1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

On Display or in their Boxes?

Feb 7, 2022

    1. I like mine out and displayed. I do have to rotate them as I do not have enough display space for them all to be out at the same time.

    2. Mine are all on display. It would drive me crazy if I had an expensive doll trapped in a box. Space is becoming a problem though, so I'm limiting myself with new purchases.

    3. Away in their boxes like many others say in this thread... our apartment is small and there's just no good place to display them right now. Some day they will get a proper display space... Until then I'll just take them out for a couple days at a time and sit them on the shady part of the couch, haha :XD:

    4. I keep all my dolls out. If I kept my dolls in their boxes I would completely forget they exist, lol. Thankfully I don't have too many to display, but one day I might get to that point, and then idk what I'll do. Thankfully I have more than just my bedroom to put them in, though.

    5. I would like to have my dolls out on display but I have nowhere to display them. So unless I'm having them out to try on things or taking photos, they live in their boxes.

    6. Mine are all on display and out of sunlight, except for dolls I haven't "created yet". For example I have a full blank doll, two blank heads, and a body who will all stay in their boxes until I do something with them.

    7. I basically keep all my dolls out on display. I do keep them out of direct sunlight, but I'll admit that sometimes I do worry that I might be making them age faster this way. :sweat

Still, I want to be able to look at my dolls and enjoy this hobby to the fullest! So I pretty much only have them in boxes if:
      1. They're "incomplete" - I tend to keep my still-in-progress projects in boxes and display them once I'm at least somewhat satisfied with how I've styled them. The satisfaction of adding that new addition to display once they're complete feels great.
      2. The doll has gotten floppy, so I keep them in the boxes until I've had a chance to re-string them properly. When I re-string I tend to also take this chance to do a fully cleaning and maintenance of the doll so sometimes they do stay in the box for a while until I get the time to do so.

    8. When I was much younger I was hellbent on keeping my dolls pristine. That meant before bed every night, I stripped them down, scrubbed them with a magic eraser, and packed them away safely in their boxes. These days I'm more casual, I still take great pride in keeping them clean but I'm not as strict with the "bed time" routine. I also don't pack them away anymore. I have far too many dolls to do that at this point. They have their own little area in my closet, out of the sunlight.

    9. Most of mine are on display! I put them on the top of my dresser and cabinet.
The ones I don’t display are WIPS or ones I don’t plan on keeping.

    10. Mine are out on display but away from dust and sunlight in a cabinet. It makes me happy to see them :3
If I stored them in the boxes, I would certainly be too lazy to take them out regularly :'D

    11. I live by myself so I have the luxury of letting my dolls be "free-range" -- they end up all over my apartment, basically wherever I put them down. Usually sitting on a shelf or on their doll-sized bench, but sometimes I leave them standing up on the carpet while leaning against furniture or the wall.

I like having my dolls free-range since I enjoy seeing them as I walk around my apartment. I think of them a bit like (nonliving) housemates who share my living space, so I don't like to put them behind glass, and I don't have any glass cabinets anyway. I have a bit of the 'things that aren't in my field of vision basically don't exist' ADHD trait, so if I put them back into boxes I'm 100% going to forget about them.

    12. I have a couple of Pullips still in a box because they have great big windows, but honestly i cant imagine putting my DD/SDGr back in a box, i absolutely love them out so i can stare at them like a weirdo for too long xD!

My only ever worry is our cat, he loves to chew on..*everything*.. So its definitely a concern, but until he gets a bug up his butt to eat my girl again, im keeping her out and enjoy her!

    13. On display/shelf, always, for me!
I make sure there is no direct sunlight or much light at all!
In some houses I’ve lived in, I put my BJDs on the shelf, but I also put a « cloth » or « veil » or whatever to reduce light if there is a lot of light in the room/directed at my BJDs.
I just want to look at them haha.
