Hey everyone! Sorry about going AWOL, I've had final and work has been kicking my back side but I'll be free for two weeks! X3. Little Tina is wanting to say hello to all the new piggies in the thread and say welcome back to Mr. Finnegan.

Ballet, don't you just hate it when real life interferes with the things you'd really like to be doing?! Ah well, gotta pay the bills, eh?

Sooooo, at long last, my Finnegan has an introduction to make!

But first, he sends greetings and hugs to all his porcine peeps (Tiggy's words! )!!


And now, he proudly introduces his lady love, Fiona!!


Aren't they just perfect together?!


Unfortunately Fiona lost her luggage, so she has nothing to wear! So for now she is staying modestly tucked into her cozy bed!


(Gotta find some clothes to fit this lovely lady! )

So the story behind Finnegan's broken heart? He fell in love on his travels and invited Fiona to come home with him. But Fiona was too worried that her mom would miss her too much, and she said she couldn't leave her. Finnegan was preparing to return home alone and heartbroken, but Fiona's mom convinced her she would be fine, and encouraged her to venture out and see the world! And so, at least for now, they are here with me! (Until their next adventure, of course! )

We're taking good care of new-friend Bubu and keeping him warm. He's been living in Tasmania and where we are in England it's minus four degrees! Keep those trotters under the blankie, new-friend Bubu! He watched CSI Miami last night. He said it made him feel warmer. He thinks he might be called Wilkins. Or possibly Pippin. Love and kisses from Arthur. xxx

P.S. Psammead says she's sorry not to have been in touch. She's quite poorly just now. We dollies do what we can to help, bringing her drinks and hot water bottles and playing by ourselves quietly. She says the everyone's piggies are super-sweet and a special hi to Banbhan.

Another new arrival - how exciting! Things are hoppin' here in the Piggy thread!! So glad Arthur has some new company to take his mind off his unrequited love for Hilde! And to help him take care of you, psammead! I hope you are feeling better soon, and in time to enjoy the upcoming holiday!! (I like the name Pippin, too! Wilkins is a very nice name, too, but seems a bit "formal" for Mr. BuBu! ) Love Arthur's overalls, by the way!

MuJa and Banbhan, thanks for the warm welcome to little Miss Fiona! (And yes, Fiatan, she is the ACB that was on eBay.) I can't believe I now have a BuBu AND an ACB!!

Confession time (please, everyone, hold your hands over your little piggies ears!!): A while back I had actually considered putting Finn up for adoption. It was when I had most of my dolls packed away while my house was on the market. I just thought he didn't get enough attention, I wasn't that into anthros, etc. Well, just before posting a FS thread, I took him out of his box, and through all the stress I'd been through and as low as I was at the time, he made me smile. And I knew he would be staying with me. And now, not only is little BuBu still here with me, but I've added another little oinker to the mix!

I love how different their faces are, but how well they go together. Finnegan is forever happy and optimistic, and Fiona is sweet and mysterious. Fiona's arrival has inspired me - I am planning to enhance Finn's faceup (and try and remove the white powdery look around his eyes and ears - any suggestions? It looks like some kind of residue or maybe too much MSC? I tried a magic eraser and that didn't make any difference. Oh well, the enhanced faceup might just cover it.)

Hi! Hi! It's me! Arthur! I have a question! I want to print a picture of a beautiful lady off the internet. But I asked psammead and she said that it's wrong to have pictures of Private Individuals without asking them first. It's OK if it's a famous celebrity like Miss Piggy or Babe, but if the piggy is a Private Individual then you have to ask first. Otherwise it's stalking. (Not sure what that is, but apparently very bad.) So...

Dear Fiatan,
Please could you ask Hilde if she minds if I print her picture off the internet? I have to ask because she's a Private Individual. I have got some scissors and glue and cardboard to make a pretty frame. I like the picture of Hilde in her Santa hat best. It is the prettiest picture of the most beautiful lady. I hope she says it's OK!

Pippin is settling in well, but we have discovered he is wrong in the head!!! The back of his head is loose and falls off!!! He says it doesn't hurt and is as cheerful as ever. But it worries me so I asked psammead what we can do. She says she will ask the wise dolly-doctors on DoA if there is an operation he can have. Meanwhile the little boy-dolls think it is hilarious when the back of Pippin's head falls off and they shout "Do it again! Do it again!" And then Pippin runs around and makes the back of his head fall off and they all fall about laughing. I help look after the little boy-dolls (Sparrow and Wilf). They are 6 years old and are OT. OT stands for Outrageously Tall (or so I believe). They are 40 cm tall!

