One doll is good enough!....or Is it?

Oct 22, 2009

    1. I managed the "only one" thing for 2 years. Mainly since I was on a rapid search for clothes for him. Needless to say once I found those I thought to get just one more since I thought he might like a friend. I'm up to 5 now and saving up for number's 6 and 7.

    2. Well, I would like to keep to the "only one" principle.

Unfortunately, Iplehouse has crossed my plans a bit with issuing their little kids. And of of these looks sooo much like our daughter shortly before breaking in tears when she was younger. This pouty look, these eyes...love.

So I am heavily contemplating right now. Guess she will be heading home in a not too short time...

And I think that Julian might be a bit lonely on the long run...

    3. Like just about everyone else who said once thought 'yes' to this question, I too, thought that the prices of BJD's would keep me from buying another one. Well I was wrong! To me, dolls are like tattoos, and I have a ton of those!.. you eventually get over that general pain-in-the-ass obstacle and you find that they're awesome! When I bought my first BJD, I was very happy with her and didn't think I'd find another, but then I discovered "by accident" another one that I fell in love with, and so she came home not too long after. And then another accident, and another! Hell, I hope I become like some of you guys on here who have more than 10!

    4. I planned to keep the only one policy because my dad doesn't want me to waste anymore money but I'm already looking at what dolls to buy next. OTZ
      I guess I need one more just to be friends with my doll. ;;

    5. I have over 50 because I like to photograph them and I get tired of photographing the same doll over and over. But sometimes I wish I had only one, and just photographed that doll. As soon as I think that I see another new doll that I decide I really want.
I have often thought I wish there was some kind of lending library where you could just check out dolls for a while, then bring them back and check out another one. That way I wouldn't have so many dolls, but I would still get to use a variety of them. :)
I should sell off some of my dolls but I can't bear to. I will decide to sell one, then she/he looks at me with sad eyes and I change my mind. Or I will decide to sell a couple, and my daughter freaks out and tells me I can't sell them (I think she's afraid if I can sell my dolls, I could sell her too).
I do end up with a few favorites that I use the most- and the ironic thing is that they are not my most expensive dolls (in fact, the opposite). My expensive dolls end up staying home where they are safe, and the ones I take out into the world all the time are my Obitsus and Bobobie/Resinsouls. So I end up being more bonded to them, and if I only had a couple, it would be those.

    6. I told myself I would only have one due to lack of space. Since I moved into a bigger apartment I been looking more and more into getting more. I have 3 now ordered xD

But in general I enyy the people who can be content with one. xD Saves them alot down the road.

    7. I just bought my first doll in March, and I'm still bonding with her as it is...I am still learning face-ups and saving up for a second outfit and some more wigs/eyes for her. There is really no way I even could get a second doll financially, and I'm very happy with my girl. I have days where I think about getting a second doll but then I realize I could just re-do my own girl's face and get her a new wig instead. I haven't had her long enough to really think about getting a second doll, so for now I'm more than content having only one (I'm still trying out different personalities and looks, I haven't found just one that fits.) Maybe it will change later, but for now one doll is plenty.

    8. I think one doll is good enough more me, but I think I'd really like two or three just for the variety. If I could afford it, haha.

    9. I'm still waiting to start my collection, and I'm using the word "collection". I know myself well enough to know saying "just one" isn't going to happen. I can think of three already I'd like to have. If I bought them all at once, that wouldn't be super smart budget-wise. Still, I anticipate buying two in the next year for sure...

    10. I believe so. BUT you have to never look at new dolls or galery threads. So many are being made on a constant basis it's hard to not see more than one you'll want.

    11. I have just bought my first one. I think she will be lonely for some years, but it's not my fault. it's just because my parents have the credit card and even if I use my own money they don't want to use them :|. I'd like to have 4 bjds: two girls and two boys (maybe XD)!! I will probably get my second one when I'll finish school and star university (and I'm sixteen :().

    12. I thought just one would be good. And then I got a second. And now I want 5.

    13. I never intended to have just one. The first doll I bought was half of a couple. We're still waiting for his lover to arrive (hopefully next week!). I like all of my dolls to have lovers or belong to a group. For example, I also ordered an Asian doll. He's Korean and I want him to have a Chinese boyfriend. And I have a dragon doll coming, and I want him to belong to a "monsters" collection of misfit, non-human dolls.

    14. I have a wishlist of 12 dolls - 95% of which are only heads. I have one Puki and an LE on there, but most of them are heads.

      They're like potato chips.

    15. For me I never had the opportunity to even think if one would be enough, since I got two at once. *laughs* But then again, I knew from the beginning that one would never be enough. When I got my second MSD to keep the one I already had company, it just made me happy to see he got a friend. I now have three dolls and two floating heads, and in January I'm most probably getting two more dolls along with a body for one of the floating heads. Then I'll have six.....

I don't care though. I love having these pretty things around, and I've got a lot more plans for future dolls. :)

    16. I'm planning on getting two boys (as a couple), and I have no idea if I'll keep buying more dolls after them. I'm pretty lucky that I'm really, really picky about designs, so I don't have a big wishlist anyway. ;)
I don't really see myself owning 50+ dolls in a few years. But.. who knows.

    17. It's almost the other way around for me :...(
I actually planned a pair, but it's already 2 years past since I bought my first boy~ but I do think I will be able to stop at two, when I get a friend for my Jae, or will I ? :sweat

    18. NOPE, I knew from the get go I would end up with several. My mom collects antique dolls, so just having 1 is a rather unusual thought for me. Im a "collector" from a long line of "collectors" of various types of things. (some of their "collections" have spilled over into the "hoard" catagory, one uncle has over 600 antique cars, real cars, rusting in ware houses all over kansas)

    19. Yeah...I said that to. Then a friend was getting reid of a body (...sounds like a hit and run) and I bought it off her and got my 60cm Obitsu. I had also been staring at a Dollleaves Royal annnd that one is coming on Monday (YES) and My girlfriend bought a 70 Doll zone at the time of the deer boy...so he's mine now to ;w; .....I keep staring at the Soom unicorn as well. SO tempted guy!

I feel getting other dolls just kind of happens!

    20. I always wanted two from the beginning. I recently love photographing dolls and in my mind two is enough to make interactions. I bought a doll originally for drawing model since I'm a pro manga artist and bjd works wonder if compared to the stiff wood figurin. But when my first doll arrived, which is DZ Hong...I kind of gaping on the detail and prettiness of it, and from that point it slowly blooms as a real hobby. I never want to have more than two tough, since I fully take care the dolls I have and their maintenance is never cheap :sweat also, I'm the type who's so picky on design and love buying outfits and accecories more rather than buying a new doll/head. I will have two dolls coming over in the next two months, and when that happens I will let go one that i currently have.:sweat
