Obitsu General Discussion - Part Three (60cm, 55cm, 50cm and 47cm)

Oct 14, 2016

    1. Congratulations @MrFjmg2003 ! And now pecosa has black hair too!
I recently bought two heads from parabox, one Mikuru and one blank 50-02 for experimenting purposes. (And a 11cm Hikari). Theyโ€™re still traveling. The one that havenโ€™t been traveling is this little Hime Ane with no name yet.

    2. Thank you.

Congrats your Hime Zane is so cute. I hope you share more of her and find the perfect name.

    3. I was wondering if the 60cm Girl body can wear heels? I know Dollfie Dreams can't without it bending the foot, But does Obitsu sell extra feet parts or are they able to wear Heels comfortably? Smart Doll is the only place i know of that makes extra feet for the heel shoes.

    4. Dollfie Dream can wear high heels without bending the foot. You need to bend the ankle a little for DD to wear high heels. It won't look odd it looks normal. My Dollfie Dream only wear high heels and they fit perfely. Same for Obitsu 60cm they can wear high heels too, but you will need to bend the ankle about the same as a DD. :) Their ankles are design to bend to allow them to wear high heels. Same for smart dolls :)

Here is a picture of my DDdy Shampoo carrying her Obitsu sister Pecosa. My Shampoo is wearing high heels. Unfortunately I don't have any more obitsu 60cm girls anymore, but when I did they would wear high heels all the time. Volks made high heels for DD, and parabox for Obitsu :)

They're both adorable! Thank you, Thats the one thing i was worried about. I was worried it would break the feet. I have a Dollfie Dream Miku but i never put heels on her because i was scared her ankle joint would crack or break.

    6. I don't own a Dollfie Dream, but, with resin dolls and my Angel Philia, they can wear different shoes as long as they fit over the foot. It's more of a matter of how it looks, as some of my flat foot girls can wear heels and no one can tell they are flat feet. My Angel Philia has heel feet on and I can put some flat shoes on her and she can still stand fine. I can't say for sure, but I think a lot of dolls with ankle joints can bend nearly as much as the average human's ankle..... correct me if I'm wrong.

    7. I hope I can help here. I prepared a quick comparison of Dollfie Dream, Smart Doll and Obitsu60 - all of them with their standard flat feet - wearing the highest heels I have.

From left to right: DD, Smart Doll, Obitsu.

[IMG]Flat feet wearing high heels by Mysha, on Flickr

DD - fits good, looks good. Very natural.
Smart Doll - kind of a "broken ankle" effect (too much of a heel above the shoe's back), but not terrible.
Obitsu - the foot is visibly too small for the shoe (which is a perfect fit for the two above) and it looks not really good. The obitsu foot has a limit of how far it can bend to the back, which means the limit of how high the heels it can wear.
Here's the photo of Obitsu foot from another angle: Obitsu 60 wearing high heels
That being said, Obitsu can still successfully wear high heels that aren't open. In this photo: DSC01529-enh you can see the boots my Isabelle wears all the time. She can stand in them on her own as well.

    8. @Mysha Oh, wow! thank you for those photos.... they are such good and quality photos and it's so nice to see flat feet in heels. What heels are those? They are very pretty! Sometimes, I'm a cheat and stuff toes with a part of a cotton ball just because pretty closed toe shoes match something else.... and I'd get those shoes if I could, even if they might be a smidge big on my Angel Philia doll, which I believe has the same foot from the same mold as Obitsu girls. IMHO, shoes is the hardest part of having any of my lady dolls!

    9. @mollym, glad I could help :) Those are CLS heels. I've done the stuff thing with another shoes as well ;) It works fine if the shoe is just a little too big.
I believe Angel Philia dolls have their own feet mold - although they may use the same frame. And they are based on smaller obitsu - I can't remeber exactly, but it was somethig around 48cm. I guess you would have more luck with MSD size shoes rather than with SD size. And my CLS shoes are already too big for Obitsu60, let alone any smaller ones.

    10. Agh, okay..... yeah, sort of forgot about the 60cm Obitsu ladies being much larger. Yes, I believe Angel Philia and Obitsu 48 are on the same frame.... they might have the same hands, feet, forearm and shins, but I could be mistaken..... Those are some great shoes though....

    11. Thank you all for the help.

    12. @mollym, I've found the shoes at LegendDoll, however it seems they are only in SD size ("The inner length is about 7cm, width is about 2.5cm"). I guess you have no choice but to buy a bigger doll to fit the shoes :D

    13. Yeah... I might... but I did stuff one pair of shoes because they matched her fancy, fancy Code Noir outfit so well.... and since it's soooo hard to dress these girls, she has 2 official Code Noir outfits. They fit... but... as Angel Philia has crazy busts, I ended up needing a small H2 bust for the outfits. Needless to say, she's really spoiled! Not because she's pretty, but because she's such an odd size...
Since we're on the topic of shoes, I'll show how the SD Code Noir heel looks when stuffed for her heeled feet. I would rather have ones that fit... but the outfit needed them..... and I have a hard time finding shoes except that Obitsu shoes do fit just fine!

