1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

owning the not so popular molds

Jul 18, 2009

    1. I can never think of interesting titles!
That why no one looking at my photos, now I see. (What should I do~!)
      Oh well...

    2. I wouldn't say it upsets me, but I havn't seen many people around here with the same doll as me.
      :/

    3. I love limited and rares and some less popular molds. I dont usually care as much for real popular ones but Ill tell ya if you ever decide to sell, it can be a real pain X>x

    4. That won't upset me that the doll I'm going to have won't be of popular mold but it's difficult to find photos of this boy. That really makes me sad!

    5. I love my AF'S doll, but not a lot of people do, and it's very hard when I'm trying to sell her, and no one even sends a good luck :...(

    6. I've only ever seen one person who owns my favorite doll. However, I've seen people saying they'd like to buy that particular model, so maybe she's catching on. ^_^
I wish people with more unpopular molds would post their dolls a bit more, so people who like them can see owner pics before they buy.

    7. Dollndoll's old serendipity dolls. The body lines and movability is really appealing to me, but they seem not popular.

    8. I agree on what many have said before me, but I think you really can't say it enough: buy a doll you love and don't care what others think. I am guilty of not looking at most of the popular gallery threads, I look for the more rare dolls, mostly ones I want myself.. x3 Like glorydoll (I want a glorydoll so bad) and 4D dolls etc...
I love my Howl (I really though there were more of him around) and my SNG Ryun head (who has a body on his way) So post away! :D

And besides, you never know who's looking at your thread, maybe you made someone happy because they found out there are others who like the more "unpopular" molds :D I always squee a little when I see a mold I rarely, if ever, have seen! It's exciting ^__^

    9. If it's a doll that you love then I think that it's cool. If you're the only one with that doll it's like your doll is super original.

    10. I've noticed that my taste generally cuases me to gravitate toward the less popular sculpts. I love narrower and dreamy eyes, large and pronounced lips, and bold expressions. I don't like realistic sculpts at all, either. And while I like anthros, I hate cats and don't want a bear or fox.

This puts me in an odd place amoung collectors. With the exception of my BBB Bei and slight exception of my floating Scar Shiwoo head, not one of the dolls on my wishlist is very popular, some are downright unknown in the communiy.

Like my upcoming Asleep Eidolon Mo, a dreaming sculpt from a tiny Chinese company and only one other owner has posted pics of this girl on DoA. Asleep Eidolon dolls are apparently catching on, but Mo seems to be an underdog amoung them.

Also, it becomes a kind of pride thing, when you get to show off a beatiful doll that most would've passed over or never even seen unless you had bought them, it's a neat feeling.

    11. :roll:well,AE is not a TINY chinese company.it's just as popular compare to DZ within asia area.

    12. I'm pretty sure my doll is the least popular doll in existence. Ringdoll Lily. xD I don't care at all, I fell in love with her and I paid for her. So why should I be concerned if the rest of the community feels the same? I can't see how people would only reply to things about popular dolls, I love to see a doll I've never seen before!

    13. While I own two pretty popular dolls (B&G Sapphira and Soom Glot), I love a lot of more unusual, less popular dolls and would love to add them to my collection someday. Lately I've begun to want dolls with more realistic features (smaller eyes, bigger noses, etc.) and I know they are not as popular as the more anime-influenced dolls. I love them, though, and for me that's all that matters! I'd never buy a doll just solely because it was popular (or unpopular!), I buy dolls because I genuinely love the sculpt. :)

    14. I love my unpopular molds! I don't fall for them due to their popularity, but mostly because they have something I love. And when I fall for a doll, it's the forever kind of thing, especially if I'm buying him/her.

    15. I actually find myself drawn to unpopular molds. You don't get to see them around very often so when you do see them, I'm like a little kid in a candy store. One comment on my current doll was that the company pictures made him look ugly but once they saw my photos of him, they thought he looked quite nice. I actually liked the company pictures which is why I bought him. He really wasn't a very sweet looking doll in those photos and that's what attracted me to him.

The downside to liking unpopular molds is that it's frustrating trying to find owner pics of them to see how they look compared to the company photos.

I tend not to post in galleries on big forums because your threads do get lost but if you enjoy taking and sharing the photos of your dolls, I say just post them. Don't worry about the dull responses, chances are, people are clicking and looking but just aren't commenting for some reason or other (they may not have something to say or they are just people who prefer to lurk and don't tend to post comments).

    16. I don't think the popularity of a mold really matters... as long as the owner likes it. :) I have dolls that seem quite unpopular (Soom Nion, FDoll Victor, DIM Belita), and some that are incredibly popular (Delf Lishe, Soom Beryl, Glot), but I love them all. :aheartbea:

The only thing that makes me a little sad is that I wish I could see more of some sculpts. I would love to see more Nions or Belitas around, but they just don't seem to be all that common.

    17. I a Domuya Zen that seems unpopular and I love him dearly, he is married to my Supia Roda, shame that hardly anyone has this doll or post pics of him as I usually do.

    18. usually the name of the company is the last thing i look at. if i see a sculpt that really entrances me, i do not think, 'oh, i cannot get him or her....he or she is not popular'. to me that is not a consideration. if i find the sculpt beautiful, that's the most important thing.
there are some unusual faces out there and if i buy a doll that is considered weird or unpopular, so be it!

    19. I'm usually atracted to the unpopular molds... Sometimes I just get tired of seeing the same sculpts over and over again on the forums... XD
The biggest problem of the unpopular molds is that you don't get to see enought owner pictures of them, so sometimes it's really hard to decide if you really want him...

    20. It is sort of sad to post photos when they receive luke-warm responses, but I can't always help it. For example, I have lots of photos of my Pipptan and I love to photograph her... but I don't even think I know anyone who has one anymore. I love her to bits, and she has a couple fans on my flickr, but overall people really don't respond to her that positively. It makes me a bit sad because I do find her completely charming, but then I do have my dolls to make me happy, so I guess it doesn't matter in the end. :)
