Ordering many dolls at once?

Nov 29, 2007

    1. I received Ari and Yuki on the same day, bonded with both no problem. Actually, Now it seems like Ari and little Yuki are best buds, Yuki practically lives in Ari's arms. I think it's because they arrived together, you can't tear them apart. As I sit at my computer, Ari sits in my lap, and Yuki sits in Ari's. So no, there's no problem ordering multiples. You may even end up with an unlikely dynamic duo!

    2. I ordered R&G together. They HAVE to be together, you see. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of having Rosencrantz and Guildenstern dolls. I bonded with them easily, although much more so with Rosencrantz because, let's face it, I was biased towards him from the start (dream doll~).

    3. I'll be ordering Ciar and Raven together. They're brothers and well evil. I wouldn't want to have two seperate boxes of evil shipped to me. One is enough. As far as Teagan, Jade, and Faelan go...they're all seperate but Jade's head is coming with Teagan as I got lucky with a free head promo.

    4. I've ordered all my dolls this way.
IU've ordered first and second one within three days (different companies), and so they arrived - within three days range too. They were my first dolls, but I didn't have any trouble in bonding with them and finding out what they are. On the other side, I first have an idea what (or whom) I want, and THEN look for a doll to represent it. So I have all the time since order to "bond" with my idea and my future doll. Of course, when they come, they are a little different, but I still have rather good base to start with.
So now I'm waiting for another four (no, I'm not a millionnaire. One of them is puki, and other is a floating head - oh, the joy of picking bodies!). They are due soon (in a week or two, all in a bunch - in 4-5 days range may be) and I don't think there will be any ethical problems. I know everything you can know beforehand about two of them, and have pretty good guess about other two.

To compare, I have three pets (2 dogs and cat). Two younger - a dog and a cat were brought to house in one day, and it was better for them, us and an older dog too. I really don't see any difficulties in coping with quantities (AND i like to have several guests in a time too).

On money side - we are two grown-up adults with no kids and obligations, no debts and good work. My partner is into bjds too - we choose them together. So... if we can afford it - we will. I'm not sure we will always order in batches - as far as I can see, next doll will be ordered solo, but this summer was good for us at work, so... we just ordered everything we wanted to.

    5. I kind of wish I'd ordered Tima's girlfriend at the same time as her cause she looks kind of sad ^^; But alas no money. But I don't think there's anything wrong with ordering two dolls at once-a lot of the times even if you order them at the same time(but from different sites) you'll get them at different times due to waiting and then you'll get a chance to bond with them both :D

    6. Right now I feel horrible because my boy is all alone. I wanted to order them both at the same time but I simply did not have the money. I'll have enough by next month and then his girlfriend will be here! (A B&G Rin girl) I can't wait. But I see nothing wrong with ordering two at once. When I get my bobobie nissa boy and girl I plan to order them at the same time. I don't see it being a problem at all.

    7. Same here, I feel bad because my boy is all alone. He's Isao Nanjou (1st edition). He just arrived last week. Now, I'm trying to get him a friend. I asked him to choose who he wants as friend and companion from the LA Dolpa list and he said F38 without doubt. I'm ok with budget but I think it's going to be very hard to win a one off doll from that lottery. There is nothing wrong with buying two dolls at once. It's strange how I end up with Isao as my first doll. I think it's all fated. I love him, he is beautiful and brilliant. No regrets.

    8. Everyone has to choose how they want to buy their dolls, but I went on a buying frenzy and found that I didn't have time to enjoy each of the dolls. Now I am getting to know each one and not buying another doll until I appreciate what I have.

    9. well I bought my first boy and my girl about 5 months apart nd bonded with them great.

now I have a boy head and a full package girl coming in at mostly the same time, but they are so diferent. a bigger boy, a real smal girl. a boy with a backstory completely ready, a girl with no back story yet at the moment.
so completely diferent that I just *Know* they will not interrupt the interbonding a lot.

now if I were buying two dolls at a time that look/are/feel to be a lot alike (like same sex, same hight, same build, same facial expression) than I would actually be very worried about the bonding, because you will then start looking at the flaws that make the one better than the other ....... I would not like that.

but 'd say ordering more than one at a time is subjective to the dolls that are being bought at the same time. nd if you feel good about both dolls just go for it :)

    10. WOW see I would have never thought that would be an issue. I have quite a few dolls incoming right now and in the past have ordered many at one time as well. (mostly becasue its how I get my money in..it comes in large amounts all at once)

I dont even see an issue with bonding.. I mean having more then one new one at once would just encourage you to "play" with them more and together.. Now I could see where it may "push" your older doll to the side but thats about it.

    11. Looking at this purely from a "bonding" perspective...

I don't think ordering more than one doll at a time harms bonding in any way. For a couple of my dolls (Iris and Izzy most notably), I fell in love with them almost instantly upon their arrival. For some of my other dolls, it took longer. Sometimes it took some modding, or just getting the right clothes for something to "click".

