1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Oops, did I just buy that?

    1. I don't make impulse buys... the dolls are just too expensive! But... lately, I've been seeing some dolls on ebay being sold at a really low price and my urge to buy a DEAL or SALE, which doesn't often happen with bjds, totally kicks in! I just put a low bid on a doll I'd never before wanted 'cause it was just too good to pass up! Ack! I'm hoping someone will up-bid me... I won't mind. Although... if I do get it at the bid I place... it really was too good to pass up... even if it's still a big chunk of money... !!! *_*

    2. My last two dolls were sort of impulse buys. :sweat I went on the FL website in December and saw the f65 Chloe and fell in love, but I had no character in mind for her, so I waited until my taxes were done and paid for 2 dolls then I'd been wanting as my first. Just a few weeks after they arrived, I went back to FL and fell in love all over again. I thought about it and went over my finances quickly before deciding to put her on layaway through DDE.

I have a LTF on the way from the Marketplace as well. I'd been entertaining the idea of getting one for a while, but...I kept pushing it off since I already have a doll on layaway. Then one that I wanted popped up on the marketplace for a fantastic deal so...before I knew what i was doing, I messaged the seller and asked if she'd accept an offer. She did, and now I have him half paid off and will pay the rest next week. :)

So...really I'm not too bad with impulse buys, I don't think. I'm far too cautious to even look at dolls when I know I can't afford them so that I won't be tempted. But, I don't think it's really necessarily a bad thing for people to shop like that. At least the dolls can resell for their full price since plenty of people are willing to pay it if it means not dealing with the outrageous shipping fees and wait times.

    3. I felt that way after getting my girl last year. I paid for her, then sat there and went WHY'D I JUST DO THAT?! but I'm glad I bought her, she is so awesome!

    4. My impulse buys are more clothes than dolls. I see sets of stuff and sometimes can't help pming someone about them. Though admittedly i do get in trouble when a new limited comes out with a face that just snatches me by the heart, when I'm generally not in the market for anything in particular. :sweat

Layaway is both my salvation and my curse :XD:

    5. Heh, in the ast month I've done over 1,000 of impluse buy. i only meant to buy ONE doll but ended up with three and a floating head. ^^;;

    6. Sooo many impulse buys this year, or at least, what I class as impulse buys. I've never saw and bought (Cept for my Dal. She's my ONLY dolly impulse buy.) but yeah, I bought a LTF Ante after only a few days considering and a a split for a dollzone deer boy after they were announced. =S I feel bad...but I feel good too~ Cant wait till I get them!

    7. I haven't made an impulse buy yet. But I did see a doll on a 'regular' second-hand site today that gave me itching fingers to get off that face-up and give her a proper new look... I didn't want that particular doll at all, but she just looked sad and had a 'help, rescue me' kind of look about her.
Now I don't know whether to hope nobody else wants her, or hope that I'll be outbid so somebody else will rescue her (and I can use that money to buy useful stuff like... well... food, maybe?)

    8. this happens to me all the time! oops!

    9. I sometimes force myself to buy on a fleeting whim because if left to my own devises for long, I will meticulously plan out my doll characters down to the last little nuance until they bore me and subsequently never come into existence.

I impulsively bought my Cho, and when he arrived, he actually sat in a drawer for a few weeks while I tried to figure out what to do with him. I forced myself to create a new character for him and threw him into a story of mine with little to no planning. That approach seemed to work well as he evolved into one of my best characters yet! :3

It doesn't always work out as perfectly as that though. I've impulsively bought several dolls in the past and most were discarded as swiftly as I bought them.

So I guess it really takes the perfect combination of impulsiveness and inspiration for my dolls to have any longevity.

    10. I did a semi-impulse buy and a half. The first was when I almost put a Soom Keny on layaway. I was this close to actually clicking, but I changed my mind at the last minute. I'm kind of glad I did, because I ended up doing it for real with my Pyrol and Minette

    11. Thus far, I've avoided te impulse buys. I was super tempted last weekend at A-Kon, but manages to resist--mostly because I didn't fall in love with any of the ones offered. But I'm pretty constantly tempted by a few online sites. We'll see if I can hold out until GenCon, though I'm not sure if there will be dolls there. At the very least, it makes a good goal, though I'm really not sure if I'll survive that long, ha.

    12. Two a.m. Can't sleep. Thinking of the Unoa Lusis I saw on eBay. Never spent so much money on a doll before. Should I do it? Get up. Log on. Auction ending soon. So expensive! Shouldn't do it. Shouldn't. Do it. Did it! Back to bed. If it's meant to be, no one else will bid on her.

Five a.m. Alarm rings. Got to get ready for work. Log on. Auction over. She's mine. Hit the PayPal button. Did I really do that? I did. Regrets? None. She's beautiful.

    13. I agree with you, Lessyface! At A-Kon I kept thinking, "Oh my! Dolls with no shipping costs!" And yet, not a single one grabbed me at all, although they were all pretty to look at, and I purposely brought enough money. Mostly I impulse buy books, and sometimes movies, but doll stuff is too expensive and way too difficult to come by. I am a fan of doll accessories on Ebay, but I have only bought things I actually needed. Let's see if that changes in a few weeks when I gain marketplace access... ;)

    14. I know - I'm so looking forward to that. And dreading it at the same time... LOL!!!

Since I wrote my last (did not get that doll I impulse-bid on) I went totally overboard and bought a Withdoll Juwel because I just *had* to have him... Opened the forum (not this one, like I said, I don't have MP access here yet), saw his face, put my jaw back into place and hit 'pm'. And now he's mine... Or he will be, next week. :)

vermont chick, congratulations on your new doll. I'm sure she'll be gorgeous and it was meant to be. :)

    15. ALL THE TIME!!! I actually did that with Elfdoll Oasisdoll Natalie because I wanted her whole body then decided to see how much it was for just the head (her head with full face up) and before you know it I got confirmation on my order and when I got her I was sooo happy and now she's a pretty hybrid girl :D ......but usually when I get the package I'm elated and realize how nice the doll/head/part/clothing/etc.etc.etc. is and I have only once been disappointed because I forgot to measure my girls feet before I got her shoes and that's because the shoes were too big >.>...

    16. Well seeing as I have no money ive been safe XD
My mum got me all my dolls as birthday/ Christmas gifts but I have asked her to get a doll I just found before >.>
      But she usually says 'no'
So thankfully ive been protected so far :p

    17. I'm not an impulse buy person, my husband is trying to encourage me to be more impulsive and less logical. Funny thing is, I did end up buying some eyes late at night in a zombie-like state. I didn't even know what I was doing. I think it was partial sleepwalking because I didn't know I had done it until I got e-mail confirmation the next day. They are my favorite doll's main eyes and only $10, so no regrets here.
If a grail doll ever shows up mysteriously on my doorstep I may have to put a lock on my paypal. :o

    18. I have not bought a doll on impulse yet and I do not plan to... Sometimes I look at dolls and my finger hovers over 'add to cart' but I have managed to hold back for now!

    19. If I could extreme coupon, I would have so much money for dolls!
I know it's terrible, backwards logic, but it's an interesting argument to think about nonetheless.

    20. XD my little girl Alex was an impulse buy. when i saw that i had enough to pay Val off and a little extra my mouse went and clicked Buy
