishlist is long, so the doll family could easily expand further in 2022 ♡

Got one head on order plus another full doll on layaway. As mentined above, another doll is currently being shipped from Luts and will be with me soon hopefully ♡

I have yet to sell off anything doll related tbh ^^; I have a wig and a few clothing items that didn't turn out like I imagined but I'd rather just give them away to a fellow doll friend who could use these rather well •^-^• There's a pair of eyes that I plan to sell though that just didn't work out for my doll but is otherwise flawless.

 

1. How many new/or second hand dolls did you buy in your first year of doll collecting? Three I believe. I purchased my Eshe as Isabella by JAMIEshow first (new) and then a Dollshe Craft Rey Lewis second hand. The Dollshe Craft Rey Lewis was the most beautiful man sculpt I have ever seen. However, I removed his face-up thinking I would customize myself but found it extremely difficult. He was sold soon after and I pre-ordered my DC Bella 2.
2. Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?
   This is a guess as sadly my memory is terrible even if not long ago, 2020. It seems like I went from no bjds to quite a few quickly.
3. Q. How many dolls are currently in your collection? 9 with 2 on pre-order .
4. Q. How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off? Two, a Lillycat Ninon and a Doll Leaves Ida.
5. Q. How many dolls or doll related items did you sell off or plan to sell off? Three, I sold the Rey Lewis as painting him was impossible for me at the time and a MYOU 1/6 Allen. I sold him because I have trouble with my eyes and he was so difficult for me to see. He was adorable. Eventually I would like a MYOU Carr which I think is similar in appearance. I sold my Fairyland Celine which I regretted as soon as she shipped.

Second hand, I have one full doll and a floating head. New, I have 3 tinies.

Im coming up on my one year mark (when i got my first doll) in a few days.

None. I get really attached to my dolls, and I don't think I could sell them. I figured if I don’t like a doll someday, then I’ll mod or hybrid or give as a gift. I haven’t had a need to sell doll clothes and such yet.

I think I had three and a half... meaning one SD Resinsoul boy, two MSD resinsoul boys, and a Doll Leaves Wish head They were all new, I wasn't on DoA then or any other forum and buying second-hand seemed a bad idea for me...

Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?
This February, it'll be 10 years in the hobby, so I don't remember but I know that the last two years were when I finally stopped to buy any more dolls (almost). So I bought a doll per year or a head per year. was wild during my 3rd to 7th year... Then I slowed down again. So, 2016-2019? Not related to my finances or anything...

Q. How many dolls are currently in your collection?
5 and one floating head. I am wondering what I should do with it. It was supposed to be a new shell for my OC, but once I put the new head on, it turned out that I already miss the imperfect old one. So... now i have a floatitng head. It was supposed to be a boy, but I may make it into a tomboyish girl soon. I plan to give it a faceup within a month or so, since now i have a tough exam coming up (so that's why I'm procrastinating here :P )

Q. How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off?
None. I don't plan any more anyway.

Q. How many dolls or doll related items did you sell off or plan to sell off?
I've sold about nearly 50 dolls. Right now I have, as I'd mentioned, these 5 dolls and one head. I love them and I have no plans for now to sell them, but if it ever came to me having to downsize, I'd just keep two or three. I'd certainly keep my Marcel and Sonya, who are lovers (and characters of my novel irl). Also, I'd rather keep my Sophie. (they are all, respectively, BC Kaorin, Supia Sleeping Lina and Volks Nana). I also have my beloved Alexia (Zaol Luv) and Stacey (Supia Rosy), but I am not that emotionally attatched to them

I think one? He’s a Latidoll M, I bought him new, and he’s still my most expensive doll. I can’t really remember if I bought any others that year; it was a long time ago (2008). I know sometime between that and mid-2009 I bought one more full doll and one floating head, but I don’t remember specifically when. I also received a couple of dolls as gifts.

2021, by a VERY large margin. I really should not have, but I got back into the hobby after a long hiatus and got a bit over-excited…

I’ve sold or traded maybe 13 dolls over the years? I’m not totally sure, but it’s been a significant amount.

