ONLY buying Male & ONLY buying Female Dolls

Jun 9, 2010

    1. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
At moment i have only boys. I like girl dolls too but not that much i would buy them. Now i have only one doll what i would buy and it's boy.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes i would. Maybe someday i will buy girl doll. Just right now i am not going to buy bjd.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      No I don't think so.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I think the idea is interesting. And i always look BJD websites for what could look good as opposite gender. I'm not really going to get one. But it's still fun to just look and imagine.

    2. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
So far I've ordered one guy and three girls. I'm planing on two more girls. And I don't know why. I just liked the sculpts better.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      N/A

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, but only because girls are way nicer to buy a variety of clothes for.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes. I'm considered getting a male head for a female body, because the head I want looks very feminine.

    3. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Currently all my of dolls are male. Simply because they are the ones I've liked the most.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
There's only ever been one female doll that I really want to get.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I'm not sure. I've noticed that a lot of the time I prefer male characters over females (even with stuff like stuffed animals or movie characters, etc), but that doesn't mean I dislike female characters or dolls. I think I'm just drawn to male characters more easily.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I have considered this in the past. It's not something I expect to ever do, but there is a possibility.

    4. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Female dolls tend to catch my eye more, just because i think most of the time, they have an appropriate look i want. The male dolls usually do not. Most look like girls, and the faceups are too feminine. Although i am LOVING Iplehouse's SID dolls

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes! I am considering a few haha

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, for me, the female beauty is more beautiful than a male's in terms of dolls. Females are just, captivating haha

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Yes, i've seen a few. Aurora's head looks masculine, but she is the perfect mold for blushing and taking makeup

    5. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I bought a male doll first (he just didn't work for me ><) and am now buying my first girl doll...
I'm far more attracted to the female dolls. Although I am very particular about their bodies. So far only Unoas and Minifรฉes (like my girl) have made me want t buy them.
I think this is mostly because I'm more attracted to females though.
My boy doll bored me after a while- I kept wishing he had girly curves!

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I don't think I'll be buying a male doll again; in fact the next doll I plan will be my incoming girl's girlfriend.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Definitely. Like I said before, I love the curves of the female bodies. Especially the legs on Minifรฉes and Unoas. So curvy and perfect.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Well my next doll will possibly be a Luka and supposedly this is a male sculpt... so definitely.

    6. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Currently all I own is female dolls. I find them more appealing because being a girl myself each of my dolls have a certain trait or quality of me.
If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes, as a matter a fact I am currently looking at a male doll which I hope to buy.
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Sometimes. I tend to prefer female dolls, but there are a few male dolls I really like.
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Maybe. It would depend on the sculpt, and how much I liked it. I've considered it.

    7. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? I have so far only bought male dolls. Probably because I used to be super addicted to Yaoi. . .

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll? Yes, I am considering buying a female doll at the moment. But, I'm not sure if that is because I want a female doll, or if I feel I need one 'token' female. Maybe I want a 'real' girl to wear girls clothes, even though I already have a male crossdresser.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you? It does, although I have no idea why.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)? I wanted to do this from the start. LOL

    8. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yes I only buy male dolls. I do not really know why I like only boys... but I think the boy's clothes and the boy's bodies are more attractive.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Not for the moment. But if I buy a girl, she will be a tiny.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, definitely. For example when I see a beautiful girl, I just think it's sad she's not a boy ^^"

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yep, I think girl head on boy body makes great and cute doll ! And I want to buy an Iplehouse Asa head to put on a boy body XD

    9. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
No, I don't. Granted, so far I've only bought two dolls, both female, I desperately want a boy next. I wanted one after Vivica, but I fell in love with a RS Li in the Marketplace. ^^; I still want a boy next though!

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      Already been considered.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not particularly. It depends on if there's a character of a specific sex, then there would be an obvious appeal.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
My doll have a male head on a female body. XD I bought her from someone, and that's what she thought looked best; I agreed. The DZ Fei makes a lovely girl. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again with another doll head and body if I liked it though. I've seen girl heads on boy bodies that were adorable. And I think boy heads on girl bodies can look very pretty too.

    10. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I prefer female dolls, mainly because I can do so much more fashion design with them. Also, I just tend to like female characters in general. I've only ever drawn girls... and therefore I can't draw men for beans. :/

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Probably, if I wanted to do a couple or if I found a male sculpt that particularly appealed to me (I like my manly men. XD)

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Uh... I suppose? I don't really know what you're asking there. I like female sculpts because I find them more appealing, so yes, I suppose so.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Only if I really couldn't see them as their assigned gender. I've seen one female sculpt that seems more male to me, and I've seen plenty of male sculpts that look feminine, so yes.

    11. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I like having a mix of boys and girls. My first doll, a Luts El, is a boy, but I got him because I was in love with the sculpt from the second I saw it. It had nothing to do with gender.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      N/A.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
After my first boy, I absolutely wanted a girl. One of the biggest reasons was that I wanted to sew girly things for her. While many doll owners dress their boys in girly clothes, I didn't feel that image suited my boy. I don't have any issue with the style in general, but Jen just didn't seem to fit well in the girly clothes I tried on him here and there. I have 2 girls now, and I'm excited to sew some dresses and frilly things!

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I've considered getting a female body for my current male floating head, a Feeple Anu. Not so much because I thought the head suited the opposite gender, but because I wasn't quite sure which direction I wanted the character to go, and was considering changing his design. I think I've flopped back over to the "male" side for him, again. He'll get a body eventually!

