It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Opinions about Obitsus - Pros and Cons?

Sep 3, 2006

    1. here's something to try and revive the thread! I heard that they were coming up with a more 'refined posing' body sometime this year. Does anyone know about that?

OH and I heard that they don't need eye putty due to the eye pockets, but then the images on parabox don't exactly show you how it works. I'm thinking you need to soften the vinyl with hairdryer?

    2. I don't know about any refined posing body but the newer 50cm body has a totally redesigned skeletal structure with double pivot knees and elbows and a more versatile and flexible shoulder/chest joint.

The eye pockets in some of the heads are little tubes just inside the eye socket. The eyes can be pushed into these tubes from inside the head without heating. Depending on the size and shape of the eye, a little eye putty is sometimes needed to prevent "wandering eye" syndrome.

    3. ah, thanks so much for the info and the piccies! I've noticed that the elbow joints were diff. from the other bodies, and the pics clear it up.

    4. hi
dont know if this will help

I started out with an obitsu and being honest if I had know how an obistu would mark so easy with certain darker colour clothes I would have gone for a resin doll straight away as it is so heart breaking to see.

In all fairness an obitsu does have amazing posing abilities and the faces can look great when made up. The body is slimmer than most resin dolls - very similar to a dream body as they are same shapes. The ability to change parts are also easy to do. But the main thing in my opinion against the Obistu dolls is the colour sucking that they can be prone to. Yes they are cheap to start out and do make a nice learning curve but I would say resin is far better and in the long run more pleasing as you do not have to keep checking if the dye in clothes has run.

This is just what I found with Obitsu's and yes I agree they are lovely but the dye thing people should be aware of if they have never owned one.

I do still own one Obistu she is the large bust girl and I do love her but I keep her firmly away from any other doll wearing dark clothes as they can get on the Obistu causing issues and she is only aloud to wear white! I am very careful what she does wear.

    5. Here's my boy...yes, I do love picspamming him. Please welcome Yamamoto Zetto, wannabe rock star and all around stand up guy!

Faceup by Biff. The asymmetrical eye pupils are a tip of the hat to David Bowie. They were not done like this on purpose: they were sold as seconds. "Honor thy mistake as a hidden intention" -- Brian Eno

This is an old-school, non eye pocket Gretel head. It does make for a nice boy if faced up correctly.

Zetto started off with me as a 60cm two-piece standard joint girl with a male chest retrofit. As you can see, the replacement of the standard 60cm abdomen with a 55cm boy abdomen made him more manly looking. The protective suit was made for me by BeachGirlNikita. I have it on "backwards" so that he can leave a couple of buttons unbuttoned on his shirt. My Dollfie Dream Natsume Yumiko Arisu has a similar protective suit, in fleshtone lacy lycra. Very pretty. With these suits on, no need to fear bright or dark colored clothes! Yay!

Without the suit. His abdomen will be blushed to match the tone of the other pieces.

He and his Dollfie Dream girlfriend are very well suited for each other. I suppose you can say this is by design.

The protective suit looks just like a long sleeved white t-shirt when exposed. Looks good. Actually the pleather pants and the punk vest came with the body when I bought it here on DoA.

Can I call this Steampunk if they don't have their goggles and scientific gear yet? If not, call this Victoriana. All of this stuff they are wearing save for the satin shirt on Zetto is DoA finds. The satin shirt is from Parabox.

Hope this helps! I love my Obitsu boy, and it shows.

    6. Yes, vinyl (Obitsu and Dollfie Dream) does stain. Resin stains as well but at a much slower rate as resin is not as porous a material. Most stains on vinyl can be removed with Remove-Zits from Twin Pines of Maine.

In the worst case all parts for the Obitsu, both interior and exterior (except the just released 65cm body), are available for purchase and are relatively inexpensive.

    7. I Love your Obitsu guy Zetto! I have four 60 cm Obitsu girls, now I must get them a guy friend!

    8. You won't regret it. You just have to go to Parabox and get a 55cm boy outer abdomen piece to replace the curvy womanly 60cm 2-piece girl abdomen piece, and a 60cm boy chest. The 55cm boy chest also works, although you have to mod it a little to get it situated. Kiki-chan has an Obitsu boy with a 55cm chest and abdomen if my memory serves me right.

I will be getting a 50cm Obitsu girl soon. Zetto's bratty, tomgirl kid sister is going to enter the picture. Resistance is futile. Must assimilate.

    9. Those are fantastic pictures. Oh, Haruka may be destined for a body after all, if she'd fit...

    10. The Haruka head fits the 50cm body very nicely. Here are four Haruka/50cms of my ah...many.

It even looks good without kitty ears

    11. ok this is a stupid question but....is dollfie dream the same as an obitsu? they kinda look the same so i was curious...but i don't know anything about the vinyl dolls and haven't found the answer to my question.....lol sorry if it's silly ^^'

    12. I have a 60cm obitsu and it seems the new neck piece does anyone know if there is some kinda of tutorial to change the head for the new neck piece? On the Parabox website its shows how to take off the head with new neck piece attached from the body but not how to take the head off the neck piece to switch heads...thanks for any further info. I might have to consider getting the old neck piece looks easier.

    13. You do NOT want the oldschool neck piece. Srsly. With the "doughnut" you need a needle nosed pliers to turn the fastener, and without the "doughnut" the head fastener will disengage randomly, and your doll will do its imitation of the Headless Horseman (woman) Your hairdryer is your friend with the new school neckpiece. Warm the inside bottom of the head up and work the head off the neck. But you really should decide on a head and stick with it. You don't want to do this with a head that has a faceup. You could screw up the faceup if you handle the head too much.

    14. hmmm I'm still confused the pics they show on Parabox you heat the neck and take it off the body, neck piece and head all in one...so your saying you can just pop the head off?
That is why I thought the old neck piece might be better, seems if you keep having to heat it up for what ever reason it could damage it, but the old piece you don't need to heat up...still debating, I don't like the idea of taking a hair dryer to my doll. Would love to find some pics or video showing how to take the head off.
      Thanks

    15. Hair dryers are tool number one for working with vinyl dolls. Heating the vinyl parts with a hair dryer makes the "soft" vinyl much more malleable, reducing the amount of struggling with removing/replacing parts. It is possible to heat the vinyl so hot that you can't touch it. It won't hurt the vinyl but there's no need to get that hot. The only way you can really damage the vinyl is if you touch the business end of the hot hair dryer to the vinyl. Just keep your distance and you'll be fine.

To separate the head and neck piece, remove the head cap, heat inside the head with your hair dryer, grip the head carefully (away from the face up), and pull the two apart. It might be a little scary the first time, watching the vinyl deform as the neck piece comes out, but it really doesn't hurt the vinyl at all.

      As for pictures and tutorials...

    16. Thanks for the link...I should have Keiyoko back tomorrow from her face ups and will attempt the head changing...hmm maybe I'll video tape it as well.

    17. hello~ I just got my Gretel head in the mail, and lemme tell you, I absolutely love her, even though she's blank and meant to be *just* a practice head, I'm already considering getting a body for her in the distant future...OH and also, a question--is there a way to make it easier to remove/put on the headcap? I remember seeing a guide somewhere, but can't find it DX

    18. The head cap just sort of peels off the head easily. Believe me, you've never experienced struggling with a headcap until you've struggled with a Dollfie Dream headcap. Putting it back on can be a little annoying but you sort of have to smoosh it in until it catches.

    19. Would the Gretel head fit ok onto the 50cm body?
