ONLY buying Male & ONLY buying Female Dolls

Jun 9, 2010

    1. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
So far, yes. I only buy males. Almost all of my desired dolls are males. I have a hard time identifying with females for some reason and I really like male fashions. Even when I roleplay, whether freeform, on MMORPGs or in D&D, I prefer to play male characters.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I would like to get a Soom Beryl or a Resinsoul Ai someday to make into a specific character that I really like from a D&D game I used to DM for, but other than that, not really. I would never just get a female doll, something I've already done with males.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, but not in a romantic sense. I just don't feel that calling to female dolls the way I do to males.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I'd like to get a RS Dan head on a male body. I love the horns.

    2. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only have females. As a guy, even I would find it strange if I were to have a guy doll.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
So far from all the different types of dolls I've seen, most of the guy dolls are very...pretty. Can't say I would enjoy having a pretty guy doll. Now if there was a guy doll that was totally badass then I would consider it. Such as this Sephiroth doll I saw earlier, which was well modded. In other words, the only time I would get a guy doll if it resembled an action figure kinda.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Absolutely. I love women, their curves and since I collect Dollfie Dreams, their cuteness!

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
No, because I would still know deep down inside that that is a guy's head and it'll haunt me.

    3. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I've always liked female dolls the best.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I would consider it if I really liked the doll, but I probably won't. I like girl dolls because I like making clothing for girls. But I have considered buying a tiny boy doll.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Kind of. As a girl, I guess I kind of relate to them more? I don't know, it's kind of hard to explain. :sweat

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Maybe, if the head was really nice.

    4. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Currently I only have male dolls, and its one MSD and one half-dragon. Its not enough to say I only want male dolls, as I'd love to have a girl.
If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      Yes, I really want to.
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
No, as I love males and females. Fantasy parts make them more appealing for me.
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
      Maybe, it depends.

    5. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
At the moment I only have one male doll - but I never thought about buying a girl. I love beautiful males, especially bishonen...<3I don't know why, but I just don't like female dolls. If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      Nope, don't want to.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Hm. Well, yes. Like I've written above, I love male dolls...<3

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
That could be possible. Some heads I've seen are really beautiful and would fit to the characters I would like to create - but on the other side, I also like more manly faces.

    6. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yes I only buy female doll. I had bought male doll before but I made him look like a nerd.I just don't know how to dress up a boy
      -_-|||
Maybe in my heart I'm an OTAKU. -w-

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      No. I love damsel -3-

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      I don't think so.
I care most about the face .
But female dolls always catch my eye. I don't know why...

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Probably. If there's a face make me love it,no matter it is male or female,I'll take it.

    7. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yes, I buy only female dolls. They seem to be more pretty then male ones for me, so gorgeous formsXD. And I like the girly clothes more:3

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I don't know honestly. I can't imagine to have a male dollXD I just don't know what to do with it.XD I kind of like one male doll but not enought to buy it.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yeah. If it's a female I'll look more closely at her.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Maybe I would. It depends of head I suppose.

    8. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

Yes, female dolls because I like how their bodies are sculpted, the feature of their eyes, face..Just everything. I tend to go for things that are very feminine and buying female doll is part of that. Although there are feminine boy dolls out in the market but I prefer girls over boys. Females tend to be easier to customize for me and I like sewing dresses and making nice jewelry pieces for them :3.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

If I ever come across a boy doll that makes me falls head over heels...Probably.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Sort of, I mean I did mention I prefer females over males more :3. But I do consider how nice their sculpts are ^^.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

      No, I can't imagine it...Well I think it's a bit weird on my hand @.@.

    9. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? Only girls (for now)

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll? Yes, now that I have discovered BJDs, I am quite taken with some of the boy dolls out there and think they would look awesome with my girl bjds.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you? Normally it's a girl because I am attracted to the clothing, wig and overall look. Usually the boy clothing is limited, but the BJD clothing for boys is really great. Love the Renaissance and Steampunk looks.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)? No, I wouldn't be able to get it out of my head that it began its life as the opposite and that it is how the artist envisioned the doll.

Thank you for this thread. It is a very interesting topic.

    10. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I prefer males. I think it's because I find their sculpts more beautiful. Some of the boys I like are on the feminine side and I think they're pretty, and other boys I like are masculine and handsome!

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes, I would do anything for a Soom Amber! She's my dream doll (besides a Migidoll Miho <3). But that's really the only female I'm 100% sure I'd love. Pretty much all other dolls I like are boys. I will get a female someday, and plan on holding out for an Amber. I do like the delicate poses the girls can hold, but I already know males will dominate

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
In a way, I guess, because I am drawn to the males. But I know that there have been a few females that are just as appealing because of their beautiful faceups.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Probably not, but I have seen many that have worked.

