Opinions about Obitsus - Pros and Cons?

Sep 3, 2006

    1. You could stuff her torso with batting or stuffing to firm her up. I'm tempted to try it on LeFay.

    2. oooooo hadn't thought of that! I might just have to give that a try ;)

    3. yay!! Lottie's leg is fixed!! thanks so much for all your help and advice everyone :) I heated the joint with a dryer, managed to pull the leg off and then slid it back on. one satisfying pop and I thought 'yes!' but it was back to the same place as before!!! :...( so I got a wee bit mad and squished her really hard and that did the trick. yippee.
She is resting now, still refusing to stand but I'm sure she will forgive me soon!! Thanks a million

    4. I personally don't like them at all...
I bought one when Haruka first came out... I found the sculpt clunky and primitive, and I didn't like how light they were (weight-wise).

The poseability was fine and all that... but I definitely prefer resin, though I know it costs more.

PS I love Haruka's face though... she's so cute!

    5. Hurray! :D I am so glad your girl is fixed!

    6. I love Obitsu. Well I love her long legs xD
I have the BJD one. She's really pretty. Even though it's hard to make clothes. But they are definately perfect for first BJDs!

And the heads are cheap, so it was perfect for me to practice her face up.
Plus, you don't have to be so gentle with them (not that I throw mine around xD;;)

But it's really easy and cheap to get replacement parts incase something does happen.
Here is a picture of my girl <3

but now that I know I love BJDs, I want a BJD with a body shape which is more common. Like dollzone xD

    7. i suppose, obitsu is a good starting point to get a less expensive large BJD.

I wanted to get one just to learn how to do face up but then again i dunno, I was having a look at the obitsu smaller ones and they remind of barbie and action men too much. The larger 60cm obitsu... i prefer a boy one but th boy bodies aren't as nice as resin made ones.

I have nothing against them but after doing some research i still prefer the resin BJDs, i rather spend the money of a large obitsu on a tiny or a mini resin.

    8. Yeah! I'm sure she'll stand when she's rested. :)

    9. Obitsu was my first doll coming into the doll hobby.
      I got a 27cm doll about a year ago.

While I am one of those who love to play with my dolls, I needed to make sure I was "mature" enough to actually have a more expensive doll in the future.
:sweat I haven't gotten a real strung BJD, and ended up buying more Obi's.

      I'm getting my first 23cm doll. :)

I do have some pics, but to keep this thread from being spammed, I'll only put the links. :XD:

As much as I love the strung dolls, I'll always have a soft spot for the Obitsu.

    10. :sweat Heh, she makes me vomit she's sooo sweet.
Alas, I dun like the 60cm bodies... I want something smaller... with huge milk parts :aninja: If Parabox/Obitsu would just go ahead and come out with the goods, we'd be set.

For now, she sits on my dresser. :doh

Oh yeah... Obitsu are excellent!! Lou got on to me for sending him a "dirty" doll to paint. Compared to his dolls that spend their time in their boxes, heck yeah mine would be "dirty" to him.

    11. orian is my 55 cm obitsu boy, and I adore him. I'm kind of afraid to get a resin doll, really. o.o now that im so used to how easy it is to play with Orian...

    12. koka,
I have resin dolls and vinyl dolls and my vinyls get a LOT more play time. They are just easier to carry and my Obistu is a great model, so she gets more clothes because it's easier to fit them on her.
      Susan

    13. i love my obitsu 60cm :aheartbea

as mentioned shes super at poses
she doesn't kick me in the face....
and its easy to take her apart

my biggest problem with her is that she creaks worse than an old barn door..
which surprised me when i got her...
its not that i don't like her for it..
      it just makes me laugh..

and yeah i tried the 1/6 dolls to see if this really was a hobby i wanted to do
      i prefer the 21cm to the 27cm
cause my 21 is better at posing than my 27

    14. Lol, my ball-joint obitsu body does that when ever I move her knees--it doesn't bother me in the slightest, but it seems to freak other people out.

    15. oh yes that it does..
first thing i did to her after getting her dressed was put her in the "exorcist walking down the stairs" pose and move her towards a friend..
      he actually jumped back..

      muahahah...

    16. I have a 55cm boy, Davenport, he's wonderful. :) I took him to the London expo last weekend, and he got SO much love. I actually got several instances of "What sculpt is he?" "The new Obitsu." "REALLY? He's... GORGEOUS!" :D Unfortunately they've got a bad rep but if they're done well, they can be BEAUTIFUL, and Davenport is. ;) He's got a modified head with eyeholes and a slightly thinned face. He's skinny-as, and WAS a pain to clothe, but I'm discovering that not only can I very easily make leggings for him and turn armwarmers into tops, but a lot of MSD clothes can fit quite nicely, too!
I like his squeaking now, I'm used to it. :) Sometimes his body comes apart, which freaks me out and it takes a long time to get back together, but I'm slowly getting used to it. Also his boyfriend is a resin MSD, and being so sturdy, when I photograph them cuddling he can easily hold his boyfriend up. :aheartbea

    17. yeah i freaked the first time my 60cm lost her legs...
now i think its fun that shes so easy to take apart

    18. I just got started on my first boy not that long ago I bought a Haruka head about a week ago in Dallas when I was out in Dallas for an anime convention. I am planning on getting a PB-6001-S Head with Eye holes (Gretel Doll Head) and a Angela Head as well.

The main reason I got an obitsu head was because I wanted to have a boy that had percings (eyebrow, chin, one lobe and a helix) I also want to give my girl a small nose piercing when I get her as well. I figured using softer material like vinyl would be a lot easier to use then resin. But I am still planning getting a few resin heads and bodies. Just probably will take a lil while on the bodies since they are a bit more expensive then the heads but that should not be an issue.

I also had a really quick question I have already noticed the my poor Jun has some very slight discoloring on his head...luckily its barely noticeable and I am thinking I will just cover the spot on his head cap with a piece of velcroche once I get ready for him to get some wigs. But I am wondering are there any kinds of particular fabrics that I need to be careful with once I get clothes and wigs...things like that. Just wondering what kind of precautions I can take to not have him get stained on me right away. Any advise on the matter would be wonderfully appreciated
      Thank you!

    19. I saw some obistu bodies at Akon this weekend- after seeing thme I much prefer them to others I've seen. I must now save up to get a 47cm Gretle. It MUST BE MINE.
