1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ordering many dolls at once?

Nov 29, 2007

    1. I just received 4 dolls pretty much at the same time. One of them I waited 9 months for,the other one 6 months, the fourth one was a complete surprise as my grail doll became available after looking for one for nearly four years. I wanted each and everyone of these dolls loved the molds, etc.... The problem is not so much bonding as I don't know which one to give attention to. I find I can really devote myself to only one doll at a time, since I like to make their clothing and that's time consuming, so the other ones patiently await their turn in their box. I find that the experience of discovering each doll has been lessened because of this. That's why I don't think I will be ordering any doll for a good long while, these four deserve my attention since they are special.

    2. I have two on order right now -- I don't really see much wrong with it. I actually normally save up for two dolls at once >.>;

    3. No there's nothing wrong with having two or more on the way home at once. I have two that I'm waiting on now. The only problem I forsee is figuring out how to handle double the amount of packing stuffs!

"Bonding" with my dolls isn't something that I can only do on a 1-1 basis. I'm perfectly capable of enjoying and giving attention to multiple things at once. I like to bounce from project to project doing a little bit here and a little there. While I'm working on one doll, part of my mind is working on the other. It's fun to watch everything slowly grow. :) Having the two dolls there at once just means it it'll be easier for me to complete the picture.

    4. Don't see the issue! 3 of my dolls I bought in bits that came in around the same time, and their faces all went to the same artist, so when they came back I suddenly had 3 new dolls :XD: I'm doing the exact same thing now with 2 more dolls, I'm collecting parts and they will go off to be painted together and come back whole :) I don't think bonding for me is an issue of being able to give that doll my sole attention, it will either work for what I have in mind or inspire me in some way, or not. If I'm not really 'feeling' it after a while, I won't keep the doll, I'd rather put the money towards another project.

    5. I don't see why ordering more than one is an issue really - its personal preference. I'd probably try and avoid it unless there was limited involved though. I like to put all my attention just on one doll and then ignore the rest - so it would ruin the experience of getting/learning the other new dolls that weren't the "favourite".

    6. Nothing wrong with having several dolls coming in at once. I think it would be really exciting! If it were me though, I'd like to have at least 2 or 3 months between purchases (For instance, get 2 or 3, and then wait a bit). I'd put myself on a doll diet and give myself time to bond, fill out their personalities more, get them more clothes, etc.

    7. Sometimes you can't control....cause the waiting time is so hard for my first bjd that while I am browsing other sites I fall in love with another girl. Then finally I ordered two more dolls from different company during my waiting for my first doll.

The only trouble is that I have to buy clothes, shoes and accessories for 3 different size which cost awful lot of money.....

    8. I have three on order right now they are my first three dolls i don't see why you can't order 2 or more dolls at once since you have the money.

    9. So I think it isn't wrong to buy many dolls at once if you like them. Cause what different there are if the result is same. And you will got both dolls. But it is a still bit scary buy many BJDs.
It would be fun to order many at the same time. But I don't have money to do that. Usually when I have money just to buy one a doll so I order it right away and I don't wait to get money for two to order them same time.

    10. i don't see anything wrong with buying more than one doll at a time, but i wouldn't do it. it's hard enough to bond with one new doll, and i know i would feel guilty plunking down so much money all at once.

    11. i have ordered multiple dolls at once and the only problem i can see is time to make clothes for them all, just 'cause i like to make my own. i don't see anything wrong with it.

    12. At one point I had 7 on order at the same time...I don't think it was the smartest thing I've ever done. During the waiting I start falling in love with other dolls and before I knew it I'd ordered 7 of them. The problem is that I find it hard to keep interest in all of them at the same time.

    13. I think it's fine to order more than one doll at once for no special reason, but like you said it may be hard to bond. Otherwise I think if there is an event going on, like if you spend a certain amount of money and get something free, it'd be fine to buy more than one if you really like the sculpt.

    14. For the first time I think maybe it's good to wait a bit so you will be familiar with the ways you must treat your bjd or maybe you will see that it's too big/small for your taste, with that it wouldn't be a double mistake. But then again - if you have friends that already have dolls and are willing to help I see no problem with that~

    15. I myself do not believe BJDs have souls, (they are, after all, made of resin, so they're really just, well, a doll. A really, really, really nice doll) so there's no moral problem (for me) with ordering multiple at a time. Of course, only owning two at the moment, I haven't ever had the experience of ordering multiple at a time, but I do have a pair of twins in my story who I will be ordering at once, just in concerns of shipping cost. I see no moral problem with ordering multiple, because I become attached to things quickly and easily.

    16. I don't see a problem with ordering more than one at once but I definitely think if you're ordering more than three you're going to have a more difficult time bonding and spreading around that love. There's also the possibility that if you don't bond with a certain doll that it's just that doll, not the fact you ordered more than one at a time.

And coming from two different companies, they might not even arrive on the same day, even if you DO order them simultaneously.

    17. I ordered my Chloe and Cupid at the same time. I still have lots of ideas for both of them and even though they aren't here I feel invested in them already.

I suppose it all depends on money and what you are in for. If you got the cash and want to spend it (and I mean have cash AFTER taking care of your responsibilities not "I got paid and I'll just fast until my next paycheck!")... why not? And let's say you are into BJD's for the collecting aspect... and multiple stores have some special event or all the dollies you were dreaming of are finally released then I don't see a problem ordering at the same time. I just think there might be an problem, like an on-line shopping addiction, if someone constantly buy dolls. I mean, people buy dolls a lot but I mean when they order without a care of where the money goes.

I think I'm too tired to explain it really eloquently. Sorry! haha

    18. I just checked and I currently have 9 incoming dolls, paid for or on layaway. ^^; So...yeah, I guess I don't have any issues with ordering multiples. Even prior to these, I've had multiple arrive within a relatively short period of time (since the start of the year) and I have not had any issues with "bonding" nor would I anticipate it.

On the other hand, I can say that it's been much more difficult to make arrangements for each of them - getting clothing, shoes, eyes, wigs, etc. I imagine it could be significantly easier to concentrate on one doll at a time; once that doll reaches a state of relative "completion," one could then focus one's energy on another doll. From that perspective, I can definitely see the advantage.

I do currently have some dolls that are still waiting on getting shoes, clothes, and face-ups. On the other hand, when I go to place an order for supplies, I can save myself a bit of trouble by buying things for several dolls at once. (At least, once I have time to save up some more funds. XD )

    19. I second the idea of being wise with your finances, but if you are confident that you can afford two dolls at once while still taking care of your needs and financial responsibilities, then go for it! I ordered two dolls at once from E-bay, and they arrived in the same box. I had no problem "bonding" with them at all, as they were different, and I personally thought of them as a set (even though they were sold separately, just by the same person). In fact, it was really fun to see them sitting together, all unfinished, and then with wigs, and then their first outfits. Still no eyes, yet, though!

    20. Wow. Wait a minute, what? Why three-- but not four? Is there some known measurement of Love that can only fit 3 objects, and magically runs dry if 4 or more objects are brought into the house in the same general time-period?

Also, what about people who don't do the whole Bonding Ritual with their dolls in the first place?

Also, what about people who are perfectly capable of loving more than 4 objects/people at once?
