ONLY buying Male & ONLY buying Female Dolls

Jun 9, 2010

    1. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yup, girlies only! I haven't really seen a convincing male BJD, they all look so feminine to me.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I highly doubt it -- I like photographing a soft, natural, versatile face and I don't think males are capable of that... Not in the way I'd enjoy or appreciate anyway.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
In the way that I know I'll enjoy photographing girls more, since they're just cuter! Lol.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes! I'm after a certain Luts boy at the moment -- He'd make an adorable girl :D

    2. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
"Accidentally" it become I have only male dolls but it's not like I'm totally against female ones. The real reason is all my current dolls are anyhow my first dolls I wanted most (first doll I loved but couldn't had bought immediately and bought later, for example) and as a first doll I wanted a boy.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes, I'm thinking of it and have several variants of female I want, but I don't think it will be soon -even three dolls is many for me, don't know how will I live with four, all need attention and love.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I can say I like more male dolls next to me because I really don't know how to communicate with female ones, but from the aesthetic side sex doesn't mean much.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Only if it really looks like the opposite gender to me and if I really like it.

    3. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I used to only have female dolls, and have had them because it it just came in mind I wanted her. My heart melts everytime I look at female dolls I like, which overruled my want of purchasing a male doll. However, I placed an order for my first male doll recently! and do have a few more Wants for male dolls. If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
lately, I have had a few wants for male dolls. Not because of wanting to balance the gender of my dolls but rather just because there are acutally some out there that appeal to me.
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I suppose so, it might sound weird that im a girl attracted to the female figure dolls?!? There is just so many more beautiful curves and bumps in a female than a male.
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
No, I really dont think so. Although, I already have the feeling of wanting to cross dress my boy when he gets here. But I am definetly keeping him a boy, just a boy that is unwillingly being crossed dress by the big person!

    4. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yes I actually do. Only girls. Why it is so I dont really know. I find them beautifull and appealing. They are a connection to the feminine part of my soul. I want to express that and finding myself and love me because I love them.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

No at the moment I cant even imagine that ever happend.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Yes. I'm only after girl dolls

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

I really dont think so. Even if I have seen some that was very pretty I dont know why. But it just feels wrong for me.

    5. Yes, I only plan on buying girl dolls.

For me, it's because I can dress a girl in my fantasy of what I would do/wear/look like if I were child/teen/young adult again and had a perfect body. It's a kind of wish-fulfillment stylewise.

I have no interest in male dolls or male clothes. I already have an attractive male to dress and style---my flesh-and-blood boyfriend---and that's enough male dressing and posing for me.

    6. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? I only buy girl dolls, I had one male doll and just ended up making him a floating head because I just don't like the way most men look as dolls.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll? I've tried once and I just find that I connect so much more with the female dolls.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you? I will literally stop looking once I've realized it is a male doll sometimes, I just am completely uninterested in them.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)? If it was a very girlie man's head, then yes. But definitely would never put a female's head on a male body.

    7. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

For the time being yes. I find females are easier to design clothes then males.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

I have plans to buy a male doll at one point of time, but not at this moment.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

      Depends of the sculpt.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Depends of the sculpt. Unisex looking ones yes, but putting a male looking sculpt on a female body and visa versa, no.

    8. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I tend to like female sculpts better then male, though I have seen a couple males that I like, usually from Iplehouse. I can't really explain it, I just know that growing up I had all barbie and one Ken, when I game I choose the female options and when I RP most of my characters are girls. I just always prefer the female form to the male.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      Yes and I have.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yeah, I really do prefer female dolls over male, they're prettier to me and make them all pretty or tomboyish.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
      Yes. I've often clicked on a picture because I thought the head would make a pretty girl and it turned out to be on a guy body ^^;

    9. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Nope! I've actually been wanting a boy doll for a loooooong time and he was my dream but surprisingly I bought a girl first.
To be honest I think I started looking at girl dolls because I didn't want to be one of those owners who only had boy dolls. My problem with the girls was that they were all so pretty, nothing really set one apart from the other for me.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Well, I did! I mean up until this one I had a lot of trouble finding a girl doll I was willing to use all that money on. In the case of boy dolls I kept finding boys that were entirely different from one another and wanting him, then him, then him, then him! But to answer the question, yes I would. If she was special though, I'm not sure if that's easy to understand.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I don't think that's it. Might be. Actually I'd love to be able to make more dresses than vests and pants but I don't really don't want my boy doll to wear dresses. I think it would be easier if I had only girl dolls actually!

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I...don't think so. It's a boy body, it deserves a boy head. What I mean is, poor girl! if she has to be on a boy body as well. I mean... yeah.

I'm fine with people using tomboy sculpts on guy bodies and passing them off as boys, and others using girly boy faces, putting them on girl bodies and passing them off as girls. Having it be a girl head on a boy body or a boy head on a boy body (like saying, "boy with a girl's body" bothers me a lil though, unless it's for a character.

