1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Obitsu General Discussion - Part Three (60cm, 55cm, 50cm and 47cm)

Oct 14, 2016

    1. It’s the international shipping that gets you.

I’m so upset.. I don’t know how to handle my new doll without breaking parts like I did today.

I cracked the right side of the chest part where the arm tube goes in and cracked the left side of the hip waist joint resulting in both becoming floppy instead of stiff and firm.

    2. It took me 6 hours to fix GONN 2.0’s cracked joints with a hot glue gun. What took me the longest was installing her head by disassembling the neck joint and reassembling it behind her eyes.

I won’t disassemble her unless it’s absolutely necessary. I‘m glad I don’t have to buy new parts! I’m so happy!

Meigana (GONN 2.0’s new name) is ecstatic about her repaired body as well!

    3. I can't help it, I have an Azone/Obitsu addiction!

This is #4 from the Iris Collect series, my 2nd Rino, who I've named Beryl!

    4. Awe, Bery is super cute! I love her rabbit ears and eyes. The little pockets on her jacket is such a cute touch to her adorable outfit!

    5. I left a dark dress on Meigana for too long and now she’s stained all over! What do I do? How do I remove color transfer?

    6. Ouch! I'm so sorry about Meigana! This product has been reported to do well with most stains. I've not had to use it on my Angel Philia ladies, yet. I've used it on a Ken doll's face and it did fine.

    7. Remove-Zit? Can it remove dried paint and faceups too? I’ve seen a majority of positive reviews from other vinyl doll owners so I think I’ll buy it!

    8. Possibly? I'd ask some that do their own faceups on vinyl to know for sure. I learned about it from K-2! because it was in a book he recommended, I only tried it on that one Ken doll that I got second hand. It worked, but it's suppose to be less potent as it ages, so I'm not sure my tub would be good anymore. I just have Angel Philias, so I'm doing my best to preserve their factory paint. I have some blank heads that I've not done a faceup for yet... I have heard some bad things about using acetone, and it's known to not be chemically compatible with many plastics, so I do avoid that on my own dolls after I learned.

    9. Oh no.. I’ve been using nail polish remover to try to remove staining and yellowing from my doll! I won’t be using that anymore!

In other news, I ordered new parts and joints for Meigana along with body tights, soft pastels, paint and a new wig from Parabox for 15k JPY today.

I feel so embarrassed saying this.. But I admit I made impulsive financial decisions in beginning this hobby. So far, I have spent $730 within 2 months for my doll expenses. Who wouldn’t be angry at someone without a stable income spending this amount of money on doll items?

I hope that it isn’t too late to turn these expensive lessons into something positive and possibly financially and creatively rewarding in the future. I want to make props to sell, but I worry I’m a lost cause in this situation and should quit before it goes any further.

    10. How do I buy from Obitsu? This is probably the dumbest question ever, but I just got into Vinyl and I want to get a boy to be Link, because I have a big, busty DDdy to be Zelda and I legitimately have no idea about anything. Help?

    11. Obitsushop or Parabox will work but have differing costs and items. There are more shops to buy Obitsu bodies but these are the two I remember the most.

      ドールやフィギュアの素体、キューピー人形の販売|obitsu shop|オビツ・ショップ

      [PARABOX NETSHOP]

ObitsuShop only ships throughout Japan but accepts international orders from proxies. ObitsuShop sells their 50cm bodies with two color choices of White (normal) and limited Super Whitey (bright white) in something translated into Semi-order where you have a choice of heads, eyes and bust sizes. They sell replacement parts for their discontinued/terminated bodies if they’re stocked.

Parabox doesn’t require a proxy and ships through DHL for 2,000 yen. Parabox sells a wide range of Obitsu doll bodies, wigs, clothing, and Parabox-exclusive heads on their site. I got Meigana’s Luna D head from Parabox! I love it so much! The price? Ehh.. not so much. :...(

Both sites sell new Obitsu bodies for 22k JPY with shipping costs. Your shipping costs may be a bit different if you go through a proxy to ObitsuShop. I don’t know much about it because I’ve bought items through Parabox, not ObitsuShop.

I won Meigana’s Obitsu 50 body through Yahoo Japan Auctions and bought my Obitsu 60 body from Rakuma.

    12. @Rneiro Acetone does have its use in faceup removal, just not generally as your first go-to. For that, I usually use rubbing alcohol. But sometimes, I encounter paint that is being stubborn about getting off, and I'll break out the acetone. It'll even remove sealants that say they can't be removed. Early experimenters supposedly tried soaking their doll parts in acetone and found that it would eventually damage the plastic. But just for taking off a faceup you shouldn't worry too much, since it evaporates so quickly.

    13. I’m soaking the doll head that I messed up with ink in a bag of 91% + 71% isopropyl alcohol.

I got off some white paint over the ink using 91% isopropyl alcohol and a cotton ball. I used 91% alcohol at first then I washed it off and combined it with 71% alcohol. Was it a bad idea to do that? Probably. I hope it removes the stubborn black ink from my doll head!

It removed a trace of ink but not much else. I’ll update you all on the results later.

    14. I couldn’t get the pesky black ink off the head! I scrubbed it with hot water and soap and will wait for the Remove-Zit stuff I ordered to arrive.

    15. I’m thinking about buying Dolly Pop’s 50cm 3-piece bust, abdomen and lower trunk set, but wanted to hold off until the Parabox stuff I bought to be delivered.

Here are some of my questions about the DP50 3-piece set:

Do you own a part or more of the set?

If so, how is the fit on your Ob50?

Do the parts feel firm in your hands? Do they feel thin?

How is the color match with the rest of your doll’s limbs (stock or not)?

I’m sorry for bombarding this thread with all of my questions. I’m an overzealous first time vinyl BJD owner!

    17. My new Parabox Obitsu package arrived today! Putting Meigana’s body back together with the new parts I ordered is way harder than what I expected. I shall update you all later on the results.

Meigana’s nickname for me is “Miss Frankenstein” because I keep disassembling and reassembling her when things don’t look right!

    18. I know someone on Doll Dreaming brought one of those and made a thread about it, you might want to check there. (It's a mostly vinyl forum.)

    19. Yes, I already read over the "Dolly Pop! DP50 3-piece set" thread and have an account on the vinyl doll forum DollDreaming.

I assembled Meigana again and now her hips, leg and thigh joints are floppy/loose and not holding their positions. How do I fix this? These are all new replacement parts but none are performing properly!

Edit: I’m sorry for sounding irritated and aggressive in this post. I’m frustrated that I’m having such a difficult time getting my doll properly functioning.
