ONLY buying Male & ONLY buying Female Dolls

Jun 9, 2010

    1. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Yes, I do. My dolls now are all male. Just cause I love Yaoi[boy x boy love] and I cant really stand my dolls being straight 8D

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Hmm.. maybe, but they'll only be Tinies/chibis that will only exists me for me to dress them in cute things ;3

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Hmm... I have to say no, it's the faces that I decide on. They'll be boys in the end anyways~

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yup, I do this all the time XD

    2. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?I don't actually own any dolls yet, but the ones I want are all female. Maybe it's because dolls appeal to the feminine part of me. I want little girls I can dress up in pretty clothes.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Maybe, since one of the characters I have thought up for this "doll world" has a little brother. Let's see when Iplehouse release their KIDs. :)

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I guess so. My story characters are mostly female, because I can relate better to girls, being one and all.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes, definitely! I always thought Leekeworld's Wien and Oatmeal could make very interesting looking girls.

    3. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?I
Girls only. I live with seven males. I need something sweet and frilly and pink and pretty to balance all that testosterone!! I have a male floating head but he lives in a closet.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Hmmm after I have all the girls I want? :D

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
There are smashing guy sculpts as well. Just, funding is tight and just want girly girls right now is all...

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

Totally would :) i actually prefer the longer mouths on many male sculpts over the tiny dot mouths on some girl sculpts. I like strong features on girls.

    4. I prefer male dolls. I have a couple of girls but in all types of dolls that I have I always prefer the boys. I don't know why. Maybe because I'm not into pretty girly stuff clothes wise so that doesn't make the female dolls appealing to me.

    5. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
No, but I am partial to male dolls, mostly because all my life my porcelains have been female, and I really love the idea of havin' some boys.
If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      n/a
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes! I only ever really read books with male leads, I usually only RP with male characters... even though I myself am female and quite feminine. I love boys, and am 90% more likely to fall in love with a male doll over a female one.
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
      hmmm.... I really dont know.

    6. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only have one but so far it looks like I will most likely only have one gender of dolls. Simply, most girl dolls do not appeal to me, and the ones that do either do not fit in with characters I have planned or my price range ^^;; one female doll I like is practically impossible to find...
If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I would if I found the right one. I've been looking very hard but I can't find the right one yet :P
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Eh, not really. I'm attracted to faces. I like boys I guess because I'm a tomboy and I like guys clothes so I guess that works, but I like dresses too ^^ (though I would never put a boy in a dress >.>)
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
YES there are lots of pretty girls who would make equally pretty boys ^^ I LOVE ANDROGYNY XDDD and there are boys who would make way better girls too I believe... :P (SDF annette looks like a boy to me, and Dolkot Benny looks like a girl to me too xD)

    7. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I happened to end up with girls only (all my dolls are child characters) without deciding to buy only girls. I like little girls and little boys both as well, but seems that having both of them the boys become a bit neglected and I noticed favoring the girls. So I did sell the boys out and now I only have girls. It wasn´t the purpose, and my boys were just so cute as it can be, but there´s no use for doll which stays mostly in the box.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
For sure I´d buy a boy doll again if there comes another so cute that I can´t resist. If thinking about big dolls with obvious sex, instead of child dolls, I´d go for a girl rather than boy. I have seen amazing male dolls, but I´d have no use for one myself.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Not really. I just go by which looks cute to me. :)

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?

If a boy doll´s head would look good as girl or vice versa, why not?

I think for me the sex isn´t the important as much as other things about the doll. My present dolls are all so young there´s no sexuality in the picture, so I don´t think at all the male/female/homosexual/straight -question, and I don´t even want to. If I´d get a big doll (which I´m not up to, at least at the moment) I´d get a lady to dress her up with beautiful outfits, maybe historical ones, and she´d rather be piece of art rather than a character with sexual being.

    8. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have only bought one and she is female, I just haven't had any interest in male dolls at all.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
It would depend, maybe eventually I would want to get her a BF, but as of now not really.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Only in the fact that the girls all look so cute to me ^_^

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
No, a girls head is a girl's head, a boy's head is a boy's head. Girl's heads are so much cuter to me anyways.

    9. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only have an interest in male dolls. Own one Barbie, my first from 1962. Own one baby doll, my first from 1959. I never had any further interest in dolls until the male dolls started appearing. Got Ken, but was disappointed in him, until the 1980s when he started looking like a real person. BJDs have the maleness I wanted, and I'm not talking about the physical bit between their legs. They have a look that I like to look at. Beautiful women never appealed to me, so the dolls don't either.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I am going to purchase a Nobility Doll muscular female. It is an open order that Humbug here at DoA has put together.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Oh, yes! Male dolls are so appealing to me, whether short haired or long haired. I do not like those that look too much like female dolls in their facial features though. Probably why I took a while to get into BJDs... they now have enough of a male-looking selection to satisfy me.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
As I said, I'm buying a ND girl who is supposed to be very muscular. A male head may be the only way to get the look that would make this work. That said, in general, NO I would never put a girly head on a male body. In fact, I saw where someone had modded a boy by sanding off his genitals to become a girl, and it made me cringe.

    10. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Girls only ^_^ For me female-dolls looks more attracive. I love their faces and their gentle figures.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I don't think I would ever buy a male-doll. When I was just going to get first BJD, I was exploring all dolly shops to find the perfect one (doesn't metter, boy or girl). All dolls, which was attractive for me, were female-dolls >.< Boys are just not cute enought for me

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
      No...

