ONLY buying Male & ONLY buying Female Dolls

Jun 9, 2010

    1. At the moment, I only buy male BJDs. And yes, gender does play a big role in it. I have nothing against girls, but I prefer men, and thus it manifests itself in my buying habits. Even when I want to buy a girl (actively looking for a female I like) I always find males I like more and they end up on my savings list instead. Maybe one day...
As for opposite gender heads...yes lol. I like girly boys

    2. I love male dolls. I enjoy looking at the male form, and love the versatility of the boy look. I am hard pressed to find a female doll I love enough to put it at the top of the list in front of the many male dolls I have plans to collect. I will say that there a some really beautiful female dolls, with looks that are to die for, but perhaps they just aren't for me? Admittedly I will be buying my roomie a female doll just for fun, as a christmas present. She hates dolls, but I'm hoping to change her mind as she started babbling about me buying a female doll so it could be cutely dressed...as if my boys aren't cutely dressed (which they are of course). I'll probably get one that I like just in case she hates it though haha.

    3. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only buy female dolls, I have no idea, but I dont feel likw dress up male dolls.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
um...not at the moment unless he's really tempting LOL

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      No, not really.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
      No.

    4. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I do not intentionally buy only female dolls, but, so far: I only have one male doll, a child, and we did not really bond at all.
It might have something to do with the size of the doll, there's a boy on my wish list who's an MSD.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Female dolls are less intimidating to me, in many ways, so yes.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes, I'd definitely consider it. :aheartbea

    5. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
So far I only have female dolls. I guess its because I love girly dresses and acessories. I don't find it as fun dressing up male dolls

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes - planning my next doll to be male

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      No, not really.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Perhaps, but I have yet to find a sculpt of a male that I can invision as a girl.

    6. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Sort of ^^' I had definate plans to buy a Delf Lishe or Soony and then I bought another boy adn some heads..and now I only have plans for boys >.< This is actually no surprise at all though. My dolls are based on roleplay characters and (as my friends will tell you) I have a bit of a boy obsession and have few girl characters in comparison. What can i say, I like the boys X3

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Definately. I am new to the hobby so I prioritize my dolls and keep my wish list short, therefore right now I have about 10 dolls I want (including the ones I have) and they are all boys. However, once I get myself together and am satisifed and finished with the dolls I have and I get the ones on my current wishlist 9all boys), I am definately seeing a Luts Delf Lishe, Soony or IH Carina in my future. Not any time soon but maybe in a few years ^^

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Honestly I think it's more I like what I like and the next doll I find always happens to be a boy. Well... there are a few dolls of other peoples' that are girls and I absolutely adore, but...actually I think I really do find the boys more appealing in general X3

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yep! I have a MD Jina boy and I'm asking for a Soom Dia boy for my birthday and a SD Jade boy is on my wish list.

    7. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I will not only buy one sex of doll. I will make decision based on their face instead of their gender.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I will not consider so much for the gender, I will pay attention to their face more :)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Haha I will do this if it looks like the opposite gender XD

    8. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
So far I'm guilty of having four dolls, all SD boys. It's because I'm freaked out by doll boobs, I have no idea why. I'm planning on getting two msd girls, but they're super flat.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes, I'm planning on getting a Doll Chateau Bella, and a Peakswood Vampire Hucky (but that doesn't really count since they have genderless bodies). I've recently decided to get a DIM Benetia since DDE is now offering her on the immature body.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I usually tend to look at boy dolls more, but when it comes to face sculpt, a head is a head.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes, I've send many fantastic MD Jina boys and I've been eyeing a Male Soom Dia for some time.

    9. Hmm... In all of my time as a doll owner I have only had one doll that was deliberatly male and he was still technically genderless (Tsubaki for the win!). I've had many transitory dolls, and most of them have been female, even the genderless ones. That's not to say I don't have my tomboyish ones. (Mahdis refuses to wear dresses... or clothes...) Add on the fact I love to make frilly dresses for some reason, it just makes more sense to me to have girls.

I'm not sure what it is, but I think it's that I'm still looking for a male doll to portray one of my characters. I found one of my favorites Michelle in a Volks Elena. I still haven't found Jason yet. Eventually I will, I hope, but until then I think that I'm just going to have quite a bit of girls.

    10. So far I only like Male BJDs. Even though there's quite a lot of interesting Female BJDs, my eyes are set on the Males. XD I have a lot of female OCs and less male OCs. Maybe that's why... OTZ

    11. Well, now I thought about this more and feel like shit. I don't like male dolls as much as female ones. And I don't want to be like this, goddamnit! But I don't find male bodies beautiful. I feel like a sex discriminator. And I'm overreacting so much... XD
Still, I have to find more male dolls I like. I don't want my doll-story to be all girl-girl-girl.

    12. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I don`t buy only one sex of dolls , because in my story I have both male and female. I do however love boy dolls alot more . I would only buy those if I didn`t have my story , but my OCs are very dear to me , so I buy female dolls to.
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
It seems easier for me to bond with a male doll. I like male dolls better , but I don`t know why. I am a lot more picky with girls , but I love the girls I have .
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes! Definatly. I WILL buy a ninodoll bada head and stick it on an fdoll female body , because the sculpt looks very much like Momoko Tsugunaga ( a singer I like).