    10. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Technically, the answer to this is no, I buy boys and girls. However, I am going to be selling off my boys very shortly, because over the years I simply could not bond with them. Unlike my girls, the boys are very rarely taken out of their boxes to play with and I just don't know what to do with them most of the time. They are beautiful dolls, but after being in the hobby for over 7 years, I realized that I just want girls. The only possible exception to this is Luts Delf El - I like his sculpt very much and am going to make an effort to bond with him, since I really don't want to see him go.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes, I would consider buying boys, but having had problems bonding with them, I am now extremely picky about boy sculpts. Firstly, they would have to be child dolls. Grown men dolls do not appeal to me at all. Secondly, both face and body sculpt has to be just right. For example, I love the MNF Woosoo and Chiwoo sculpts, but their bodies are just too adult for my taste. On the other hand, LTF boy bodies are just right, but the available sculpts are not quite what I want in my potential boy.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Absolutely. When I look through a company's selection, I always look at the girls first. Sometimes I don't even bother looking at the boys.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I can't say that I would never do this, but it would have to be a very special boy sculpt for me to consider it. There are plenty of wonderful girl sculpts out there already and my shopping list is long enough as it is without adding possible male sculpts I'd like to make into females. Once I get all the girl sculpts that I want, then I'll start looking into making boys into girls :D

    11. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yes, I only buy girl dolls. First of all, I am a straight guy; so naturally, I find girl dolls much prettier than guy dolls. I also keep my girls on display more than actually play with them, and I really like lolita clothing. So a boy doll just wouldn't really fit.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
No, I have no interest in in guy dolls. While only a couple people know I have any dolls in the first place, it is much easier to explain having very lovely girl dolls than guy dolls.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Sure. That is, the gender affects how the sculptor designs the face, which is the make or break of any doll I buy.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Only if it really, really looked like a girl's head.

    12. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

For a long time I only ever was interested in purchasing female dolls. I found them more appealing and I connect/bond better with female dolls, being a girl I also found them funner to dress up/style.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

Yes, recently I have decided to save for my first boy BJD doll, and I'm very excited about it! :)

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Female dolls were always more beautiful and appealing to me, however I always wanted to
eventually invest in a male doll as a boyfriend for one of my girls.
Although a few days ago I discovered boy BJDs that I absolutley LOVED and not just
to be/for a companion to one of my girls, but to be my friend and companion.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

      Yes! :)

    13. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

I just like guys more. Dolls for me are just another way to surround myself with pretty people, and I just like having pretty guys around me more. I mean, if I had to pay for it, you know?

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

Yes, if the sculpt REALLY jumped out at me. Would I play with it much? No, so I wouldn't actually buy it. I'd consider it!

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Yes, because I enjoy having pretty guys around me than pretty girls.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Totally, if it was a sculpt I really liked.

    14. I think that I will only ever buy female dolls. Every different type of doll that I have seen, I am only ever drawn to the females. I've always been that way though. Even when I was younger and collected Barbies and Bratz, I would never buy any male dolls. The most I would get is one or two just so they could have "boyfriends." But the male dolls were never loved or cared for as much as my female dolls were.

    15. I haven't really thought of getting a male BJD..I just want my dolls to be all girls

    16. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
No, I don't. There are more female sculpts that I like than boys, but it wouldn't be as fun for me if I only had female dolls.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      N/A

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I suppose it does. I tend to look at the female dolls first.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I may if I really liked the sculpt.

    17. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Currently I'm only buying females, but that's because I'm new to the hobby (Only one is technically "mine", and she's not here yet, but my GF has 3 and is in a lottery for a fourth, and they're all joint decisions), and we're currently doing only Dollfie Dreams, which only come in female versions.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Absolutely. Both of us wish Volks would make a vinyl guy to match our girls. That aside, we've thought about eventually getting a resin guy to go with our vinyl girls. What's funny is that, despite the super-anime aesthetic of the DDs, we both prefer a more "real" looking guy, and I'm much more inclined toward a more mature, more manly-looking doll than much of the hobby seems to be, and I also prefer more neutral expressions with limited makeup, which makes the options pretty narrow, as the general trend in the hobby seems to be toward the "bishounen" types. I like the iplehouse 70cm guys quite a bit (their girls are really nice, too), and if they ever come out with just the right sculpt, I think we might end up with one. There are also some Volks SDs we've liked quite a bit, like SDGrB Minoru Kamimura.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not really. Dolls don't appeal to me in a way where that would matter.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I think only if I were trying to replicate a character or something, which I don't plan on doing. There are certainly a lot of men in anime and stuff that are specifically feminine in the face.

    18. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Now I have only boy dolls. It doesn't mean that I don't like girl dolls. I simply don't need them for my doll story yet ;)

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I sometimes think of buying a girl for my boy company. I think I'll do. A bit later.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      Don't know exactly.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I want Dia boy, but I think a lot of people like this doll more on the boy body)

    19. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Nope. Well, for now I only have one girl coming, but in terms of ones I'm going to get, it's almost even. I'm trying to find more male dolls though, because I want it to be pretty balanced. In the end it's the character that matters though.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yeah, and I'd be deliberately doing it if it wouldn't come naturally. All-girls/guys gangs creep me out.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not the sex particularly, though it seems that there are certainly more female than male sculpts that appeal to me. But it's not really about sex, more like how bishounen or shota the male dolls tend to be, and how I dislike bishounen.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Definitely! I've actually got two female sculpts I'd like to have on a male body atm, though the other one is sold out ;-; On the other hand, they still have no characters, so I might never get them. A woman with a man's face would be kinda cool too, though not a too manly one.

    20. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have a doll in both genders, but I am more attracted to the guys.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      N/A

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Indirectly I suppose. I prefer male costume and character design to their female counterparts, so I see more "potential," if you will, in male sculpts. However I wouldn't say that their gender alone makes them more appealing to me.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
      Probably not, but who knows.