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yes,but I haven't find any nice heads yet

    11. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I've only bought one (female), but I'm looking around for my second (male). I thought I was originally only going to buy females - I really find them more appealing for some reason. I guess I find them more "doll-like". But now that I've changed my BJD "goals" from "randomly buying" to "buying specific characters", it means I'm going to need some males in there!

And I would certainly use an opposite-sexed head and body. Actually, I'm thinking that I need a female with strong features, and since most dolls are SO "soft" I might have to do this....

    12. Geez, I am amazed at how close the score is betwen the dolls, I thought for sure it was going to be mostly girls! I only have girls as I find the boys clothes so boring. It's the same with my real kids, boys are all brown, green, and black. Girls clothes are so much more fun to make. But I only like little girl bodies, no boo boos for me, freaks me out. I never even liked Barbie only Skipper. I have a new Lati Green Coco that I think is secretly a boy. I put a little bob wig on her and it was Hucklberry Finn, no kidding! She is back in the box, the little sneek. I think I might like a little boy Pukifee though, they look so gileless. But the weird thing is is that I am much closer to my real boys then my real girls, must be some Fruden thing?

    13. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I have two girls right now and out of my wishlist there are only two boys that I want. I have always liked girl characters more since I was child.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Yes, like I said there are two males I already want. If more molds came that I fell in love with then I have no problem wanting them.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Well I guess it does since I always look at girl dolls first on sites.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
No I never considered it but thats just because I have not considered hybrids, period.

    14. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I only have one so far, but my wishlist is almost entirely boys. Beautiful men/boys are totally the thing that I love best, so I think that I will always have more boys than girls. I enjoy making girl's clothes though...but so far none of the boys I want to get would let me dress them in girl's clothes.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I am actually looking for a girl sculpt I like to embody the personality of a character that's been in my head for a long time. Actually she would inherit the name I use here, Dalucia Rahl.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I don't think so. I just haven't had a girl catch my attention yet.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Absolutely. I think I will possibly have to do that for my Dalucia doll. I think maybe male features would look better for her personality. I'm not sure I would put a girl head on a boy body, but it's possible something would entice me to.

    15. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
At the moment I don't have any dolls, but on my wishlist the girls are faaaar down my list. Like, YEARS down my list. A LOT of years. I like boys much much more. I'm way picky about girls dolls, because I down really... like the molds or the bodies. I only like probably two or three female bodies out of all of the ones I've seen. (I take whole days to shop for bodies, cuz I'm wierd)
If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      N/A
Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, boys are much more appealing, I connect to boys much better, and I wanna like LOOKING at the dolls. So boys it is.
Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)? Yes, there are boy heads I want to be girls, and a couple girl heads that I want to be boys, but I haven't actually planned to buy any so far.

    16. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
Right now I only have a girl, I think my next doll will also be female. I'm not sure if I'll ever buy a male doll...

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Maybe. I can appreciate the male dolls, some are downright sexy.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
I'd say no. I judge each doll by itself by face etc

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I'm not sure about this one.

    17. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I buy both genders. The reason is very simple, my preference aesthetically goes everywhere. I like feminine traits, and masculine traits. I don't think I could keep myself from buying only one of the genders, because I like both too much.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
      N/A

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Nope. It's all about the face.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
I've considered doing this before, so I don't see why I wouldn't one day. I've actually planned for it a lot.

    18. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you? I thought I would only have male dolls but I have found that in the bjd hobby - never say never. After a little over two years I finally got a Puki Piki I deemed a girl (since they have no actual resin gender) since she was sold as a girl fullset. I really only have one 'real' girl - a LittleFee Ante. My other 'girl' dolls are two Bambicrony elves, which are also genderless. They could easily turn into male if I wanted to flip-flop them, but I'm a stickler about boys having bits so they automatically became girls. The only boys without bits in my group are animal-based so their bits are inside their bodies. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll? Well, I officially have only one female doll, so, yes. I couldn't resist the Ante face.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you? Most definitely - male dolls are more aesthetically pleasing to me than female dolls. Only a few female dolls have appealed to me and they've been mostly Iplehouse and a few Fairyland.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)? Probably, but I haven't done it yet.

    19. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
It's not really on purpose, but I seem to lean really heavily towards male dolls. I want at least one girl doll, so I have someone to make pretty dresses for out of all the gorgeous quilting fabrics I see (so many of those prints are so girly, and even my extremely gay tailor can't quite see himself in them). But when I look at dolls, the ones that grab me, so to speak, all turn out to be boys.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
Like I said above, I really want *a* girl doll, just for making pretty dresses. I kinda just picked up a girl floating head on ebay (bad cowpewter! but she was so cheap and I can use her as a practice head for learning faceups!), so I dunno. I guess I just did. No clue when/if she'll ever get a body. I got a boy first in line for any doll body money.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Apparently. Not on purpose, but all the sculpts I fall in love with are boys.

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Yeah. If it was perfect for a certain character.

    20. Do you only buy one sex of doll? Why do/don't you?
I tend to only buy females. I'm not against buying males, but it's just what I prefer since most characters I create for roleplay/my dolls/etc are female. Admittedly, though I've created and role-played males before, I'm just not quite comfortable with it, nor can I really get into the character, so I guess this carries over to my preference in female dolls.

If you do, would you consider ever buying the opposite gender of doll?
I'd definitely consider it, but I'd probably have to have a definite 'idea' for him.

Does the sex of a doll make them more appealing to you?
Yes, since I prefer females. Males don't really get a glance from me, unless they're anthros. XD

Would you ever buy a head of the opposite sex to use on the doll (maybe because it looks like the opposite gender)?
Maybe. I've actually seen some male faces I really like, but wouldn't buy the doll because they're on a male body.
