One outfit or more?

Mar 1, 2018

    1. Clothes are pretty much THE biggest part of the hobby for me, so I absolutely have more than one outfit per doll. In fact, one of the biggest factors that influences whether or not I'll buy a doll is if it's easy to find cute clothes for them.

    2. I agree with @Shamshir! My dolls have a lot of clothes... spoiled brats.
I make a lot of clothes - I really enjoy it, despite the fact that many of them don't work out. So their collection keep growing...
And yet I tend to only keep them in one set. I change clothes every now and then, but quite quickly change back...*_*

But as mentioned, the customization (option) is why these dolls are so enjoyable!

    3. I like to have a bit of a wardrobe for each doll, but I must admit, the larger the doll, the less outfits she has due to cost, since I can’t sew. Hope to learn to sew, though.

    4. I just got my doll fairly recently, so as of this point I only have a few outfits:

      1 pair of pants
      1 pair of shoes
      3 jackets
      1 shirt
      3 wigs
      3 pairs of eyes

And then accessories like hair ribbons and jewelry. So I already have more outfits than dolls, and I'm probably going to keep it like this. Since the dolls can be customized so much, I can use a bunch of different outfits for the same dolls and have a completely different look

This is my entire collection so far, so it's still pretty small

    5. I have only a few but I find I always change to the one outfit... It just looks amazing! I get changing outfits for pictures and stuff but for my display I always wind up using the same one.

    6. More outfits is better. I have more than one thing to wear so why shouldnt they? I am still learning to sew though. Hopegully by the time I get my doll I will be able to make some fun things for her.

    7. I have boxes of clothes and they all just share them although they each have their own kind of style.

    8. It depends a lot on the individual doll over here... Some of my crew have one or two outfits that just suit them so perfectly that they rarely if ever wear anything else. Others end up in something different every time I take them out of the cabinet to tinker with.

It's that second group that have driven my "wardrobe collecting". These days, I pretty much collect doll outfits as much as I've ever collected the dolls themselves....

At least extra sets of doll clothes take up a lot less space than new dolls would...

I'm just going to keep reminding myself of that.

    9. My current plan is to buy a whole bunch of clothing in black and then just mix and match them for all my 1/4 dolls... Black matches with everything, right? My dolls don't have specific "styles" anyways... they all goth

I know in the future I'm going to start just buying stuff because it's cute/a good deal but... I'm fighting that off as long as I can...

    10. I require all of my dolls to have multiple outfits, unless they are a pet/fantasy creature who doesn't really require clothes. The only time they have just one outfit is when I just haven't gotten around to buying more or am saving up for it. I love that each of them has their own style and colors and for the most part, aside from very basic pieces like jeans and solid color t-shorts, they don't really share anything, it's all their individual stuff.

    11. Actually, I think I have more doll clothes than my own lol... I really like having different coordinations with various clothing items and I get sick of one outfit if I dress my doll with it more than 4~5 times. Sometimes I feel like I have my dolls for upgrading my fashion skills or something... Oh well but I love buying their clothes more than mine :wiggle

    12. Gotta have LOTS of clothes! My bjds have closets and dressers!

    13. I'm glad the discussion has so many answers.:kitty2
Also I believe that my dolls have more clothes than me @rachel1222 :XD:

    14. I have half outfits for everyone. No one has a full outfit yet, but soon, soon they will. I plan to have a whole "Fullset Outfit" for each of them and then a few other projects to work on if i ever feel the need to change them up. I dunno, I have a hard time completing one single project. Right now, I'm working on my Petsha, but working full time has made it kinda hard to find time to sit and paint and glue a bunch of tiny foam armor pieces.

    15. I love taking pictures of my dolls in differents outfits so I definitively have more outfits than dolls.

    16. I am also in the multiple outfits camp. It just wouldn't feel right to have this complex character who is a noble girl, and have her with only one dress. An aristocrat would have more! It helps me immerse myself in the different aspects of my bjds character as well as looking gorgeous.

    17. I have always sewn. I honestly bought the dolls so I would have someone who was always available for fittings, as it is hard to get your friends to show up for 3 am fittings, when I feel like sewing in the middle of the night. My first doll I meant to be an only child so to speak, I stuck that out for four years, in which I probably made him several dozen outfits...but eventually I could not resist and bought more dolls, I am up to ten now. Some have a lot of clothes, some less, I only sew when I can find the free time, I work a 50 hour week. So I don't sew as much as I used to when I had more free time.

    18. Sewing in the middle of the night sounds fantastic!

Also, a wig change practically demands a new outfit! Choices and changes make bjds so much fun!

    19. I sew. I do have a ton (like, nearly 50) BJDs, but my goal is for them all to have at least a minimum wardrobe (ie seasonal clothing, plus casual, business, special occasion stuff). I made a ton of beach clothing a couple years ago, and went nuts knitting.
Also my crew are all cosplayers, so they all have at least one costume (whether cosplay or historical) planned - most of those are done in fact.
The idea of having a doll sit around day in, day out in only one outfit bores me to tears, honestly LOL

    20. I have an entire full-sized closet in my house that is just for my dolls clothing. To be fair, I have a lot of dolls... but it is a little frightening how much I have for them.
