Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. On Display or in their Boxes?

Feb 7, 2022

    1. On display, baby! I didn’t spend all this dang money and time just for them to chill in a box.

It’s the same with game figures too. All out of their original packaging. I’m never gonna resell them. They’re all here to stay.

    2. On display, of course! All my figures and dolls are on display in display cases. I don't think keeping those little cuties in boxes lets you enjoy them as much.

    3. I display mine. I don't think they sit in one pose long enough to gather dust. But I'm also new so I don't know the problem with dust.
I remember reading about the sun being a problem for the resin. I just get so much joy from repositioning the dolls that I could not put them away.

    4. I do the same. I wish I could display them though, but I don't have any space at the moment, and I have pets, plus the fear of yellowing is there a little bit too. :sigh But I also find it annoying to have them if I can't see have them around (well...not in boxes anyway). One day I'll find the proper space! :kitty2

    5. They're on display on my walk-in closet. Safe from UV, and my pets. Sadly I don't get to show them off very often

    6. Mine are in there boxes..but I want so much to display them..I do take them out sometimes and dress them and display them for the day but right back in the box they go at the end of the day but hope soon I'll get over my fear of breaking them and give in and display them longer

    7. Display! Im working on a project of making a set for my dolls residence and comfort

    8. i have a wooden cabinet with glass doors in my room so thats where they are except for when i take on of em out to sit on my desk with me

    9. I display mine in the cabinet:kitty2

    10. I display on my bookcase I like to see them and have easy access to them to dress them and photoshoots.
If I’m going to be away for a while I do put them away in their boxes in the closet I don’t thrust anyone when I’m away. I’ve also cut down my collection so it’s easy to put away

    11. The only doll/figure etc. I have boxed up is Franz and that’s because he’s too tall and heavy for my current display situation. Everything else is either on a bookshelf, Detolf, or sitting on top of my dresser.

Mika has a vinyl head and keeping her out also makes it easier for me to regularly check for staining.

    12. I have a wood display cabinet with glass doors for them in the doll room, it protects them from dust or being knocked over by the cat.

    13. On display, absolutely! Seeing them makes me happy :). I often wish I could place them anywhere I like without having to worry about damage from sunlight. As it is, my dolls are all in the hallway of my flat, because there is no direct sunlight there.
I have too many now to fit inside the display cupboard :sweat, so some are on a side table and a few are on a tablet. At first, I worried that they might weird out any visitors, but in the meantime, I'm so used to them being there that I don't really think about people's reactions anymore.

    14. I put most of my dolls on display, but since I'm currently out of the country and won't see them for a while, they're back in their boxes since my shelf is facing old 70s track lights that usually aren't used by me, but someone might use them as the default room lighting.

    15. For the first about 5 years I always kept them in their boxes because I was really worried about yellowing. Then I guess I realized I was worried for no reason (I had blackout curtains I kept shut 24/7/365 and all my lighting is LEDs) so I moved my small diorama/display to an open shelf as well as built a much bigger open diorama that most of the rest of the dolls would fit in, and they stayed that way for some years.

Then, this year's January I suddenly got really into home decorating and even though the style I love (eclectic) and now practice in my own home is pretty much the only style in which dolls on display actually kinda fit the style... I realized I just really don't like seeing my dolls all the time, so, back into hiding they went. :sweat Not back into boxes though, thankfully I could make space in my closets for them so they still stay easily accessible for when I actively do want to look at them or do something with them.

To elaborate further on why I don't like seeing the dolls all the time, I think, at least lately, seeing them has been stressing me out a bit. Even looking at the few I consider essentially completed, they tend to remind me of all the doll projects I have wanted to do but haven't been able to due to various reasons I can't really do anything about myself. Granted, most of that kind of stress went away with moving half of the sewing and crafting supplies from clear to opaque boxes, so I'm kinda hoping that if I can get the rest of the supplies stored similarly, then maybe I could have at least 1 doll just hanging out in the open occasionally without me turning into a ball of stress because of it... :sweat

    16. Out! And some of them get handled/played with/carried around/taken places a LOT. I bought them to enjoy them, not keep them hidden away,

Of course, my first doll was about twelve years old and a little banged up and, as I realized later, yellowed, so I wasn't as concerned with her getting damaged or yellowing. (And yes, I knew the condition she was in when I bought her from a friend, but I loved her then and love her still.)

    17. On display too, my (lack of) object permanence means I won't interact with them as much if I can't see them. They're currently in my bedroom closet because it has extra curtains which I close during the day. But my real goal is a two bedroom(minimum) apartment/house, so I can have a separate room to keep dark for all my dolls and figures

    18. I keep them in the box only because there is no escape from the sun in my room. I do keep my curtains closed all the time and i wish there was a way i could display them.

    19. I'm only keeping my dolls (BJD and non-BJD) in their boxes when I don't have room for them or when I rotate my display. But the dolls I keep in display are usualy kept in my curio cabinet, away from sunlight. The boxes are just a way to protect them when I have to store them. I would rather have them all displayed at the same time but I don't have enough space for that :atremblin

    20. I display them, even though I do not have enough space. Putting them in boxes, can't help me get the sense of achievement.
