Ordering many dolls at once?

Nov 29, 2007

    1. I have ordered one doll in January 2012 and à second hand doll in Fabruary. I received THE second hand doll first. And I know that I have to slow down, but I fall in love with another doll. The only thing that is keeping me for not buying that doll is my family. I can afford it. That is not the issue, am I addicted I wonder? And I have no regrets for buying them. I do love them, as much as my first doll!

    2. I don't see any reason why buying multiple dolls at a time would cause an issue unless you couldn't afford them or it would cause an issue, like a fight with a spouse or getting grounded "for life". If you feel like you can't bond with more than one at a time, just get one at a time, if you would rather get several, do it. :)

    3. I don't see why it would be wrong. Would you feel bad if you bought two or three pairs of pants at the same time?

I just really don't see how it's a moral problem. they're just dolls, not like you're stealing the dolls or kidnapping children.

If you have the money and you want them do it. If it makes you happy then get them and be happy. it almost sounds like your friends are jealous and didn't want you to have something they couldn't afford. Real friends would be happy for you not telling you it's wrong to have more than one at once.

    4. My first two dolls came within the same month and I didn't have a problem. I wanted them and it was inevitable. But through a little financial luck I was able to buy both quicker than I had originally planned. Personally I think it helped having two. It was so much fun with two. Plus, it was a boy and a girl. I have different bonding experiences with each. Now, I have 3 dolls coming at the same time. All of them should be here within the same 30 day period. My 2 incoming Souldolls are my tax and Christmas money mostly. My dreamingDoll Lia is the product of my saving ability. I still paid my bills on time but I just tightened my finances a bit. I see what I did as perfectly fine. It was my money and I spent it on what I wanted. :)

    5. I feel that the only issue here would be a problem of bonding. Having some time between each doll is nice to set up meets and photo shoots. Plus its helps to slow the intake of the addiction. Even though there's no real reason not to perhaps it should be seen as a guideline :sweat.

    6. The other day my husband and I had the "what if we won the Lottery" conversation, and I said one of the silly things I would do is buy any and every bjd I ever wanted. My husband replied that was silly. I would be better served investing in my favorite company and requesting one of everything they make. God I love that man!

I know some people have an emotional component to their hobby. I'm one who does not. I just want dolls and their accoutrements and I don't have the $$$ to have all that I desire.

    7. I think you can bond with several dolls at one time. I know that I have! I have ordered three dolls within weeks of each other, so I am learning to bond with each of them and I am still "creating" their personalities/looks, as well. I think alot of people have done the same thing too. It's so hard to stop at one, anyways! haha

    8. Why not buy many dolls at once? When you get the chance, you should use it. Afterwards you can always love and bond with each of them!

    9. I ordered a Dollzone doll (Hid) back in February and I just today ordered Lilith from Island Dolls. I have to say I agree with what everyone has said here. As long as there is nothing you need the money for, why not? And I had the same lecture off one of my friends when I was thinking of buying a BJD. I say as long as you aren't hurting anyone, how is it any different to spending god knows how much on a games console? I don't ever see anybody criticizing a full grown man for buying an Xbox or PS XD

    10. Sometimes dolls come up for sale that are limited editions and are only available for a short while. If there is more than one of these that really speak to you and you can afford them I would say you should definitely buy both.

    11. I don't like receiving more than one doll at a time, but ordering multiples I don't mind! *glances at incoming doll list*

Ideally, I'd like to have at least a few weeks between dolls' arrivals, with one month being optimal. I find myself getting overwhelmed easily, if I have too much stuff coming in at once (and, this includes accessories). When I received a box of Leeke wigs and a doll on the same day, I became very flustered with unpacking and inspecting everything. I don't like that feeling.

Since I do tend to order dolls regularly, I decided to start using layaway so that I can control when my dolls arrive. I generally prefer to pay in full, but with multiple dolls on order, I like having the control of when the dolls will show up. So far, it's been working very well - I pay off dolls early when I'm ready to receive them and keep others on more extended layaway until earlier orders come in. The only downside to layaway is keeping track of payments, but, so far, I prefer the payments to having everything show up at once .

    12. Welp. *looks at signature*
      I have no regrets.

    13. I don't really see how this could ever be a problem (obligatory "as long as you are taking care of your finances and family/friends" disclaimer).

I mean, I don't like buying more than one doll a year. This is generally because of a) My finances (poor university student here) and b) My extremely picky tastes. Getting only one doll a year means I can spend the rest of the year hunting down THE perfect wig, eyes, face-up and accessories, spending easily double-triple what I spent on the doll initially to make it perfect - with ease too, because there is no one else I need to shop for. I could probably get more than one doll a year, but that wouldn't make me as happy because I would have to make concessions when it comes to their looks, and if I have to make concessions when it comes to their looks then I'd rather not have the doll at all. That's just the way I am, and that's why I usually only get one full doll a year until I start making enough money that I can afford to impart the lavish treatment on more than one doll at a time. In an emergency (and by "emergency" I mean "Doll limited by time/number", heh) I can buy two dolls, but that usually means that one ends up on the back-burner until I get around to it.

However, if someone else prioritizes dolls over completion, or if they can afford to buy many dolls at once and complete them at once, and that's how they like to do their collecting, I seriously see no hang-ups. The only thing I don't like is when certain individuals who do that start assuming things like "You can't be satisfied unless you buy several dolls at once" and start like, pitying me, the person who prefers to buy only one doll at a time, or something equally as stupid. Because, really? I'm pretty satisfied, actually. I mean yeah, it's not ideal, but I had the options and I chose mine. Kindly don't assume things. But then there are people on the other side of the fence who pity and look down on the people who buy lots of dolls because they "don't have self-control and love for their dolls", so I guess it's just a matter of there being people who are unable to understand that other people might like to do things differently from them.

    14. As long as you can afford them I don't see the problem...and of course if spending money on dolls doesn't mean that you're neglecting the other things you should be paying for. I wish I'd gotten my first doll a couple of years ago after finding out what they were, because now I'm a college student I have other things to pay for, and it looks like my first doll will be alone for quite a while.

    15. I have no problems with ordering many dolls at once - I ordered a pair of the tiger twins (Tiger Wei) from RF recently and they arrived together~ XD (Much to my adoration. They are everything I want them to be!) Although I wouldn't want to go crazy and order more than 2-3 dolls at a go because my finances simply won't be able to handle it. But if your finances can, go ahead! :)

    16. I think it really depends on the individual. I personally ordered my two hooved RS dolls at once, and when I received them I thought they were both spectacular! I've already made both of them outfits and have both of them fully styled, and I get a great deal of enjoyment out of photographing the two of them. I personally wouldn't let anyone talk you out of purchasing more than one doll at the same time, as it's entirely possible that you'll be able to bond with both of your dolls just fine.

    17. If I haven't get my dream LE doll which is really expensive I will order many dolls at once :)

    18. I've done it before and I think it's fine. The only problem I had was that I found myself focusing on just one. So even though I love them all - for me spacing it out gives me time to really appreciate each one individually. But there is definitely nothing WRONG about it!

    19. I see absolutely nothing wrong with order two or more dolls at the same time. Especially if you really like both of them, you'll probably end up with both of the dolls in your household at some point in time, so why not just order both? I'd say if you have the money, go for it.

    20. I'm actually thinking about getting two dolls from one company just because I cannot decide on which and they're both msd, so not THAT expensive. So yes, by now I can imagine that. ^^
