ONLY buying Male & ONLY buying Female Dolls

Jun 9, 2010

    1. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I prefer to buy males over females, but right now I have one female. So yes, I do really only buy one sex of doll. I do this because I prefer the males over females--body and face usually, I'm not sure why.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes. I own one female right now, as I said. If [rarely] find a sculpt that comes as a female that I absolutely adore, I will get the female.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes. Not sure why but it does.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
If it counts to say I have SOOM MD tinies that are supposed to be one gender but have a neutral gender body, I will swap the gender, even if they look just like girls. As for heads..I try to just order them full dolls. If I'm allowed to swap bodies[gender wise] then yes, I will swap them out. For some reason boys just appeal more to me.

    2. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I'm a straight boy, and Yes, I only collect/buy female dolls, I just don't see the point why I should play with my own sexuality(Male), or in short I don't find Male dolls attractive. (Just like I'm not being attracted to same sex in real life.)

In fact I'm going to have a free sleeping Jax from Doll Leaves and I consider it being a female bunny.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      NO.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      YES.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
No. I think that almost all Male BJD heads are Masculine enough, so No.

    3. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Nope! I tend to prefer male dolls but I wanted a female companion for my boy. I don't think I would have bought a girl doll without buying a male doll first.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      I have done. :)

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, I much prefer male dolls.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I've bought a Mo 2 head (boy) and a girl body seperatley to combine the two into one female doll. I did this because I love the Mo sculpt but I wanted a girl.

    4. I have only ever really been interested in the male dolls. Female dolls are creepy and I don't like how the nipples poke out of everything.
I've only ever seen ONE female doll that I would ever consider buying but only because I loved her face. I had no interest in the body. In fact I was going to buy her head but she sold out the day I went to buy her.
The male dolls are more appealing to me for sure.
I've thought of buying a few female heads so I could have feminine males.

    5. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only have one doll right now, but my first choice of doll is male.
If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I'm basing my second doll off a character in my short story, so its going to be female...and blue skinned...
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not really...and now that I think about it, I should probably have gone with the female doll instead, the male parts are making some pants look uncomfortable.
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I'm too new into this hobby to try something like that yet.

    6. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why/ why not?
So far, I only have a girl, a girl on the way, and my wishlist consists of girls. Its not that I don't like the look of the boys, I find many of them gorgeous, but I just feel I have more options when it comes to girls in terms of appearance etc. Dunno why :/

Would you consider buying a doll of the opposite gender?
      Certainly

Does the doll's gender make it more appealing?
Not so much, if I saw a good looknig girl but a better looknig boy, I would go for the boy because I prefer how he looks, rather than getting the less attractive girl because she is female.

Would you ever buy the head of the opposite sex to use on the doll?
I too am quite new, so am not yet ready to do that, but I have seen a number of heads and thought, 'hmmm, s/he would make a gorgeous boy/girl'

    7. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
My first and second dolls were both male. And i thought i would only want to own males. Ive owned a few more after those.

But now currently at this very moment, ive only plans to buy girl dolls.

Ive probably grown out of my obsession with pretty boys.
And i just want a girls i can dress like how i dress or how i want too.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
No problems owning either gender for me~

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not really. It only matters for the face sculpt for me.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
      Sure
I really love unisex looking headmolds.

    8. All the dolls on my wish list are female. 5 females are a lot and they look prettier to me. I will not mind a guy doll, but I have yet to find a guy doll in my girls range, in their style and one I like. Besides to balance things out, I need to buy a few guys. The money used to buy them can be used to. Uh so much stuff for my female dolls.
Unless a guy doll is attractive enough, I won't buy a guy doll. But I won't buy a guy's head to put on a female body. Not worth the trouble in my opinion.

    9. I have bought two girls and intend for my future dolls to be girls. I prefer girls because in my opinion the guys often look very effeminate. It may also be a hassle to clothe a guy since I don't enjoy shopping for men's clothing as much. In addition, there is no particular male character of mine I would like to create.

Yes, I have purchased a male head (Volks F-16) to use on a girl. I tend to prefer Volks's male heads because they can make older, more mature-looking females (at least some of them can). I tend to prefer slightly sharper features to round faces and circular eyes. I was going for a kindly, empathetic look with my F-16 and thought her eyes captured that perfectly with the right face-up. I can't wait to receive her in a few months ^.^

    10. As much as I would love to just buy girls, I need a boy or two for balance. In my opinion, if I didn't need a balance thing for characters or stories, I'd probably just buy girls. Girls are really fun to design and sew for. Sex doesn't exactly matter, but sometimes I think a lot of boy dolls look like girls (I am only talking about mini's in this instance), especially face shape. So if I was going to buy a girly boy doll, might as well just buy a girl. I don't do characters, really, so it's not like "Oh, I have only girl characters, so only girl dolls." I also find it easier to find pretty girls than good looking, not girly guys in mini size.

