ONLY buying Male & ONLY buying Female Dolls

Jun 9, 2010

    1. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
No, as characters of my story's they are both gender, and even many races ^_^

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Well, yes and no. I know they are just cute dolls but not cute real girls. But in fantasy novel, all can be :)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Dont know, currently waiting for first doll :)

    2. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have only males/ genderless one who are males. Why? I only like males and do not want to live with a female doll.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I have thought of it because of the sweet clothes, but I think that will not happen.
IF ever I could not resist, I will give her my mother as a gift.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      Yes.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I have. And he is a very sweet boy! ^_^

    3. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

I got a male then a female then another male and finally another female doll, so nope; I don't buy dolls of one gender. I do admit that I prefer female dolls because I am gay IRL, though. I'm saving for an IH Jessica and plan a female IH Chase after her. I'm a sucker for curvy chicks with butch dykes. xD

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

I like the doll for aesthetics, not just what's in the pants. I don't think I'll be getting another male doll, but who knows! I don't do the character thing (I don't understand it?) so I buy what I want to see sitting on my shelf. Even if that's a hermaphrodite.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Yeah actually it does, even though I'm not too bias on gender. Female dolls are just prettier to me, so if I find a sculpt I like and it's female; awesome.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Oh yeah. I plan to take an IH Chase head, put it on a slightly more feminine body and turn it into a butch so my IH Jessican can have a gender-queer girlfriend. Now that's something new!

    4. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

I only ever have female dolls. I find male dolls quite boring, hard to dress, hard to characterize. Plus the main reason being..... I don't like males. Of any kind! XP

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      Naw.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      Yes, for the reasons above!

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I think because males squick me out in general (don't bash me now, its just my personal opinion! takes all kinds and all that) then it would bother me, big time. The only thing I may do is consider the 'male' colouring on an anthro, because I like it more than the female version. Then make it female. 8P

    5. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yes! I own just boys 'cause all the characters I love to the point to cast them into resin are male. Generally speaking I've this kind of preference with characters, be they mine or not.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I don't think so. There are just a couple of female dolls I really like, but for the time being I don't want to spend moneys on them.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
At first glance yes, I'm more likely attracted by boys.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I bought a Dia and I find him so manly in his male body! XD

    6. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I always go looking for a female doll, but end up buying a male. I'd love to have a female to dress up, but the male sculpts always win out. (last doll I ordered I originally thought was female at first sight and even has a "female" version.) =p
It's probably also because- at least here in the U.S. for as long as I can remember there has only been *one* (ugly IMO) male doll available (lol who shall not be named-his name starts w/ a "K"..) for the most part. Thank god for BJDs!

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Of course! Once I find a doll with a body that I like (good posability, etc.) and a face sculpt with a "personality" that I like. (I already have a few in mind) =)

    7. Super late on this reply but this thread interests me.

Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have bought two male dolls, and have three in my wishlist. I only have one female in my wishlist. I'm not exactly sure why I prefer males but I just do. The female I imagine is there as an outlet for my love of feminine clothing and my talent in making them. :P

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Definitely. And I'm sure that if I stumble across a really beautiful mold that really just calls out to me, I won't hesitate because it's female, even if I already have one.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes. Male doll faces usually catch my eyes quicker than female doll faces.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

      I have definitely considered it.

    8. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I haven't purchased my first doll yet, but the one I'm saving for is female. However, the second doll I'm hoping to get someday is male. Plus, the third character I'm planning is also male, but never would I say that I would only purchase one gender.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
When entering the hobby, I never actually planned to purchase any male dolls. Honestly, when I very first introduced to BJDs, I never thought that male dolls were that popular. Plus, I browsed through some male dolls on the internet and I was just never attracted to any of their sculpts. I was rather put off at the time that many of them looked more like girls than boys, though now that I've looked into them much more, my opinion has changed.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
No, I wouldn't say that at all. When I'm looking through dolls, I'm looking for sculpts that I like rather than gender.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes, but only if I was extremely in love with the sculpt.

    9. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes, I have dolls of both genders >.>

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I'll admit to liking males more, but I enjoy my girls, too.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes, I have a pair of sexless dolls I like to switch heads on X3 (bobobie sprites)

    10. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
i only buy females. i just find them more aesthetically pleasing. lol
If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
mmm...probably not. and if i did, i would probably end up hating and regretting him unfortunately
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      yes sirry

    11. Edit: Answered again later in the thread. Oops. ^.^;

    12. I only have one doll so far and she is a girl. I think I lean towards girls because for me, dressing them personally is fun and I know little about sewing boys clothes, also I can only affored 27cm dolls and as far as young teen dolls go, the girls are more attractive to me.