    13. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only own female dolls. I think I would feel confortable with males in my doll family.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Maybe someday I'll change my mind, but I'm pretty sure I wont own male dolls.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, at the moment my dolls have to be women.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Yes, If I like the sculpt and looks like a girl I've got no problem at all.

    14. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I buy both...but only end up keeping the boys

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes, I have been looking for a girl that fits my doll family and my tastes

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      Sometimes...I do like my boys

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes - absolutely, give me a Yder girl and a Lishe boy xD

I have boys only...however I had a BBB Elena, a pukipuki Sugar and a DollnDoll Dark Ines. I gave Elena to my mother, I could not bond with sugar so I sold her and Ines was an impulsive buy and ended up that she did not fit with the family so I ended up selling her as well. I am in the process of getting a DOT girl so hopefully miss Asphodel works out

    15. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yes, female only! I find them much prettier, plus I have no interest in males >_>

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      Nope! Never! hahaha

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, female ones look so much better in my opinion (though it could be because I'm a heterosexual male?)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I don't think so. If I WERE ever to get a male head, I'd give him a male body. I guess I'm conservative like that LOL

    16. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

Yes, I prefer the female form and find them more interesting to dress.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

      Sure

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

      Yup.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

I think most male dolls tend to look very feminine (in many cases the heads are interchangeable with the right face-up) so it's more about the feminine look you prefer and the character you have in your head rather than the fact it has little plastic male or female genitalia.

    17. I would have to say a little of both, really. Most of the dolls on my wishlist are female, as I like the looks of the girls better, but I do like some males and plan on getting a few.

I also do plan on switching heads and bodies. I plan on ordering a Ringdoll Spencer head with a female body instead of a male one, since he has such a feminine face, and I think he'd make a cute girl.

    18. Fun thread! One I might have something original to contribute, for once.

Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yes, after a fashion; Although I've given a male and female doll a try, the only dolls that have stuck with me have been unsexed, with "angel" or ambiguous type bodies that lack detail between the legs.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I have nothing against male and female dolls, but personally I feel more comfortable with the sexless dolls. Perhaps I'm just a prude, but it's a level of detail I've never felt the need to have. Despite a lack of such details, however, I do consider my dolls to have a specific gender / sex.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I do find the sexless dolls more appealing in a way. They ... frighten me less.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Sure! There's a number of head sculpts I really love, which I would consider putting on either sex's body. Honestly many ABJD's have an androgynous appearance to their features, which can work well as either a female or a male.

    19. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

So far, I only have boys. One reason is because I'm portraying characters of mine, and the majority of them are boys - I do have some female characters but they tend to have somewhat minor roles compared to the males, and my inclination is to have doll forms of the major characters first. Initially all of them were my roleplaying characters, and though I'm female I've always felt more comfortable RPing males for some reason. Now I'm working on fiction, so for the sake of mirroring reality I find myself introducing more female characters - they make up half the population, after all. So I'm sure at some point in the future I'll have a female doll.

Another reason I like buying boy dolls is because in more mainstream toy lines, girl dolls predominate. With BJDs, there are so many handsome boys to choose from. I'm more attracted to the male form, so I suppose it's only rational that I'd want to surround myself with attractive (though often androgynous) males rather than females. If most male BJDs were "muscle men" I wouldn't be so interested, as that's not what I find attractive. Those Iplehouse EID hunks are definitely impressive - they're just not for me.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

I do consider it and probably will at some point in the future...it'd be fun dressing a girl, at least. Though I've already bought female clothes for one of my boys who occasionally cross-dresses... :sweat That brings up another point, actually. I do have a character who very much feels he is a woman in a boy's body. I'll still choose a male body sculpt for that character since he's biologically male and hasn't undergone gender reassignment surgery (it wasn't really an option in the time period he's from, anyway.) But he will present himself as - and therefore almost always be dressed as - a female.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Yes. I think this was pretty much covered in my answers to the previous two questions. :)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Absolutely! I like pretty boys after all, and really, with the right faceup the majority of sculpts can go either way. I already have an off topic DiM Eileen (vinyl bjd) who's sold as a female with a genderless body, and I modified the faceup and used "her" for a 13-year-old boy character. I've also seen a couple of the sculpts I own (DiM Arno, AoD Xun) very successfully used for girls.

    20. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
In the beginning when first got into the hobby i was originally going to have 1 girl and then a flock of boys. Mostly because all my friend's dolls were boys and there characters were all gay(yaoi XD) and i didn't want to be left out. Then i met a friend with female characters and dolls and the genders started to even out XD

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not at all. I love me some pretty girls and guys of all sorts :>

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes. I'm planning on doing it already. The sexes of dolls aren't really determined by anyone but your own personal opinion. Some might see a girl head and some might see a guy head. All on your opinions and tastes ^^
