One doll is good enough!....or Is it?

I never really said just one... when I first ordered a doll I ended up ordering about 3 before my first one came home to me. I think I remember thinking maximum 5 or 10, but I'm almost at 10 now.. scary >< and I have some more planned!

 

I said just one... I'm ordering my second resin girl next week. >.>

If I count my incomplete DD, that would make three. The strange thing is, it feels almost like impulse buying at this point. Maybe the high of ordering and waiting and opening is really what we like. Luckily it takes me a while to save, so this shouldn't get too out of hand.

We'll see if next year I eat my words... Again.

Yep. I swore up and down that I would only need one doll, and that he will be enough for me. Well, evidently I couldn't help wanting more! Now I have eight (O_O) and two more planned. Pretty sure my sister is the same way, she has four and a floating head.

 

-.-' I was one of those who said "only one", then a month later it became "only 4", then it became "7", and now I'm at 9 with two to be ordered, and I'm thinking I may eventually settle in the 13 region...

 

Absolutely! Everyone needs a friend! They'd get lonely without one!

 

i felt one doll is not enough. Im thinking about completing a family dolls and with 2 little one too

Am I seriously the only one who is successfully owning one doll and only one with no intentions of getting any more dolls? I am starting to feel kind of like the odd one out here.

 

I pretty much knew what I was getting into from the get-go, but now im at about 14 and counting! Plus im at the phase of "well anthros shouldnt count because theyre more like...accessories. And vinyl shouldnt count..." My plans stop between 30-40 im hoping...

Before I ordered my first doll I spoke to my friend who had 2 dolls already then less than 2 months later she had like 4 dolls and a head (or something like that). I was like wow that was fast 0.o. Heh Yea now I know how that happens.
I ordered my first doll (got a small one free with it yay) before those 2 even came in I bought a brownie, a SD (at otakon ^_^), 2 heads, and have a limited edition on layaway. 0.0
Though the limited edition I blame on his vampire mind control (no really i couldnt help myself). I also have 3 other dolls planned and really want to get aleast the head of a doll that will be discontinued soon.
I honestly didn't plan on just 1 but I also didn't think I would be getting them this fast. Self control is not a virtue I possess in this case. Hmm why am I not so sad about that. ^_^

 

Before even buyng my first doll I was sure that I would have only 2 dolls (one female and one male), now I've 4, but I'm sure I'll buy at least 2 more doll. Luckily I'm able to mantain a shopping slow pace.

 

I am scared after reading some of the posts. I also intended to buy one doll whom I can lavish all my love and attention on. And now I may lose the battle with self-control and temptation and buy 10!! But I think it is relatively cheaper to have one doll or a few of similar measurements so things you buy for them are interchangeable, not like a mini and a SD. I think I shall limit myself to 2 or 3 dolls.

 

I admire you for your self-control, Saruna-chan, and I am sure many on DOA agree with me.

 

I thought I would only have one doll in the past............ However I have much more than before.... haha XD It is a little bit hard for me just having one doll. I love twins very much QQ

 

I definitely though my PW Skiya would be my only doll, she wasn't exactly my first BJD but my first non-second hand BJD. I now have many more and sometimes wish I hadn't started collecting because now it would be so hard to part with any of them... plus I bought a big cabinet to put them in (do you see how this snowballs!!!?) and it would echo in there if I went back to just one.

I do look at them all sometimes and think "What was I thinking?"

 

I only had one (and one who never left the box, so I never counted her) for over two years. At the end of last year I suddenly went mad, and I now have 7 with two more on Layaway!! Sadly the oldest both went to fund one of the new ones. I've learnt over time, attachments in this hobby can be broken easily when a 'must have' is released

Yes, it is true that it's cheaper to have a few dolls of similar size that can share clothes, eyes, wigs and shoes. Most of my SD sized dolls share. So do my MSD sized dolls and tinies. XD
I have an odd sized Chic-line doll, so I'm thinking of getting another one so they can share stuff.

 

I never told myself that one doll would be enough. I also didn't tell myself anything along the lines of Afanasiy needing dolls to represent his family, love interests, friends and acquaintances. I was actually very happy with only him because I was dreaming about owning him for over two years. In fact, I didn't even bother looking for dolls for nearly half a year because I had him.

But then...I decided to visit DoA again. Checked out the news section and a purple skinned doll was released. Well, she was actually lavender...but w/e close enough! Purple, my absolute most favorite color. I had to have her! Fast forward to this day: I have two full dolls (head+body+clothes/accessories/shoes/wigs), three heads with planned bodies, and two more full dolls on the way.

I think the only sure way to say 'I only need one doll b/c one doll is good enough' and to follow it is to stay off this forum (kudos to those who stick to what they believe). This place is addictive (and so is the process for searching for the next perfect one)!