I ordered twins simultaneously, and I did bond with one faster than the other... but now I've grown attached to them both and wouldn't give up either of them.

I've also ordered other (non-twin or unrelated) dolls at almost the same time, and it doesn't seem to affect bonding. It seems that I'll either "click" with a doll, or I just won't... and my other dolls don't really work into that equation.

    12. I don't have a problem with buying more than one doll at once.
Each individual have their different ways of bonding with their individual dolls, depending on the roles assigned to their dolls
In addition the dolls already with me, I have just welcomed 2 new delf girls and I don't have a problem bonding with them at all.

    13. I bond with mine pretty well. I order many dolls at once. I get close to each doll differently each time :)

    14. i usually dont order more than one at once... but lately... i have two being shipped soon, and two im planning on getting.

i made my zero doll, and didnt bond with him, but i did with my puki and well as kaorin and they were all ordered seperately... so it doesnt matter if you order one at a time.. or both... it might or might not take some time to bond with them.

get em both! less waiting time to get them both in your home.

    15. I think the only effect to getting the dolls around the same time it perhaps the loss of charm in the box openings. Box openings are pretty special and you probably want to keep it that way by not having it too often. :)

    16. My first two dolls were ordered and arrived together and I adore them both. I think it would have been really strange for these two not to arrive together, since in my profiles for them they are lovers and in a lot of ways are a balance to each other - my girl is the voice to my boys silence, the modern to his old fashioned-ness and the extrovert to his introvert.

Financially it made more sense to me to put two dolls on lay-away and combine shipping than to just pay for one outright and the wait for the next one.

I guess the only issue I would have is if one person purchased the entire set of a LE with the intent of re-selling at a higher price.

    17. I dont usually order more then one doll at once. The acception to that is my volks ran and volks swd yui, there sisters and have the same outfit i got them both last xmas and yes I had to wait to open them on xmas morn. ^^

    18. I see no problems whatsoever.

I don't have people physically close to me who are interested in BJDs and I don't bother telling anyone what I do with my money. When I do they always assume it has something to do with my various art projects. My bjds are never seen as just "dolls" to people who know me.

As for getting more than one doll at the same time...*shrugs* Go for it. I just bought a 67cm body, a tiny Soom MD Glati and 2 Minimee Mana heads. One Mana head will be a tribute doll to the legendary J-rocker and my personal fashion icon while the other will be modded into a character of mine. The body is for my single floating head I've had for quite a while and the Glati simply caught my attention. I had the money, it was available so voila! Impulse buying at it's worst. I'm regretting buying the Glati more and more as the days go by. I don't like "cute" and "tiny" stuff. *shrugs* I'm sure I can trade it for a big doll I really want.

Even if it could feel I doubt that's the first thing it would emote. I'm a very insular and solitary person so most of the characters represented in these resin shells are fiercely independent. All of them are either single or celibate, living alone, and have careers that keeps them separated from everyone else. They and I like it just like that. If it suddenly got all clingy and needy I'd have to send it away.

I had one bjd for over 2 years and all it did was lay in its box or in a dark corner all year long. I had trouble bonding with it because of the startling bobble-headedness. Nothing else, really. If I'd put that doll on a taller body the problem could've been solved but by then I just didn't feel the same way I did about the sculpt when I first bought. So I sold it. I didn't have any emotional issues selling it either.

    19. I don't think there is anything morally or ethically wrong with making a mutiple doll purchase. I mean, you are not harming anyone else with your purchase, unless of course you have some dependents you are going to be straving because of them. I did have two dolls on layaway ad they ended up arriving within the same week. One I admitedly love more than the other but that is because I am not sure I can deal with the MSD size. Honestly, I think if you are meant to bond with a certain doll nothing will get in the way of it. I can't imagine anything changing that instant feeling of love I felt when I first took Nola out of her box (and that was naked and wigless ;))

    20. I don't think there's anything wrong with buying multiple doll purchases, but I have had two different reactions to having a set of dolls arrive within the same time:

I ordered 3 dolls (not all at the same time), but they all arrived within the same 2-3 weeks. The 1st doll was a puki pongpong, the 2nd was a DZ Hid, and the 3rd was a DZ Mo. I ended up keeping the puki and the Hid, but I sold my Mo. The character I had for my Mo was way more solid than for my Hid, but I paid more attention to my Hid. (And of course, how can you NOT pay attention to a little puki pongpong^^) I think it's really up to personal preference and personal attachment to the doll.

And I don't really know what the moral to my story is^^, but I wouldn't really recommend it to a first timer to buy more than 2 dolls for their starters. It's kind of overwhelming mentally...and sometimes financially.

But in my mind, I think I wanted more dolls because I didn't want any of my dolls to be lonely...and Mo was always by himself, so I hope he is happier in his new home.
