1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Ordering many dolls at once?

Nov 29, 2007

    1. My point is: If you have the extra money...get the other because you'll save on shipping...it's like having your own group order :)

    2. I don't think there is a moral point of view. Just like it is okay to buy two pants at the same time, it should be fine to order two dolls.

Personally I wouldn't go for it, but that is because I am in no hurry. I only have a few dolls left I want to buy, but will stay many more years in this hobby. So to make sure I still have a few boxes to open in the future, I want to take it slow. Besides, I like the sweet agony of pining over a doll you don't have yet.

    3. I say, the more the merrier! I think of it as saving on shipping.

I would welcome the opportunity to purchase more than one doll at a time someday.

    4. I definitely don't see any moral or ethical issues to buying more than one doll at once, just a matter of personal preference. Do you want time between dolls to get to know each of them separately, or do you need to convince yourself to use the money from the second doll to buy stuff for the first doll (and that's my major dilemma).

My first doll I got a year ago. I had plenty of time to bond with her and I enjoyed my time with just her, but recently I bought two dolls. I got them very quickly, one right after the other. I found it hard to focus on both of my dolls to bond with them at the same but after a couple of weeks of smothering one with love and attention and then smothering the other with love and attention for a couple of weeks, all was right with my crew. it was made tougher by the fact that I got the head and body for Temperance (my iple Harin) separately. AND I got Tempe's head, then my other doll, then Tempe's body. that made bonding really tough. but you work around it. I love them both dearly now.

    5. I've read most of these posts and find them all equally interesting.
I'm getting my first two dolls at the same time, different companies, different parts of the world, one i fell in love with via the Internet and the other is being customized by friends for me. it was an impulse when i got them. mostly because i couldn't decide. i am hoping they show up a few days apart. one's on her way tomorrow and the other, honestly i don't know. LOL. So that's my story. Another reason I wanted two was so there was more then one, so that I didn't go on impulse and buy three or four more. (I already have a wish list of who is next, and I don't even have them already)
But in my mind it's up to each person, some people, like me, would adore to get two at a time, others wouldn't.

    6. indeed soom suck most of my cash due to the many dolly coming home to me :) of course i plan on moving closer to them over in japan muhahaahahahahahaha! but that won't be for another year >.> time need to fly fast soon -.-

    7. I have normally ordered more than one doll at a time, most often from the same company to save on shipping. This has never proven to be an issue to me, and I have bonded just as easily with one as with another. I love all of my dolls, timing of their arrival, or having to share their bonding time has never had any impact on the bonding process for me.

That said if you have the time and money to indulge in this fashion and it makes you happy then go for it, but if you are buying for quantity and not quality (quality of doll-owner relationship that is) then I recommend taking more time to look around and be sure you buy dolls you love, not just buying dolls to have dolls. In the end it is YOUR hobby, indulge in it how YOU want, just make sure you do it so you will enjoy it in the long run.

    8. Oh man, I wish I had enough money to get two at the same time. I'm going to order a DZ Megi and a Shoyo to be brother and sister, but I can't afford to get them both at once. I don't think I'd have trouble bonding with two at once, but it seems that that will probably never be the case.

    9. The only issue I could for see is maybe bonding, but that's not an issue for everybody. I tend to like to have a little space between my dolls, so I can get to know each one. However, some of my characters I know so well anyway that it's not really that much of an issue. If you're ordering from the same company, then it will definitely save on shipping.

    10. I've been ordering left and right lately, but it's because I finally have the funds and time to work on my dolls (gladly!). I have a Limhwa Half-elf on order, just received a Soom IO set, and will be paying off the body for my open-eyed IO and Zaoll Luv hybrid very soon. I guess that's two new girls and two new boys, but the more the merrier! By the end of the summer I want a second Zaoll Luv and in the fall I want a Supia. But, I will also be keeping my eyes peeled for the Soom monthlies as well as the new sculpts artists are working on. :D

    11. I personally think its ok, as long as you have the funds and aren't depriving yourself of necessities. =]

    12. I think the concept of doll bonding is only an issue if you want it to be. They arrive and I either like them or I don't. I would not say I bonded with them mainly because I have kids and I know what true bonding is. My dolls don't even come close (the experience may for other people - I'm simply saying it doesn't for me). So however many I buy at once depends on my budget. I've ordered from Soom and waiting 4/5 months and ordered from Fairyland where hopefully I'll only have to wait a month. I like to have a doll about to arrive and really don't care if two get here at once, that's only extra excitement.

    13. I don't see a problem ordering more then one at a time. If you want to save on shipping it's a great idea. And if you think that bonding could be a problem then only open one of them the first day that they arrive. I mean you've already waited weeks/months, what one more day??
(*ROFL over the idea that any BJD collector could leave a doll in an unopened box*)

    14. This is like asking if it's morally or ethically ok to buy two apples, or two pairs of shoes or two adult toys. Will one apple taste better than the other? Could one of those pairs of shoes be bought by someone who needed them more? Will that other adult toy get more use than the other one? Are you a bad person because of that?

      No. Seriously.

    15. I'm wading through all the info before taking the plunge, I collect other dolls so this will be my first bjd purchase and I want to get it right:)

    16. You'll be fine;) If you find a doll isn't right, it's easy to find new owners who will love it. In the meantime enjoy every minute of it--these dolls are more fun than any others I have messed with. They have much more personality!

    17. I don't have a problem with the concept, at least... being able to afford it is another matter entirely

I generally don't have problems bonding with dolls, because I generally already have their characters all sorted out for them, and I generally start creating the character after choosing the doll but before they arrive - so I rarely have dolls 'rejecting' their character.

I eventually plan on having 3 Pipo dolls - if I could afford to get them all at once, i would absolutely do it - I know exactly who they'll be when they turn up, and I know I won't have any trouble bonding with them ;)

    18. I don't see a problem in it myself, so long as you're not putting yourself in a huge debt in the process. ;)

My little siglist are all that I've amassed in a year. x.x Not that I haven't been watching the hobby from the outside, though.

      The sad thing is, I have so many more characters. Way too many. I'm not sure if it makes sense to dollify all of them, but I doubt I'll feel like I'm 'done' until I do. Still, I know I need to take it slow until I move, at least. I won't be able to fit them all in this room. ^^;

    19. I suppose that, in the end, it all depends on your relationship with dolls. For me, they are barely more than beautiful things, so bonding or not is not an issue. Thus, ordering several at once (and I confess I have...) isn't going to bother me ^^

    20. My opinion : If this is your first bjd, then maybe you should buy just one first and see if you really like it, or really happy playing with it. If yes, then you can go on and buy another, but, if not, then you can save your money and buy something else.
But, in the end, this is all up to you, if you're sure that you will be happy then go ahead, it's good to have one (or two) bjd(s) in the house. ^__^
