ONLY buying Male & ONLY buying Female Dolls

Jun 9, 2010

1. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Well, I used to only want a boys-only collection but now I really want a girl doll..

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not really I guess, as long as I am in love with their face sculpt. :)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes... actually I think my boy's head is actually better suited for a girl, and have considered replacing his head with a more masculine looking one.. ^^" I've seen female sculpts that I think would look better on a boy's body and vice versa... so it's totally doable to me.

2. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? until I buy only girls кукол. I believe that the beauty of the female body is more perfect, than the beauty of the male

If you do, would you ever consider buying the opposite gender of doll? I'm indifferent to the male dolls

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you? no

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
no, I think it is not correct.

3. (I only have one doll but if I were to get more)
Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I would mainly choose female because their clothes are just way cuter. I'm more about what you can do with the doll rather than focused on the gender. Males can have cute outfits too or even cool ones (which can be attractive) but I'm more towards the cute factor than anything.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

Mm.. to be honest this really depends on the company itself. > < Like the type of the doll?
Like say for Dream of Doll they have really nice male dolls that I'd be interested in having. I'm not too interested in the females though for their company's dolls. For Volks, Super Dollfies generally look like girls so it doesn't even matter if it's a guy or girl. For DDs, there's only girls so there's not much of a choice. If I were to like the guy's face I probably would, but I don't really have much of an urge as to buy him as much as if I were to see a girl's face sculpt that's just absolutely adorable~

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Sort of? I find Dream of Doll's male dolls appealing BECAUSE they are male. They look all handsome/cool~
I really think the factor depends though on mainly the company/type of doll.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Sure why not. If the head fits. Because like I said.. male Super Dollfies (imo) look really feminine and sometimes I'll be like "Oooh this girl is cute.. wait whut. It's a male?!" If I were to swap the heads then that means I can dress the male in cute clothes without his chest being flat. : DD
Of course it'd just look strange if the male head looked manry and it was on a big bust body. ._.;; Not so sure about that. Same goes for female I guess. I haven't seen manly females before though.

4. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I choose the kinds of dolls I fall in love with. I tend to fall in love with dolls of various genders, though I'm slightly biased towards male dolls since female dolls tend to look too young.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
No, as long as they look pretty in way that speaks to me.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Yes, of course. I've pondered over several heads like that now.

5. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I tend to buy boys more than girls. I find the males to be prettier, as it were. Females have to really stand out. I have more male characters pop into my head than females.

Does the sex of the doll make them more appealing to you?
Sometimes! It's the face that attracts me.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll?
I haven't. It depends on the faceup though.

6. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

I've got both, because I wanted both. I like different things about boy and girl dolls, and I think the collection of all of them looks great together.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

No. The features of the doll make it more appealing to me.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

I've done this a number of times (both turning boy heads into girls and girl heads into boys), because a lot of the sculpts I like are androgynous. I've even owned boy/girl twins of the same sculpt.

7. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

Yes I do. I only buy male dolls because I guess I prefer the gender more and find their faces more attracting. I also find it easier to create a male personality vs a female personality.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

Not really, I do find some girl dolls pretty but I just don't find them pretty enough that I would willingly spend the amount of money I spend on my boys.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Unfortunately yes. To me, boy dolls just look so much prettier and make it so much easier for me to fall in love with their sculpt and attach a character to them.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Maybe, if I found a good sculpt but I usually like to buy the full doll because that way I don't need to worry about finding a body for the doll and whether or not if the skin tone matches or not.

8. I only buyfemale dolls. I don't think that it's a conscious decision and there are some stunning male dolls out there, but I only ever had female dolls as a child,so that kind of fits in with the part of the hobby that seems to relate to re-creating my old doll collection.

9. I have five girls and trying to find a boy for my collection its harder to find the opposit gendernfor me

10. Mmm, let's see...

Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I like boys BJD more than girls BJD obviously :p because I think male dolls are more atractive than girls. At first, I just wanted male dolls because the females had a lot of accesories and I can't afford some of them, but now, I have 2 males and 4 females XD

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Well, I have six dolls now, and now, I don't want more.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
No. No at all.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
No. I think that a boy is a boy, and a girl is a girl. I don't like to change the genders.

11. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
~
Yes, As of the moment I only intend to collect girls because I don't know how to sew guy's clothes.. I was addicted in sewing clothes for my dolls (although I have some clothes that are bought).. I think I'll just be frustrated if I have a boy and can't sew clothes for him :doh

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
~
I don't know maybe in the future I might buy but as of the moment I don't want to

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
~
I don't think so.. I just love to play dress up with a girl doll.. but when it comes to appeal I think boys are nice too..

