> None as of yet and not planning to. I try to only get dolls & clothing that I can see myself having fun with for a long time. Maybe I'll start sewing though and then when I don't have space anymore will sell some clothing

That was back in 2008-2009, I think I only bought one doll that year, but I can be wrong. It was a new new doll from Dollzone.

2022, I got 5 new dolls & 1 head

My new ID75 boy just arrived yesterday, so currently waiting only 1 head.

I have sold a lot during the years, so I cannot remember. Probably around 8 full dolls and maybe the same or more with heads? I sold all my old dolls when I was on hiatus for a long time and I have also sold lot of clothes and accessories. I am currently selling off few heads, but other than that I do not have any plans selling my current dolls.

 

Q. How many new/or second hand dolls did you buy in your first year of doll collecting?
My first year, only one, but my first doll arrived in November and I ordered my second doll six weeks later the next year.

I honestly don't remember. I have a lot of blank space in my memories as an early doll collector because of stress happening in my life.

I have four BJDs. It's been a while since I added to the collection, though I do plan to, I just need to find the right doll.

None at the moment. I made a promise to myself to get everyone the right hair, eyes, and face ups before I add someone new to the group.

I've never sold anything. I wish I was one of those collectors who could have bought beautiful items that had good resale value. I made most of my clothes for my dolls since it's cheaper for me than buying fullsets. In the past I've given items to people who were new to the hobby. While I might not have much, I'm happy to donate dresses, wigs, and eyes to new folk. That is, if I have extras.

 

Q. How many new/or second hand dolls did you buy in your first year of doll collecting?

Three, I think. I got into dolls back in 2003, and as far as I can remember only super active/visible company at the time was Volks, and I think a couple of small independent makers who did occasional one offs. It was a little harder to order one from Volks than it is now, since there was no direct route unless you lived in Japan or had a Japanese contact willing to go shopping for you. I was also much younger and had to be much more cautious about spending.

2005, I think. I went to the opening of the Volks LA Showroom (side note - super sad to find out that it closed in 2014) and Mansion and bought an SD10 Kun, and won a Sei-Tenshi during the party at the Mansion. In that same year I bought five other dolls but most didn't jive with my tastes at the time so they got to go to new homes.

As of today I have five that "live" with me. Volks SD10 Liz (Spring Stroll Version,2006), Volks Volks SD10 Kun/F-22 (2005), Volks SD10 School Head C (2008), SD10 floating head F-01/Sisterhead (2006), Luts Dreaming Shiwoo WS (2006), Volks Sei-Tenshi (2005)

Q. How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off?

Two and a half. Everybody is paid for, but I'm waiting on a body to arrive for my F-01 Floating Head. I'm also waiting on Volks SD10 Mai and a Volks SD10 FCS-63

I sold maybe fifteen or sixteen whole or partial dolls between 2003 and 2009 when I actively into "doll things." I have no idea how many wigs/eyes/clothing items, etc. that have come and gone, but it's been a lot.

Q. How many new/or second hand dolls did you buy in your first year of doll collecting?

That's harder to quantify than you might think. I ordered my first dolls (Harumatsu and Tien Jen) late in one year and they arrived early in the next... So, if we're going by order date, they were the only dolls added to the gang in 2005. If we're going by arrival? My records tell me I added thirteen full dolls to the gang in all in 2006, plus a couple of heads who would go on to get bodies of their own later on. Almost all were ordered new... One bod (Jen's-) and a Gomi Igon head (Who ended up not sticking around-) were second hand.

Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?

The spreadsheet tells me that 2007 and 2008 were our "big years", with 2010 and 2011 close behind.

Q. How many dolls are currently in your collection?

That depends on how you count them... Only fully On-Topic, active members of the gang (250 or so)? Those plus the herd of mostly Off-Topic little beasties, pets and assorted critters (60-ish)? The Gang plus the Menagerie plus the "for completeness only" residents of the Floating Head Box (About 10)?

When asked, I've always just defaulted to saying that I have "TOO MANY!" I'm a collector-type who's been at this for almost 18 years. Ending up with a whole tribe of minions was sort-of inevitable.

Q. How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off?

Three little beasties (A fox and a pair of mushrooms from Dream Valley, ordered last fall-) and a proper Luts SrDelf body for Chanter, ordered in March.