    14. It doesn't look too bad ;) She's lucky to have Code Noir outfits - I love them, but they are crazy expensive.
What's her foot size? I wonder if she's somewhere between MSD and SD.
Btw, her high heel feet look so lovely - I wish I had similar looking ones for my girls.

    15. Angel Philias, as well as Pink Drops from RAP, Azone 50/60cm bodies, and a few others are all manufactured by the Obitsu Plastic Manufacturing Co., Ltd. They all use the same 50cm (or 60cms) bodies with identical skeletal parts. The only real difference is that each company contracts Obitsu to produce custom exterior vinyls, which are exclusive to each company. Most of these exterior parts are interchangeable.
All the 50cm bodies use the same flat feet. AP and Parabox both have their own exclusive high heel feet. Parabox's are slightly narrower than the AP version.

    16. Thank you, @K-2! That's good to know.... I'll probably never own that large of a variety of vinyl dolls (or if I do it will take a long time)..... so it's good to have an expert collector in our little vinyl corner here. :D I had it in my head that Obitsu 47/48/50 all had the same external parts from the knee and elbow down, now I know!

@Mysha Absolutely.... I have never once bought new high-end doll clothes before Monami. I've snagged a few pieces second hand. Code Noir is just as good (maybe better, don't shoot me) as Dollfie clothes that I have seen. The only 'complaint' I have is that the two Cod Noir outfits I have, the bodice is cut for very small busts. I suspect this is the same for all of their clothes for that size. I can't find anything made especially for her more voluptuous figured busts unless I make it myself or get very, very lucky with mixing and matching SD items. So, for what they are, Code Noir items are very, very good. They should last a very long time with care. My dolls aren't demanding designer clothes, they prefer to shop second-hand so they can invite more dolls into my house. I have only one piece made by Real Art Project clothing wise.... and I'm scared of it because it's a red bodysuit made of some vinyl-typed covered fabric in red. I put it on a spare, loose Obitsu bust to test for stains. I thought I had trouble dressing my 68cm male casual, modern Westerner styled dolls....... much more of a challenge to get shoes for my Angel Philia doll! :( But she's so fun, it's okay.) It seems most MSD lady shoes are now being made for Minifee's teeny feet. I believe her feet are about 6.5cm, and even the smallest SD doll shoes are too big.... but.... I put flat sneakers on her heeled feet and she can stand okay. I don't have ankle pegs yet for her flat feet, so she doesn't wear them. I need to sew anyhow, so she's the victim to my clumsy sewing attempts for awhile. Once I get better, I'll make outfits around pretty shoes that would fit her.

I have flat feet shoes too, but I just don't have many female shoes since I have only 3 adult lady dolls, and the other 2 resin girls both have flat feet only. Not only that, but one of my girls has a bigger foot than most SDs, so I don't want to risk buying many shoes if they are unlikely to fit anyone well. :( Shoes is the worst part for me owning adult lady BJDs because an outfit isn't complete without shoes and I don't have any idea how to make them, nor the time. I need to learn to make shoes one day! But.... I think anything beyond slippers or flip-flops would be beyond my patience to learn and practice making for several years to come.

    17. So, I'm shopping for a new doll as a few people here know and i'm still keeping a Smart Doll Crimson in mind But i really want to make an OC doll, with a fresh new hand painted face and everything, The only thing is, I like to have my boy dolls be feminine or unisex. I model my OC's after the type of fashion styles that i wear. However i know its hard for BJD boy body's to be that way if their 50cm's and up. Anyway do you think it's possible for the 55cm Obitsu Boy Body to be unisex as in like clothing? Or would i have to get a female body? If i did get the 60cm girl body would i be able to sand down the chest or buy a replacement part to make it look like a male's chest?

    18. The 55cm Obitsu boy is pretty androgynous looking, at least from the pictures. The only differences (aside from the height) between the 55cm male and 60cm female bodies are the male bust piece and a slightly wider waist piece, so it's possible to swap out parts if you want.

    19. Swapping chest and abdomen parts between the 55cm and the 60cm is a viable option as Tira-chan pointed out. These two bodies are essentially built on the same platform, sharing many internal and a few external parts. While vinyl can be sanded for minor modifications (removal of "headlights", minor facial mods), the vinyl is overall too thin to be sanded to do things like bust alterations. Part swapping is the best alternative. Check out the variety of 55/60cm bust/chest parts available from Parabox.