    11. I buy more boys than girls, but I need at least ONE girl in my group because I love girl fashion (shoooesss) a bit more than for boys :) but I like boy dolls more! I just can't find a lot of girls that are good enough for me *shrug* (I am much more capricious for girl bodies)

    12. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
As of right now I have five male dolls. I'm really only interested in male dolls and the relationships between them. It's kind of rough because there aren't many outfits for them that appeal to me so they have a very limited wardrobe. I'm just not as attracted to or interested in the female dolls even though I'm a lesbian. Strange I guess. I just don't find many that have features I like. I don't like 'cute' things and I'm picky about faces. I think there are a lot of males with attractive faces and bodies but not nearly as many females. I could pick out three male dolls I want on any given site, but I might go to a dozen sites before finding a single female doll I would ever consider. Honestly I think I've only seen about 3 female dolls I've ever actually wanted.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yeah, there are a couple I sort of want but I would always buy a male doll first.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Absolutely, though I can't entirely explain why..

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes! I actually have plans to buy a particular male head and put it on a female body and have her be a transsexual female. Again, I can't explain it, but a transfemale doll is more appealing to me than a naturally female doll.

    13. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
So far, I only have a female doll, but I do plan to get a couple male dolls. Honestly, though I like the look of female dolls more than the male ones. I find it a lot easier to think of cool/pretty outfits for girls than boys.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      Not really.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes, especially if I have a set of twins that are two different genders. It makes things easier to get the same facial features with the only difference being the colour of the face-up. Course, it has to fit the personality of the character I have in mind too :)

    14. Personal opinion :)

Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I do only have one doll right now (who is a Boy with another arriving). When I first set out to buy myself a BJD I had my mind set on a boy, though now that I have one I'm turning to the girls. There are different things you can do with both genders and for one my boy doesnt have a chest to wear those really nice dresses I spot all over the place!

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Since I am a girl I do look at boys more often than girls, (not being sexist, just my own preferance) but both genders are rather appealing in their own way. But in both I look more for that wide eyed, cutesy sort of look :)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

To be honest my boy's face is quite girly, and most people do seem to mistake him for a girl since he has wide eyes and very thick lashes. But if I thought it fit of course swapping heads on an opposite gendered body would be fine! Sometimes it makes your doll even more unique I would think!

    15. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Currently I have four dolls, all of which are female. I find that finding the perfect female is much easier than finding the perfect male because, well... so many male dolls look like females to me, and the male characters I wish to recreate are more masculine in appearance. It's rather frustrating.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I have been trying to find the perfect man and I found Soom's Arkose to be manly enough for me. I adore Iplehouse's men as well, and Dollzone's Memphis looks masculine and he is UNF. So it looks to me like it's getting a little easier to find the right guys, finally. ^o^

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
The sex of the doll only matters because of the sex of the character they're portraying. So really, in a nutshell, gender makes no difference to me.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Oh in a heartbeat! If it looked right for the character, you'd bet I would. n_n

    16. I don't have a doll yet, but I'm going on what I normally look at and want. Hope that's alright.

Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
-When it comes to clothes, I'm more interested in frilles, lace, bright or pastel colors, and big beautiful dresses. (Lolita Fashion) With this being said, I normally take interest in girl BJDs when I'm surfing the doll websites. I don't think that would keep me from buying a male doll, but I don't see me having more males over females ever. (Not a big cross dressing fan either.... of dolls at least.)

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      -Like I stated above, yes. The ratio to females might be way off though. ^^;

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
-I find the female body a lot more beautiful to be hoenst, and I just feel I can do much more with the girls than I can with the boys. Example - colorful make up~!

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
-Yes! Yes, I would. I'm actually thinking about doing that on one of my choices for first doll. ^___^

    17. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? I only have a boy doll and I intend to keep my doll family to only males. As for why I do, it's because I love the idea of having such a gorgeous male for me to dress up and cuddle with as much as I please. I know that if I were to have a girl doll, I'd rarely touch her. I don't know why, but I just would. She'd probably stay in a box or on a shelf- so I figured...to use the money that could be used for her, to help buy more stuff for my boy.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      Not particularly.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, I love that I found a boy who is so beautiful. ><

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
      No

    18. I don't find the sex being as important as the general 'look' of the doll. I like the men a little feminine and the women smoking. That is all.
      =3

    19. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I seem to like the girl dolls better. I have more fun with the dresses, long eyelashes and wigs. I do have some boys to be my girl doll's 'boyfriends'. I do like my boy dolls, I just have more fun with the girls :) 3 boy dolls and 7 girl dolls now >.>

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes. I just tend to like the girl dolls a little bit better :)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Nah, I like my girl dolls to look really girly so a boy sculpt wouldn't work.

    20. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? At the moment, I only have female dolls. I have two more girls and a boy on the way. This is simply because I saw more female dolls than male ones that I liked at first when I had the money to purchase them.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll? Yes- I have already ordered 1 male to be the mate for one of my females, and I have the same plans to purchase more boys for the rest of my girls.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you? Not really- it's all about the look of the sculpt for me. If I see a sculpt that I love, it doesn't matter whether it's male or female.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)? If I saw one that I really liked and could still look feminine/masculine enough to fit the role of one of my characters, then yes. If I liked their sculpts enough to purchase one, I would for sure put a BlueBlood Doll's head on a female body, because their sculpts do look VERY feminine.
