1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

OMG ~ Total NOOB question: Why Do They Call It A 'Fer'???

Mar 26, 2010

    1. I think it is just the name of the design personally. Dollheart comes up with all kinds of interesting names for their outfits.
I would have to also say that it is a ruffle that goes around the dress, so no about the pleats references. I have owned a couple and they are very pretty. I love Dollhearts clothing.

    2. i work in fashion and when desiging a pattern the pattern maker has to develope a style name and number for each aspect of the outfit being names. there is the possibility that this company you are referring to had another idea in mind but my guess is that it is just the style name of whatever this dress type is, hope that helps you some!

    3. I had the same doubt xD
      but i stop wondering why...
      so The Fer in that
      "FER"
one word only for that object

    4. I so happy that I'm not the only one who want to know why Dollheart call the dress "Fer". I'll be keeping my eye on this thread, should an answer reveal.

    5. Never heard of it before. No pics, seriously? I'm going to have to hit up Wikipedia or something.

    6. I've been thinking about this for a long time, and came up with this: the silhouette of the dress is like that of a pine, or fir, tree. Could "Fer" not simply be engrish spelling for/reference to "fir"?

    7. I'm such a noob that I had to google "dollheart fer" to even know what you were talking about!! lol :O

      *hides*

    8. Actually I'm pretty sure fer means iron and not blade.

    9. This thread makes me laugh only because as a comunity we're having a complete "Oh my god I'm not the only one" moment.

As most of us apprently are, I'm just as lost as you. Maybe they didn't get the question when you asked them it @@ Maybe that's why they never responded.

    10. I had a fun time reading this, and yes, I DID wonder why it's called the fer. It'll be interesting if Dollheart does respond though, no matter what's the answer. I suppose the easiest answer is that they just wanted to call it a fer, and that's that, but it's quite amusing to read through all the different answers people tossed out.

    11. me too lmao...

    12. I still wonder why they call it that. XD Since no one's ever actually gotten an answer from them as to the why of it.

    13. Don't worry, I had to google it too, and I've been in this hobby for four years. :P Then it turns out it's a dress. And I have all boy dolls with no cross-dressing, so it's no wonder I've never heard of it. xD;

EDIT: Also my assumption when I see BJD companies calling items of clothing weird things, is that they got confused when trying to find the English word. Like I've seen pants/trousers called 'leggings' before. They're not leggings, but I can gather what they mean. So something to do with the language barrier and the magic of broken English?