I haven't added a full, human-type doll to the gang in awhile.

Q. How many dolls or doll related items did you sell off or plan to sell off?

Since starting the "doll thing" in 2005, I've probably sold about fifty dolls, bodies or heads in all. I tend not to hang on to the ones I don't like, and in 2009 that included almost all of my white resin CP/Delfs and about half of my Sooms. These days, I sell much more rarely. I think it's been about seven years since I sold anyone on. I gave away an OnlyDoll guy and a Miro 'project doll' a few years ago in one of the Newbie Swap things the mods hosted, so maybe that counts, even though they were freebies?

Eyes, clothes and props, I tend to keep. I'll typically give away wigs that I know I won't use.

First year? None. I bought one doll new and I had just one for years. Eventually I bought some more but my collection has always been a very slow to grow.

I tend to buy one in a year if any. They are expensive and require a lot of time and work to be just right (sewing clothes, painting face ups and making wigs).
This all said, I did buy two dolls in 2022.

Just one. It should arrive this summer.

None of the dolls. That's the beauty of slow purchases - I usually also own the dolls for long time.
Doll related stuff however, well, I might sell few props but honestly the most of the related stuff is made by me and I'm not good enough a crafter to actually sell anything I've made.
I might end up selling some of the props though.

1. I bought 2 dolls in my first year. Both were new.
2. 2015 as my recollection. I bought 4 dolls and 2 heads.
3. Still waiting for 2 dolls to arrive.
4. I plan to sell one of the bodies. Because I paid for an exchange service with Volks with the head. And I am planning to get a new body for the new head to avoid unmatching colour.

I bought 13 in my first 12 months of collecting but sold a couple. My average is about one purchase a month.

- I never counted this before, and I'm not sure where to start and end. If we go by when I first put in the first order and 365 days from then, um, maybe 6 or 7? Some of those were heads only.

- Probably my third year in. I've been in the hobby for 8 years.

- A little over 40 on-topic dolls, most of them are huge 70cm boys.

- Zero. I feel my collection is mostly finished. I've gotten all the dolls I've wanted. I shell characters, so it's not so much that I'm looking for companies to come out with the next new thing. I looked for dolls that looked like the characters I wanted to shell. I suppose I could shell a couple of the lesser characters. But, I've already done that with some of the other lesser characters and I'm generally not feeling the need to spend $500 on characters that I don't absolutely adore. I am looking for a new head for one very important character and a new body for another, but the body isn't urgent and the head is being difficult as far as finding something that actually works for the character.
In addition, there's not a lot of space for more, so it's probably a good thing I feel done with the collection!

- I've sold some clothing items and dolls and maybe have a few more to sell, but in general, I don't sell a whole lot. I'd rather put things in storage or donate them than mess with buyers and packing and posting.

I'm also going to count "year" as 365 days from the time I joined the hobby and came back from hiatus. Not the calendar year.

I bought 4 full dolls in my first year of collecting (2009-2010) - one new, three secondhand.

Q. Which year was the year you bought the most dolls?
2022-2023 (present). I came back from my very long BJD hiatus in October 2022, and in the 8 months since then I bought 2 full dolls, 3 floating heads, and 3 doll bodies.

Q. How many dolls are currently in your collection?
5 full dolls.

Q. How many dolls are you waiting for to arrive or paying off?
Paid off everything, now waiting for 1 full doll and 2 floating heads. I hope to buy a body for one of those heads before the end of this year.

Before I went on hiatus in 2013, I sold 3 dolls. After I came back from hiatus in 2022, I sold two dolls and one body. I'm keeping the rest.

If you only consider the date, I bought one secondhand doll (head and body separately) in 2007. If you count a full year, then I'm not sure as I've sold some and some I can't remember the exact date I bought them. I still have 5 from the first full year I started collecting BJDs, though.

2022, I believe. I usually keep track of arrival date and not order date, so it's hard to accurately say.

116. 93 full dolls, 22 floating heads, and 1 'prop' that I tend to count as a doll.

I have 1 full doll on layaway, and am waiting on 1 head and 1 full doll.

I honestly have no idea. I've sold a lot over the almost 16 years I've been in the hobby - dolls, heads, parts, clothes, eyes, wigs, props, etc. And I know I'll sell more, cause sometimes it's just time for things to move on to a new home.