I bought two dolls in my first year of collecting (2012). My first one is an HZ BOSS and my second one is a LUTS Kid Delf Girl Salgoo, both with company face up.

Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?
2013 I bought 3 dolls: Doll Love Alice, Migidoll Cho (second hand), and SOOM Phonolus Rauco of Fear (second hand). Phonolus was more of a Christmas/ Birthday gift that I split the cost with my parents and grandparents, but it still counts!

Currently, I have 5.

Q. How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off?
I just finished paying off my Ringdoll Hua Cheng, so right now I'm just waiting for the production to finish and for him to be shipped! I'm also waiting on a head to return from getting his faceup (Souldoll Seo Jeong-U), but that will be a while!

Q. How many dolls or doll related items did you sell off or plan to sell off?
As of right now, I have only sold one doll (Doll Love Alice) since I no longer felt a connection to her or her character. I have no plans to sell any others or doll related items!

I jumped into the hobby in 2009, and bought three dolls -- possibly four (the fourth arrived in early January 2010).

None currently, but I am eyeing a body for the floating head, so I plan to get that soon.

Out of the 4 dolls I initially bought in 2009/2010 - 3 of them were sold, and the remaining one is currently on the marketplace. In total I've bought 7 full dolls, sold 4 of them, and selling a fifth. It took me a while to figure out what kinds of sculpts I wanted to have home, but now I'm quite confident of what I want and what I will get.

Also - I was active in the hobby 2009-2013, took a long hiatus, then came back this year - so I've technically "been in the hobby" just for 5-ish years.

On the first year? One was second hand, and another was a closeout store display when Mint On Card was closing. I've bought more second hand dolls since then. As long as the resin is in great shape, I clean up the doll and fix them how I want. I bought a lot of new dolls that year. I can't even remember how many I think like 6.

The first and second year, I went a bit doll crazy. Now I have quite a few and only get them if they really catch my interest.

I don't know how many heads. Most came with other dolls and I don't have any interest into turning them into full dolls just yet.

None, I've kept everything. I've found that it's pretty convenient to have that stuff when putting together a new doll or changing one around. So, I keep it around just in case.

I bought a DC head that I had for a year and a half before I bought my first actual doll, lol.

Five that are "complete." One DD I'm still figuring out. And then like two heads. I've got more than that, but I'm planning on selling the rest.

I'm waiting on a Resinsoul 60cm girl body for my girl Fable.

I've sold like 10 dolls in total over the years, but like...a lot of bodies and heads, too. I also plan on selling more that I have. I have one body and like two heads I need to sell. That's not even going into accessories I no longer need.

I started collecting in late 2008. For that calendar year, I only bought that one (Moswen, AoD Chi). For the first official year I was collecting... 3? 2 were new and 1 second hand. I was also given a doll body as I bought Moswen during a free head event.

I honestly have no idea off the top of my head. I'd have to go back through my records to see and that's kind of a lot.

Q. How many dolls are currently in your collection?
74 full dolls and 2 heads that require bodies. I'm back to looking for an appropriate body for one head and the other head can wait a bit to get his body (I know which one he'll be getting but need to save up for it).

I've only sold 1 doll body as the character that was using it intensely disliked it (he's on a different body now and is much happier and very pleased with himself). At this point I do not plan to sell any of my dolls. I've traded doll clothes/shoes/wigs with friends as well as made clothes, wigs, eyes and storage bags for friends.

We're going back a ways now, but from memory it was three dolls, all new.

1. I bought one secondhand, 2014, Walter (DoD Tender Too) came home. I do not know what I was thinking when I did this but I love him. Wouldn't change it.

2. 2015, I got Wil and Razz. Wil was straight from the company, Razz secondhand. Both are miraculously Mystic Kids brand. I found Razz on a whim and could not be happier that I did! (Mystic Kids Milo and Mandel)

3. I have 3. Party time!

4. I have none I'm waiting on to come in but I have plans for some to get in the future

5. I have never sold off any doll items and don't plan to sell anything from my collection but I hope to one day set up a shop to make sell some doll clothes or props. It would be a dream to run face up commissions one day.
