1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ordering many dolls at once?

Nov 29, 2007

    1. Yeah, it's all preference and availability.
I chose two different dolls but am unable to get them now, so they're just orders waiting for me... My Wizard Hero and his Lady Rowena...

And then I realized their story would never be complete unless I had just one more doll. There had to be three- a hero, a love and moral support, and an antagonist.

So I caved and used some of my vacation money and got a DIM Torudoll who will become Mathonwy.

    2. Can anyone explain to me how this could even vaguely be an ethical issue beyond financial risk? I just don't understand how morals or ethics enter into this issue at all.

    3. I have thought about doing something along those lines. I'm thinking about order a DoC U, but i'm worried that he will arrive around the same time as my MD soom Glot, and that he won't get as much attention as he probably should (god i'm making them sound like children XD)
For me, it's the worry of not bonding that would probably make me not order 2 dolls at once.

    4. I do like to have that time to spend with the new doll. It's nice to spoil a baby before getting another. The only time I'm buying two dolls at once is Alice (DollZone Aimi) and Annabell (DOC Twin-B). The characters are inseperable. If one comes before the other, I wait. The box sits around getting drawn on until the other comes. I'll open them at the same time and bond with them at the same time. In fact, Alice's wig and eyes are coming with Annabell and Annabell's eyes and wig will be coming with Alice. I think it'll be fun to get to know them together. And easier to have them together at all times if they're together when they come home.

    5. The first time that I got two dolls at one time, I opened up one box and bonded with that doll, and then the next day opened the other. That worked out better for me. Of course, these were my first dolls and I waited less than a month, so I was able to be patient enough to leave the second doll in its box for awhile. xD

I find that it's harder to bond with two dolls at once but if I set apart time for each it can work! :)

    6. My guess is that it would just seem excessive. @_@ It's like buying two cars. People are like, "omfg, what... you don't need TWO new cars. D:<"

However, these is not cars. So it's not as bad. I'd be really impressed by a person who could buy two dolls at once *shifts eyes* but it does happen. xD

If you can do it, go fer it. <___> If it's one thing I've learned from Anime it's to "Buy now, think later!" _xD

    7. Assuming that you can afford to buy more than one doll at the same time, I don't see any ethical or moral problems with buying more than one doll at once. I assume that you'd give the proper amount of attention to each doll.

The only moral/ethical problems that I can see is if someone spends so much of their money on their dolls that it interferes with their ability to pay their bills. I've known plenty of collectors who've gone massively into debt over their hobbies and then have trouble paying their rent or getting their car fixed if it breaks.

    8. I'm somebody who is waiting for 2 dolls that I ordered, almost at the same time. And it is sort of an "ethical" issue in that the money I'm spending on the dolls could feed a family for a year (or more?) in bangladesh or the middle east.
But it's not really. I can't feed the world but I can have a social consciousness, which I do. And I'll bet all of us do! I read it all the time on this forum.
I can love 2 dolls at the same time (the bonding issue) but then, I've just come to this bjd obsession. In fact, I have so many dolls from years of collecting, that I have to relegate some to the basement, but I can't get rid of them because in some tiny way, I have bonded with them.
I do agree with everyone who has mentioned debt as an ethical issue. yes, we should not go into debt over dolls. yes, we should be perfect!
      haha
i was just talking to a friend who has other obsessions and we both agreed that we aren't killing anyone, we are paying our bills, we LOVE our obsessions, and it's a whole lot better than some of the things people do for "fun".
      :)

    9. I thought I might get turned off by so many at once seeing as how I ordered four since April. ^^;; But! I love them all so much. As soon as I am done their faceups, I can see them fully coming to life as their characters.

    10. I bought my two Abio Angels as a set of twins. Even though they have different expressions, their face-ups and general appearance is very similar--it's pretty wild. I was in love with them before I even got them, and now that they're here I've had no problem bonding with them. If they'd come separately and at different times, I think just one doll sitting on my dresser without her sister would have seemed lonely to me.

    11. If at all possible I think it'd be better to order them at once. It'd be convenient for both ordering and the expectation of delivery. Though if not, it just means you have one goodie to play with until the others arrive. XD

    12. I believe as long as you have the funds, room and love for the dolls then blast forward. Why would there be anything ethically wrong? If anything, you save on shipping, no?

    13. ethical? I have no idea how that could even be an issue unless it's stolen or a recast.

I ordered 2 littlefees and a minifee at the same time and they arrived at the same time (kinda saved on shipping). I have had no problem bonding. They are for different "uses" ltfs are for cute and posing and mnf is for clothes and future photography (working on face-ups).

If you want similar face-ups, you might want to order at the same time, if you can.

Do what you want... its your money, your life.

    14. I can see how it could be a bonding issue. If they both happen to show up at the same time you might end up giving all the attention to the one you like better. However since they are both new maybe they could be best friends XD!

I don't see any ethical issues...

    15. I have no problem with it... probably because I wait to get eyes and hair and clothes. They don't all come at once so I have time to work on each individual doll.

I recently bought 2 23cm obitsu girls, 1 27 cm obitsu woman, 1 27cm BBB girl, 2 blank 1/3 heads and 2 Hujoos. That all should keep me busy for a while in getting them ready to be seen by the world. I have time when I'm fixing them up to bond with them.

    16. If you already know what they are like, then two (or more) would be fine if you have the money. I'm somewhat unsure of the different scults so I would probably buy only at a time. I also think I'm a little weird with the bonding. I think if I get too many I'll get overwhelmed. As it is, my most recent happens to also be my favorite now -- I can't imagine 2, 3, 4 arriving at once. But I never say never. If there was some killer deal, I might just do it. It isn't an ethical issue. It is an ability and willingness issue :).

    17. I don't think it poses any 'bonding' issue. I recently went on a bit of a spree and ended up getting DOC twins and an AOD boy and head within two days of each other. Havent bonded yet because I havent done their faceups and gotten them all proper wigs/eyes. Thats when bonding happens for me. I also didn't bond with my first doll who was alone for a while even after I did her faceup. I guess the only reason I wish I waited between doll purchases is because now I have naked blank dollies staring at me lol Damn this rainy weather. No faceups today kids!

    18. My philosophy is that life is short, do what you love and do it lots!!! I like packages and I love packages that contain dolls. How can you get to much of a very good thing?
I really don't think ethics comes into it. Lots of people might think "how can you spend so much on a doll when people are suffering in the world", but the reality is that everyone is entitled to happiness and if you have the means and ability to provide that for yourself, then go for it.

    19. in life, its best u spend what and do what u really like and worry later....afterall you may never had the chance to worry later...

for me,i spend within my means, but i buy what i like...my spending habit has no reason.if i like something,a doll,i will get it no matter what its price may be...or like buying 9 dolls in a month?

    20. I plan to buy 2 lati yellows, but they will be sisters so they will go together and I look foward to them growing characters together I think
