Oops, did I just buy that?

Jul 28, 2010

    1. I could never buy a doll by impulse - to me they all must have characters thought out beforehand, I couldn't own a doll who didn't have a character behind it when it arrives. Buuut eyes, clothes, wigs, accessories... I can never have too much of those, and pretty much often when I have some spare money, I just shop in the net going like "hey, that looks nice, let's buy it!" The problem, though, is often that I have like 1-2 items from one company, then 1-2 from another... it's a bit costly to with the shipping costs to order, say, just a pair of eyes!

      But I have to add.... Still Not Soomed!!! :D

    2. I think it happeneds....As long as you are happy with it, a weightloss program is fine.
      just remember do not overbudget yourself. In order to live better and make your doll live better too.
      I think it is necessary, doll owners get a job and live healthly. :)

    3. I think I am a little opposite because nearly all of the dolls I own are impulse! They cost so much that if I didnt buy them impulsively im not sure id ever buy them, id always be putting it off because of that darn logic. I always see one on sale, do a quick round of finances and ill be like "it costs $100 and I have $110, ill take it!" Probably how I ended up with so many floating heads.... Plus I never realized how superstitious I was until I started collecting. I will usually tell myself if I can get the money in time I will buy it. In two instances I have somehow sold my items and raised enough money to buy the doll the same day! I like to take it as a sign that it was meant to be. Anyways, I think impulse buys are great as long as you budget and not end up in the poor house ^^;;;;

    4. I'm a very impulsive shopper >~< I try to avoid sites until I can save up. Or only look if I know I have no money so I -can't- buy :D If I can talk myself out of it, I didn't really want the stuff. But chances are I really want it XD

    5. That actually happened to me today. OOPS! ChocoPuki Lily is now MINE! *evil laugh* Oh, sorry. :)

    6. Yep, this past Sunday I saw that Volks USA had some Yo-SDs for sale soooo... I bought Papi :sweat. I fell in love with her pouty lips and chubby cheeks! I've been wanting a Yo for a looong time and she's just perfect! She'll be here Friday!

    7. Noob jumping in here. I was SOOMED my first and only doll. It was total impulse after lurking and dreaming of winning the lottery for years. I fell in love with my Ilana, swoomed for my SOOM and jumped right in....then I discovered....
      I fell into a burning ring of fire...I went down, down, down and the flames went higher............

    8. I bought 3 OT dolls on whims just to satisfy my want, but they didn't do it. And now I've realized I just need to save for the one I really want.

    9. i recently paid off my 2 credit cards - yay! ...but. then i saw a girl in the marketplace.

      there is a doll personality that i have thought out, and knew someday i would plan out. but when i saw that girl, she looked like the one, and i just did it. >< so i'm back to square one with my credit cards, but i'm happy. ^_^

    10. I can't really impluse buy since i don't have a credit card but my rd Kyo I have was very impulsive for me >< They were having the Christmas sell so i ran down and practically begged my Grandma for him, but I am very happy with him and he even has a back story! ^^

    11. No impulse buys yet, but I've come close a few times. Usually when I'm considering getting a doll I obsess and second guess like crazy. It's a lot of money to just drop!

      Materials that I can make into accessories though...I've impulse bought way more of those than I should have.

    12. Yup! My Migidoll Ryu head, I got him off the marketplace. Literally the only thought in my head before before PMing the seller was "Not SA. Not vampire. WS. and faceup that looks like Tantalus? Yes."
      But he was the first doll I ever wanted, and planned to get him eventually, so was it really impulse? I guess compared to how I usually shop, it is. Typically I see something that I want, look at it for three days, and if after my next paycheck I still want it, I get it. As far as non-doll things go, though, I'm an awful impulse buyer. I just came home yesterday with a Depeche Mode shirt and the full Star Trek: ToS set on DVD. We almost bought a TV cabinet and a Charlie Sheen quote shirt ("WINNING" with a picture of his face; ilu hot topic) too, but there was no room in the car for the cabinet, and the store was closing so I didn't have TIME to get Charlie Sheen. It's pretty bad. But doll stuff, to me, is extremely expensive for the size and utility so it takes a LOT of debate with myself to decide whether or not I like it THAT much.

    13. When browsing the web for any type of online shopping I always force myself to read everything on the page. This is because I don't so much impulse buy, but one time I wanted to see the grand total of an item i was interested in on ebay. On accident I clicked something along the lines of "bid" so I was forced to buy the product. Lucky it was a great item but still, I learned from it. Don't half read what you click when your half asleep...

    14. I guess in a way, the DollGru head I ordered a few days ago was an impulse buy. When I first saw the #9 mold, I searched through Den of Angels to see where I could possibly get one, but learned that they were "limited", so I quickly dropped the thought. But while browsing BJD Collectasy, I saw the news about the ordering period for #8 - #11 heads, so I just had to jump at the chance to own one.

      The only thing I regret about it is that I have no idea what to do with the head. I have no body and it'll be blank when it arrives. I guess I'll finally get that practice head I've always want. . .

    15. No impulsive buys, really. Except that time I saw SD17 Williams re-release on Volks USA and joined the lottery but I didn't win so it doesn't count. I also bought my Heliot twins without thinking too much but I've still done a couple of days worth of thinking. They kept growing and growing on me, so it was hard to resist, especially since layaway was available.
      I don't really have original characters that I base my dolls on so I usually just go with the ones that I really like then create a character after them. I'm not much of a writer so... They're mostly for my viewing pleasure and if I really like a doll, impulsive or not, I end up buying it even if it takes me months or sometimes a year to save.

    16. I think in the end all of my dolls have been impulse buys, sort of...I'll go back over and over to look at them on the website, and then, I'll start playing around, putting it in the shopping cart, you know just to check the shipping ^_^;; Then, at some point, I'll click that "buy" button, and then I'll be like "OMG, did I just buy a doll?!" Because it's never like I have a really GOOD reason to buy one, lol...

    17. I've had a lot of impulse buys: Pukifee Luna, bobobie Ariel, KDF Ani, HDF Pie, YoSD Tanpopo, Littlefee Flora, Volks SDC Kaede.... that's all that comes to mind, there may have been more... I regret all of them except my KDF Ani, who I really do love. I blame it all on being new to the hobby and just trying everything out...
      But no more impulse buys for me! lol... Maybe clothes and wigs and stuff, but no more dolls!
      I have my set list now, and I'm sticking to it.

    18. I got Soomed recently ~sigh~ My first new purchase (other than a LLT Roderich head I'm not quite sure what to do with until I can figure out the resin color), since I've only been in the hobby for like 6 weeks. But then York came up and I was suckered, especially since I was just thinking that I wanted a tan, muscular boy for my Emma.

      Oh, sure I could use the money to get some work done on my car, but since I make enough to pay him off quickly, I hemmed and hawed and then jumped for it late one evening after staring at the pictures for like an hour.

    19. I would never buy a doll impulsively. I just don't usually have the cash to throw around for that. I did buy two Dollfie Dream II bodies with only a week of research and I sort of regretting that at first, but it should be okay since I'm buying heads for them next month. xD Whenever I have money I buy so many shoes, clothes, wigs, and eyes. I feel like my dolls were just sitting around eyeless and bald because I bought so many wigs and eyes and they still needed more. .___.;;

    20. No extreme impulses yet :p Though the time between seeing a doll and buying it can be rather short if I really love them :p
      Though I guess it might be a good thing that I do'nt have a CC linked to my paypal xD Even though I wouldn't buy a doll whithout overthinking it, I don't know wether that would be the case for clothing -_-'