 

OMG, psammead, you are hilarious! Laughing out loud again, I am! Boys! I swear, they are so easily amused!

It should be a quick, easy fix for your little Pippin's head! I looked at Finn's headcap, and since it's not attached with magnets or grooves, there are just a couple thin lines of eye putty on the inside edges (at the top and bottom) of the headcap - those provide enough stick/grip to hold it on. My Finn came directly from Papa Charles, so this is how they were attached "stock". Hope that helps! And don't tell the boys I told you! (I don't want them to know who spoiled the fun!)

Of course you may print a picture of Hilde! She would be very flattered, I hope this doesn't go to her head. Oh yes, I noticed that Hilde has been staring longingly at your latest photos. When I asked her about it, she only blushed and ran away. Perhaps she has developed a crush on Pippin? She always did find OBubus fascinating specimens. Please keep this a secret from Arthur as long as you can!

 

Fiatan, Oh no! A little piggy love triangle! I will indeed keep your suspicions from Arthur as long as I can. I can't help hoping you're wrong (though Bubus are irresistible) because I know Arthur will be upset. Although he is a cheerful little chap and full of bounce, underneath he takes everything a bit too seriously. (He was much more worried about Pippin's head than I was.) In the meantime he will be thrilled that he can have his photograph of Hilde. I know he will spend today making the frame. That and looking after the rest of us will absorb all his attention.

Perhaps your little Hilde is starting to grow up? Taking an interest in boys?

gatodelsol, I'm glad Arthur made you giggle. I wanted to know exactly how the Bubus's heads came from Papa Charles and you've given me that precise information. Thank you! When Pippin came to me his headcap was kept in place with two blobs of eye putty. But the headcap is very ill-fitting and the putty showed. You can see in the photo of Pippin above that his headcap sticks up a bit and it's also a bit too small. I've fixed it for now with masking tape, four stitch markers and a rubber band. I'm going to get some more eye putty and experiment. I'm also wondering about magnets.

None of this detracts in the least from the pleasure Pippin gives us. What a smile! What a happy personality! Just like you say: Finn made you smile when you were low. It is an important function of dolls to make us feel better and loved when we are sad and piggies are eager to do it.

Their Lati Yellow dresses fit fine on our little piggies.

I love buying clothes for Hilde, but it's usually hit or miss whether or not they fit.

Oooh, fashion advice from the ever-desirable Hilde - I'll take it!! Funny, I had actually already discovered Dollygoround and picked out a lovely dress for Fiona, but holiday funds are stretched thin and I didn't get it ordered. I'll have to check out the other shop you recommended. In the meantime, I've thrown together a makeshift little dress for her. And Finn has given her a little present - a toy pig! (He's very worried about her getting homesick, so he dotes on her endlessly! I love how proud he looks in the second picture! )

 

Finn's headcap fits nicely, and just those two thin strips of eye putty hold it on without showing on the outside. Perhaps Pippin's putty has just lost its sticky? And sometimes less is more - maybe just try some really thin strips of freshly sticky eye putty before trying anything more extreme. I love headcaps that are secured with magnets, but not sure how you would "retrofit" one....seems drilling might be required. That would be a question for someone far more experienced than me!

Finn and Fiona are the cutest thing ever! I love them to bits! She really works that dress. Alice Cherry Blossoms have such innate style -- at least the girls do. And now she has a dolly of her own! What a clever Finn to find her such a good present.!

Poor Pippin. He has had his share of health problems. He had to have an operation on his knee in Tasmania. (It was a success.) His headcap isn't a good fit and in some places there are visible gaps between the cap and the rest of the head. I want to try out your suggestion but because of the gaps I'm not sure how it'll look. The hooks and rubber band contraption which I've rigged inside his head is working well for now. I'm thinking magnets would involve a mod of the head and the headcap to build casings for the magnets to sit in. I need to ask someone on the modding forum. Pippin's not the least bit worried. Nothing daunts the happy spirit of the Bubus. (Except perhaps the prospect of being separated from their lady-loves.) Pippin sends love to Cousin Finn.

 

Yes, that's the beauty of BuBus....they don't let anything get them down! I can visualize what you're describing re: possible modification with magnets - makes sense, and sounds do-able. Finn sends love back to Pippin, and hopes he eventually gets his head screwed on straight!

And speaking of Finn.....well, he was supposed to be decorating and wrapping Christmas presents. And here's what I found instead...