    11. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
My roomates and I actually generally dislike female doll molds. It doesn't have anything to do with what we prefer (though we do like the boys more!); it's more that we haven't found even half as many girls that we thought were as pleasing to the eye.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
We do have a FEW girls in the house, the occurence is just rare. The sculpt has to be just right. I have a deep love for Volks Suigintou, but I despise all other Vollks girls. We have an Amber, but we think the rest of Soom's girls have weird faces. It's that sort of thing.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not really- it depends on the character going into that doll.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Guilty. Guiltyguiltyguilty. XD I think doll molds are extremely variable, and with the right faceup/styling almost all of them can look like either gender.

    12. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
So far I've only bought female dolls, one tiny, one MSD and one SD. It just happened that they caught my eye enough for me to want to bring them home.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I am planning to get a male doll at one point, but I haven't been able to find any sculpts that will fit him well enough. I don't think I'd want just girls, it would be nice to have a little variety in the group.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I think girl dolls are generally more appealing to me because I have a lot of female characters, and then I like the idea of dressing them in frilly outfits :kitty2

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I've sort of done this. My Glorydoll Lucy is a girl, but her headmold is sold as both a girl and boy on the site. I think she makes a great girl though, but I've seen some very nice guys too.

    13. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have 17 total and their genders are pretty much split down the middle (9 males and 8 females). I slightly prefer male dolls, since there is more variety available and I like making up male characters a little bit more than female characters, but I always like a balance. I would buy more females if there were more body types other than "hourglass shape with deer legs, washboard tummy and large perky breasts".

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
There are some sculpts I come across that I wish you could get as the opposite gender; mostly male sculpts I would prefer more if they were female.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I've only done this with my latest (BID Erzulie), who was marketed as a female, but the option was there so I chose to have the doll as male. The BIDs were created to be androgynous, though.

    14. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? ~~~I only have one. Its a girl :)

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll? ~~~~Definately. In fact, i Plan that the next doll i own will be a male.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?~~~~~ Depending on the mold, yes. But i'd like to own at least one girl before I own a guy (hence me buying a girl doll first)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)? ~~~~No. I wont change my doll's head. I'd feel bad XD

    15. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

I'm seriously trying not to get only male dolls, but only male sculpts appeal to me. Or whenever I do see a female doll that I like, they are either out of stock, limited edition, would look better if they had smaller boobs/larger boobs or look better as a guy. And also, part of me thinks that my male dolls (the ones who look girlier and have a slimmer body) can play the part of a girl by me giving them a dress to wear.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

      Totally! ...if a girl doll totally appeal to me... >_>;

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Nope~ I like them all. I do prefer smaller girls since they have a much larger variety of clothes that they can wear. (So I say, but I still own only boys. =_=|||)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

      Yes. (Already planning on it.)

    16. ONLY buying Male & ONLY buying Female Dolls
I have come to understand that people play favourite when buying dolls when it comes to company... sculpt... and even gender. SO I have a few questions

Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

We have one MSD girl and the other two are SD boys. My daughter and I both tend to like the boys better for some reason. Also, our little girl is so special to us that we both feel kind of weird about getting another one.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

Absolutely. I'd like to have an SD girl. As soon ass we get the next two boys purchased ;)

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

No. We tend to lean toward the boys, but love our girl the best!

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Sure! If you can't get what you want, FrankenDolly is the way to go!

    17. As of right now i only have one doll, and it is a girl. Well I am not against getting a boy doll, i would haft to really love him to get it

    18. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only buy girl dolls, because of the range of clothing i guess (yes i know boys can wear dresses too in this BJD world) but i like my gender stereotype and why have a girly boy when you can have a girl?

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I havnt yet seen any boys i just squee'd over, if i did consider a boy doll he would have to be my perfect vision and not look too girly. i do like other peoples boy dolls but overall i like girls better

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
yes i love girl dolls, i love that they can be incredibly feminine and cute at the same time, i like all styles of female dolls.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
my AoD has a boy head (An) but was sold on a girl body, the head looks girly enough that it works and i love her.(she was my first doll) to me when the heads are concerned they can be of either gender depending upon the faceup, as people can have boyish faces when female and guys can have girly faces.

    19. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Right now I do only have female dolls.. That's because I generally find myself able to relate/bond with them more. Also love female fashion styles (especially lolita, victorian, "girlish-romantic" etc~

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I've actually always planned to get boy dolls - it's just that cost is an issue and with my current budget I wanted to get my girls first~

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
...Mm, not really, I think I would love either gender the same..?

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
      I have seen some dolls that could be used for both - but generally they are also sold with the option of either gender (eg. Kid Delf Bory), so I'm not sure if that's me thinking of it on my own, or the option simply resenting itself to me and I like one of the options....? ^^;;;

    20. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
So far I had subconsciously done so until my first boy's arrival. I'd love to have a mixture, but I find it very hard to find male sculpts that I like that are in the right size.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes! female dolls have thus far appealed to me more than male dolls especially curvey characters!

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I was thinking of it! but I dont think I will have to anymore since Luts had decided to sell the head in male form too :D