    12. No way! I will have a couple in my home~ It was decided a long ago and nothing can change it.

    13. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have two boys in the household and one more coming on the way. I didn't intend on "only" getting male dolls in the beginning--it was just because the favourites of my characters are male. I also really like Korean and Japanese male fashion. And if I had a female doll she'd be based of my character who can be girly but is a bit of tomboy as well.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I've dollysitted my friend's female dolls before and it was a refreshing feeling in the household! I really like the Iplehouse SID female dolls... sometimes I want a female doll but I go, "But I'm not sure what to do with it--unless it's one of my characters it may be neglected a bit..."

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Hmm.. maybe? I like the dolls for their sculpts (I'm finding I like more realistic ones now). The human body is a beautiful thing--and if I see a sculpt conveying that really well, I'll find it appealing.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I don't have plans on doing that now but I've certainly seen some heads that I'd like to put on a body of the opposite sex. I find that a lot of heads are really diverse that they'd work on either body--it also helps the hobby be more interesting, and allows you to create the look you may want to portray.

    14. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Not on purpose. I do have far more boys than girls, though, but my wish list is full of girls...

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not sure. Most of the dolls I fall in love with are boys, so I guess maybe...

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Why not? I don't have definite plans, but I do have an extra head with one of my dolls, and if I decide to buy a body for it, i want a girl, because I don't want identical twin boys... It's a sculpt that I think would work either way.

    15. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
My first 2 dolls are male, but my 3rd is female. I was leaning more towards boy dolls, but somehow I ended up with an even number of male:female dolls. Pure luck I assure you. I'm not sure how dolls of either gender appeal to me...I just like what I like. :sweat

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I like having female dolls because I can dress them in frilly clothes that I would never wear myself.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Well, my School C can be either gender. I initially thought about having a male School C, but I ended up changing my mind and making her a female. I like School C, but I don't think I'd buy another head for a male doll exclusively though.

    16. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only have two doll so far and they're both boys. Most of the doll have on my wish list are boys except one MSD girl. It's not that I purpose want just male dolls, it's just I'm very-Very picky when it come to female doll, specially SD size girl. I don't want my SD girl to look too childish or have eye that I think are too large or have, as my friend would say, a "stripper body." lol

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Of course! But she can't be one of those doll that I love only for a few week. I have to research on her a bit and wait a while, to see if my feeling will change. I don't want to regret anything afterward.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Hm? I never really pay attention to the sex of the doll much. Most of the male doll can totally pull of a dress if you wanted them too. Male doll look pretty feminine, in my opinion. (unless you add beard/facial hair on them! =D) so, I can't say that their sex matter much to me. I just need to like their face and if i don't like the body, I think I can just switch it.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Actually, I have consider doing this a few time! ^^ Maybe I like the boy face better because they're eyes aren't as large... idk... but I have consider buying a boy's head and putting it on a female body!

    17. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only have one doll but she is female and the dolls that tend to capture my eye are female as well. Not entirely sure why, but girl dolls stand out to me in a way that male dolls don't. I suppose I feel that male dolls are more...limited? That's just me, but I feel like if I ever pick up a male doll he would be surounded by girls, since I get more ideas for females than males.

My WoW characters are also all almost female except for one male so I seem to just prefer girls overall. ^^

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Of course! He would have to stand out a lot to me, but I wouldn't turn down a boy based on the sculpting between his legs. :P

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      I would say so. Male dolls start at a disadvantage in my mind because their sculp tend to be uninteresting to me. It may not be the deal-breaker, but it definitely doesn't help their chances any. ^^;

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I don't see why not. If a male head would work on a female body then why not?

      Though the key thing would be "would it work", heh. ^^;

    18. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I prefer girl dolls and have always had girl dolls. I don't think I could see myself owning a boy doll though I can appreciate other peoples dolls. I just particularly wouldn't want to spend my money on one. I like girl dolls. I like dressing them up, and brushing their long hair. I like feminine features. :)

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
No, I could never see myself wanting or owning a boy doll.
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, having a girl doll to me is more fun. I like their more feminine qualities. I'm a very girly girl. I like girl dolls :)
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I don't think I would. I've seen people do that and it never really looks right to me personally.

    19. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have a preference for female dolls. I feel like there are more outfit and wig combinations. I also find them more aesthetically appeasing. There are tons of wigs and tons of cute clothes geared toward female dolls. When I see male dolls, I feel like they are very effeminate. That and I find a lot of what is available for male dolls is goth, schoolboy, or emo clothing. It simply is not my preference.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I would consider buying a male doll if it were an elegant male elf. Or designed after Spock, from Star Trek. Vulcan's and elves have pretty angular features so it wouldn't bother me as much. It would depend on the faceup and appearance as well. I would be even more picky with male dolls than I am with female dolls. So it would be REALLY difficult.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I find that females tend to have better face ups, so I guess that would count as more appealing.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
      I wouldn't unless I had a male body. XD

    20. [Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Well at the moment I only have one doll (which is a female) but I am considering either getting an SD girl or boy next
If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes, I only have one girl at the moment but I have always dreamed of having a SD sized Boy and girl
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
No not really. Whilst I'm looking for new dolls I see a head and think "that would look cute on a male body..." etc...
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes! I'm considering getting a Migidoll Jina head on a male body