I would like a boy someday- but only when I can afford a larger doll.

no- it depends on each individual dolls appearance not the sex

no- theres nothing wrong with it but I just dont like the idea of mixing and matching

    13. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
yes, male dolls. because i love male sculpt body.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
never say never. maybe, in future. when i'll be satisfied of my male collection. but there's no girls i like so far, till now.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      sometime.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
yes, i already did. i've 3 and they're delicious androgyne boys.

    14. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have both genders, because both are beautifuls in different way^^

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

well both are but girls are easier to make up that boys, because boys don´t have so much make up XD

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
of course,I´ll buy that what it looks nice!

    15. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I used to be interested only in male dolls. Untill I found the Dal I own now, as she´s truly adorable. Since then, I started liking
female dolls just aswell. What I missed in male dolls is that you can´t really dress them in girl´s outfits without being kind of
weird. With female dolls I can buy all the pretty dresses and girly outfits I like.
If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
When I only liked the male dolls, I did consider buying them. I just hadn´t found the one female doll that I liked yet. Ever since I
did find that doll, I started to like female dolls just as much as male dolls.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I still have a slight preference to male dolls. So I guess it does make them a bit more appealing.
But ever since I´ve been drawing (which is basically from the moment I could hold a pencil) and designing characters, most of
my characters have been male. People think I'm a bit boyish in some of the things I do as well, so that might explaind that
      preference aswell.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I recently came across a doll I really liked. It was supposed to be a boy doll, but I liked it more as a girl. Luckily there's an option
on that site to buy either a male or female body. So when I buy that doll, I'll go for the female body, even though it was
originally intended to be a male doll.

    16. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Only girls. For some reason girls always looked more aesthetics to me...( and weirdly, I'm still straight...)

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
No, I fear I'd feel like I wasted money...which is too bad for Tyra would sooo need her lover, but i don't feel like buying him for now.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Well, yeah, since I prefer ladies for dolls...

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
No, I would feel weird for the head would already somewhat have a "male aura" to me XD

    17. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only buy female dolls as I have no interest in looking at, dressing or owning male dolls.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I would never consider buying a male doll.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Absolutely I think female dolls are beautiful to behold but not male dolls.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
No, although some male heads do look female but I would know it wasn't.

    18. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Female only. Because the way I play with my dolls is designing outfits and redressing them. They are so versatile. Endless possibilities and looks.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I don't think I would ever buy a male doll.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I'm definitely a female doll person because I love the outfits. Male outfits just don't appeal. I also just simply find more faces I love amongst the female dolls. So beautiful.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll.
um... no. Although I find many of the male dolls I've seen could pass for girls with the right wig and face-up.

    19. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?

Yes, I have 30 male dolls.
Technically 29 males and 1 Rei-Tenshi angel-whatsit-thing that has no gender or genitalia because it's a fetus. (I don't know, ask Volks about it.)

I like to look at males.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?

No. I have no use for female dolls.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?

Yes, because I collect male dolls.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

No, I wouldn't do it myself, because there are enough wonderful male sculpts out there to fill my collection already (and there are always more I cannot have them all).

But this has already been done for me-- I have the merman edition Soom Vega, originally a female sculpt whom they turned into a male. Presumably because she wasn't vapid-looking enough to be a big seller as a woman. It may be the 21st century, but people still love their chicks to be vapid. So few female sculpts out there are even remotely interesting.

Also-- you know how everybody keeps saying that Soom's Sard and Dia are exactly the same sculpt? They're just not... there's some subtle difference that I can barely pick out in photos myself when I'm looking (mouth and nose are both, like, 3 microns heavier on Sard)... But when I'm in the presence of a hybrid, somehow I can tell. I've met Dia boys many times, and I can always sense immediately that it's not a Sard, I don't know how. Once I met a Sard girl [stunning, btw] and right away I knew it wasn't a Dia. I guess you can get very fine-tuned to these things when you stare at enough of them!

(Which is weird in itself, because normally I'm one of those people who still can't tell an F16 from a Lucas in a crowded room.)

    20. Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes and no. I think it really depends on a few factors. If they have a very soft, I could never be a decent boy face, I probably wouldn't be interested, but some of the female faces that are a little more... tomboyish I suppose you'd say? Those I prefer.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
The one face I did, was mainly used for females, but was never specified as a female face, so I kind of did..?