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

~ It depends on the sculpt.

12. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have four dolls home and they're all males.
I love male Characters and i like Yaoi, too. So I think it's impossible for me to buy any female dolls, for now. (Wait, my guys aren't all gay).
I could do it, but for now I haven't nice characters to dollify (whut?)
I like check some ebay pages that sell female shoes, heels, pink boots...I would buy a pair of these female accessories but I'm not intrested, for now, in buying some girls.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I would, once I'll finish my projects with my male characters and found a decent character.
I think that the general "doll" idea is like a cute girl to dress up and brush (like a barbie? Maybe) but it's not the same thing with a male (I mean, pink shoes are prettier than chained boots).
Mh, I'm a little confused on this point...

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I prefer male characters and, for now, I only had dolls on this gender, so...

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
oh LOL I'm doing it now.
I'm buying a Sist bully head to make a male character.
The sist mold is so usefuul <3 A boyish girl should be a perfect guy, right?

(ohmagooosh sorry for my horrible english.)

13. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? I would buy whichever doll I think is pretty, but i do steer more to female dolls.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll? I would buy any doll I really liked.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you? Personally I have a higher appreciation for the female body, which makes me more influenced to buy a female doll.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)? If it suited the body and gender, then yes.

I found this debate to be really interesting, I love hearing other people's opinion on doll genders, and which they prefer.

14. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

I've only bought one so far, a girl, but I do have the urge to only buy girls. I think I'd bond with them better, and they're more fun to dress up for me.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

I suppose, if I came across a sculpt I really liked, and was at a good price, I'd nab a guy.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Yes, for sure. I tend to only look at female dolls. It's less awkward to me to think about buying a female doll.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)

If there was a male head, that looked really sweet and girly, I would probably buy it.

15. I tried to just buy all girl dolls--but then I started seeing male sculpts that resembled some existing guy characters I've had, and...d'ohhh, downhill from there. But at the same time, because so many people seem to have male harems going on in their doll families, I feel the need to stray away from having too many guys? (I don't think girl dollies get enough love!)

16. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
--I only buy female dolls, or if a doll is androgynous then I'd portray them as a female character. I only buy female dolls siomply because the male dolls don't appeal to me. I do like the look of child-like male dolls, but would never buy one.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
As I said before, maybe a child like doll but some larger male dolls I've seen I honestly found too, uh, I don't really know how to describe it. Not ugly per say, just unappealing..

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, most definately.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
No because I know there actually are female heads out there that I could buy.

17. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
So far, I only have male dolls. Why...... Maybe I identify with boys more easily than girls.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes. There are a few female dolls I would like to own someday, just... not many, and they keep getting pushed back.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, I seem to be more attracted to male dolls.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes, I see nothing wrong with that. Being able to customize in such a way is one of the best parts of this hobby, after all.

18. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? I've only bought one boy, and plan to buy another soon. I prefer the boys because I like feminine looking guys. The girls look too girly, and I don't like them as much :0

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll? I have seen some girl dolls that I like, but there are too many men that I like more! ^^

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you? Yes! Androdgeny ftw!

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)? Yes, well maybe. Some of the girl dolls have really pretty faces, and I have some guy characters with really pretty faces... o 3o

19. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have mostly boys right now but that's kind of an accident of identity. Getting Larten brought on Darren which in turn brought on Evra. I got Arra because of Larten, too, but she's the only girl in the series I'm attached to enough to want a doll for. (I've thought of getting a Debbie for Darren, but I decided against it almost immediately because no way am I paying extra for "suntan" skin.)
So far Sasha and Ave are the only OC dolls I have but another girl char is threatening to turn into a doll as we speak so we'll see.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Nope. I mean, they have to be the right sex for the character, obviously (I don't understand genderswap cosplay in dolls or humans; to me changing the sex of a character changes the character him/herself... at which point I always end up asking myself why I'm not just doing an OC instead. But that's just me.) but other than that, no.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
If it became necessary to get the character right. Before I found DD's Mature Judy I was considering making Avedis an Angell-Studio Lucifer head on a girl body.

20. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? So far I've only bought girl dolls, and to be honest I don't really see myself buying a male doll in the near future. It really doesn't have much to do with what gender or if I have any bais but I don't have any interest in them and I'm not totaly sure if that has anything to do with my own sexuality.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll? Never say never. If I oneday find a male sculpt I love, I won't hesitate to buy him because of his gender!

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, I barely ever find myself even browsing the boy dolls.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
YES. I love leekeworld's Luke head and I plan to merge it onto a girl's body.
