1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

One doll is good enough!....or Is it?

Oct 22, 2009

1. When i first got into the hobby, before i had even ordered my first doll, i didn't think i'd have more than one. And well...Demetri arrived in June, Mihr arrived just yesterday, and i have plans for three more! I want to keep my doll family small-ish at five, but i think they might get some more family members in the future. XD;;

2. I didn't think "One", I was going to settle at two. But now my wishlist contains six... I just HOPE this will be enough!

3. "I'm only going to have one doll."

Great plan, but unfeasible! I now have four! Originally, I wanted one perfect doll, then I got some skills built up and wanted to do my own face up. Now I want to create more characters!

Also, the doll companies are to blame! More choices every month! :doh

4. I wish I could have stopped at just a few...like 10. Now I have over 60....

5. Despite the fact that my first doll is still in the mail, I'm very sure that one will never be enough. At the very least, she needs a lover...and maybe a friend...and you know, I'd like to get one that isn't bobobie once I get the three from them that I got all <3 eyes about. Lol, I'm already hunting down 70cm guys and hyped for MP access, and...well. No. One is never enough. x3

6. I'm still very new but personally, one doll is enough for me. If I was here for the same reasons as everyone else, I'm sure I wouldn't stop at one. My reason is because I'm not totally into dolls and this is just another part of my obsession for the character it will shell. Even now though, I see some dolls that are really pretty and I think "Wow if I were really into dolls, I would get that one", and then I forget about it and move on. I mean, they're cool to me, but not $500-$1000 cool. I'd rather just spend any money on the one I have instead of another doll.

7. I think I'll always be okay with having one or at most two dolls at a time. This hobby isn't so much a collection for me. There are tons of dolls I want to buy, but I'll have to sell my current before I bought a new one. I've actually decided to sell my current doll because I have a new one I'm waiting on. One doll is good I think, if you can give all of your love and attention to it. I think for me, three dolls is the maximum amount.

8. I'm new as well. Before and around placing my first order, I was happy for just one, until....
perhaps another one, a male, more pose choices, then I saw a very adorable tiny, and would like to get one too someday. So yeah, I guess one's not enough. :sweat

9. Well, a few years ago I bought a collectible Barbie Silkstone, I just wanted her because she was beautiful, I'm 20 now, then I went to the Fashion Royalty, Pullips, Dal, now I'm almost fifty, I also thought, I just want one.
This year started with the BJD, I just wanted Luke # 1 DOD, now I have two boys and am expecting a girl.
I always say just one and now I have a headache afterwards to make room for all.（￣□￣；）

10. At first I thought I could only settle with one too, but now I'm constantly looking an affordable companion for her. Having only one big doll seems a bit lonely... I'd also love to have photoshoots with 2 or more dolls.

11. I always planned to buy more than one ^^ But I've had Ein for four years now, and only now have I decided which one to buy next.

12. So far I have been happy with my one doll. But she is still new to me.

13. Oh I know that. I was too like One is enough, then the thinking was only 5 then only 10 now its around I won't get more than 15 for sure. Still there is my second coming but there is atleast 5 molds I really want as my own and one I have head and need body.
When you start dolls one is rarely enough in the end*_*

14. It is weird, when I took up BJD I myself never thought about getting just one. It never even crossed my mind to think that I would limit this in any way. Since from day one, I liked more than one doll.
Then I heard many people say, they promised/thought they would get only one.
I just want to get dolls I love, i guess space and money are the best limits for me... :sweat

15. I only ever meant to have one. Then I bought him a friend, with whom I didn't bond instantly. (I am quite fond of her now, though).

I can stop now, for the reason that there aren't any other sculpts out there that appeal to me. If a new doll came out who entranced me as much as my first guy, I'd be delighted to purchase, but so far the magic just hasn't happened. There are a lot of bjds whose beauty I am in awe of, but I'm content to look and don't want to own.

This is sort of a relief, because as the OP said, I can pour all of my love (read: money) into my first guy!

I've also noticed that, as in real life, I wouldn't fancy a crowd. Even when I play RPGs and MMOs, I have very few alts. I get attached to one character and don't really want another.

16. Then buying the first one I promissed that she would be the one and I would never want any other doll...Well, I bought another one during the first month :)
I really apreciate people who are strong enogth to buy only one doll

17. I always wanted just one, ended up with three, sold two but now I'm waiting on two more :D

I finally realized that having one doll was good for a lot of reasons but that I have too many ideas and characters for me to be able to have a single doll. I ended up always being disatisfied with her because I was trying to cram too many personalities and styles into one doll.

Now I will just get separate dolls for each of those characters :)

18. I first thought I wanted only one too, because they were expensive, and like you said, figured I'd put all my love in that doll :P

So when my search began I found one that was going to be my first, but also one that would make a perfect brother for him! (he was super pretty)

But another day I continued searching and fell in love with another doll, so now I decided I'd get those two first and the big brother later.

I know though, that I also want a girl and a toddler, but I just haven't searched for them yet and probably won't for a while because as soon as I want something it's hard to restrain myself from getting it. I'm already tempted to buy the two dolls at once, but won't because I want to bond and practice with my first before getting a second.

I also want a cyborg doll, an elf and a half-animal, so that makes an estimate of eventually buying 8 dolls. I don't even want to think of how much money that's going to cost x_X

However, I think now, that after those 8 dolls, my collection will be complete. :)

19. I had the same feeling about owning more than one. I didn't want to feel spread out as far as my attention and focus. Everything changed when I happened to stumble across one that I had to adopt. Once that happened, my single child concept went out the window.

I don't regret having several now. They all have their unique personality and each seems to complete the other in some way.

20. I bought my doll saying "it will be my first and last doll" because I don't have the time or money to get sucked into this hobby. However, I've already been sort of thinking along the lines of getting my girl a boy to have around, so... hm... Will it never stop? Who knows.
