It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. owning the not so popular molds

Jul 18, 2009

    1. All the dolls I'm interested in are unpopular. I have a dollndoll milk, which is very unpopular. I ordered a Bobobie Lucky, which is sightly more common, but still not very popular as Lati or Pukifee. I'm interested in Cherishdolls and Dollfactory's sweet ari, both of which are unpopular. It seems like no one has any pictures of them on the internet if anyone even owns them.

But I don't care! I like the idea of having a doll people aren't used to seeing. I see so many Latis and pukis, they just don't attract me that much. It feels like everyone has one. It's kind of cool having an unpopular doll because then you feel like they are more special to only you.

    2. I know how you feel. I'm about to get the first doll I have ever truly been in love with, and I have only found four different dolls of her mold online. I'm hoping that maybe when people see her, they will fall in love and there will be more of her :D! (BTW she is a Volks Kyotenshi Byakuren)

    3. I'd say half of my collection falls in to this category. I've never seen another doll that looks like my 60cm Obitsu. AoD no longer makes the Mo head mold for my Issac and most of the BBB Elenas I've seen on DoA have been male dolls. Even my Volks dolls are kind of absent here.

I don't mind though. I buy what I like. If it works out, awesome. If not I'm sure there is someone else who would like an unusual or less known doll.

    4. I love a lot of not so popular sculpts and also some super popular ones, I don't think it matters, as long a the doll is loved :D

    5. Soom Lazules and Dollzone Brants are rather unpopular, Lazule was even discontinued for some time, and Brant is still underestimated, I think his time is to come yet. I do not see a problem here: they just suited for my characters best. And they receive a decent amount of attention because of lots of customization (both have custom faceups, wigs, mods, etc.). Well, even the most unpopular mold can be customized to receive "WOW!" reaction. If you seek for attention, of course. If doll is purchased to enjoy privately those matters mean nothing.
Otherwise, Lati Cookie is rather popular, but I can't say he receives much more attention than the other two.
I have no super popular molds like DoD Ducan or Luts El so I can't compare.

    6. The popular kids are always overrated. I think there's more charm in the less loved faces than the ones embraced by the community at large.

    7. I kind of like the thrill of getting a doll who's not that popular because then (at least for me) it's like having a completely fresh palette and you know he or she's all your own. But I pick dolls on my first reaction to their face not popularity and I'm sure that's how most people pick their dolls too :)

    8. As a lot of people have said here I don't really care how unpopular or popular a sculpt is I believe that if its right for u then u will make it a fantastic doll because it already was for u as a taste.

For example I had my two best friends who love dolls and got me into them tell me that three of my dollie choices wouldn't really work with the sculpts I had choosen previous dolls that I own. Well needless to say once they got home and face-ups by my good friend they both said that they were wrong and that some how because it was me that they worked. Really worked well.

So as I said I think it doesn't matter about the sculpt is popular wise its is weather it really works for the character and for u as a collector who cares what others say because they work for u.

    9. If you love the doll, buy it. I don't see why people care if a bunch of other people they will almost certainly never meet own the same doll as them. I mean, let's say you have an iPhone or an iPod, I can assure you that you are not alone

I can understand feeling the charm of owning a doll that is not as well represented, especially if you are customizing the doll. Your interpretation will stand out more by virtue of having less to stand out from. And I personally have thought, "I would like a mnf Miyu, but so many people have done such wonderful things with her, I can't think of a way to interpret her myself." But on the other hand, I still worked out a way to make other popular sculpts totally unique. So the problem isn't so much her popularity, but that the sculpt doesn't inspire me.

If you love the doll and it inspires you, then popularity is absolutely no concern. Just like in real life.

    10. I think it's better to have more unpopular dolls. More fun and a bit more creative because of the lack of owner pictures. You have a completely fresh palette and very little to compare he/she to, so you can let your imagination go wild if you wanted. The less popular moulds are sometimes much prettier than the more popular ones aswell. I say don't let anyone bother you, if that's what you like go for it! :aheartbea

    11. I really don't whether or not the mold of a doll is popular, if I like it I like it. My first doll was a bobobie sprite, which is one of the more popular bobobies, so I was able to look for owner pictures to see what she would look like. My second doll is a 5stardoll Ji. The company is not too popular, and neither is the mold. I think I have seen maybe one or two other girls on the forum, and I have not put my girl up yet as she still needs a shirt of her own. One thing that I did notice with my newer girl however is that I like showing her off more, but this is probably because I feel that the company she is from is under-rated and because I am in love with her body style to the point that I am thinking of replacing my Sprites body with a 5stardoll b-type body.

    12. I own a doll from what I woudnt call an unpopular company or mold, but I was actually (To my later surprise) the first person on DOA to own one, and to my knowledge I may have been the first to buy her mold, since I had bought her the day after they put her up for order :aheartbea I adore her, but not many users on here dont know of either the mold or the company. She's and Illusion Spirit Meilin, and the sweetest little girl, she was also my first doll. I love her to death, but I'm sure if I posted her here, she wouldnt get much response. Thats okay though, I dont mind it, if I love the doll, I love the doll!

    13. I searched bjd dolls for a year. I did not go with a Popular mold. I went with the one that I could afford and that I adored her face and her shape.

    14. I've got one limited Dollzone doll and even one '79's costum made doll! ^^
So she's the only one in the world looking like this.
I'm very proud of it, but it's hard to find the perfect clothes and stuff. She's a little more fat than most dolls are XD

    15. I like taking a non popular sculpt and making something completely awesome and unexpected out of it.

    16. Most of my dolls are the unpopular or less popular sculpts. The only time that bothers me is when I try to find pictures of faceups and mods on those sculpts, and I can't find anything because so few people own those dolls.

    17. Hear, hear! :-) I love seeing unpopular dolls made awesome in the galleries!

    18. Most of my dolls aren't very popular sculpts, or are unpopular because there are so many of them :sweat But popularity doesn't really matter much to me, and has never factored into why I did or didn't want a doll. I like all kinds of dolls, and I can still appreciate dolls that I may not personally find beautiful.

    19. It doesn't really matter what other people think, it's the diversity about this hobby that makes it so great! I mean, Soom Dia boys and Minifee Chloes are great, but sometimes it's just a little too much. Yeah, unpopular sculpts don't get as large reactions as more popular ones, but I don't think that that should discourage people from posting! I've wanted to check out so many "unpopular" doll sculpts only to find nothing on them but the default pictures. It's hard to want a doll that there's practically nothing on.
It kinda sucks how less popular molds do get less attention, but I think if people work hard enough on a doll, it can be beautiful and will get noticed!

    20. All my dolls are unpopular or from companies that aren't in the top 5 list for most people. I didn't start collecting to impress other people or fit in, I started collecting for my own personal enjoyment. :)
