1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

[....Oyaji? The Old Man] (mature, older-looking head sculpts)

Oct 3, 2005

    1. i think people go younger usually because they look pretty (even the boys) where an older one may look a little more rugged ^^

      Just my opinion.

    2. But rugged can also be quite attractive...if done in the right style.

    3. Echoing what Lelite and Lula78 have said. I think there are two main reasons why there aren't older looking dolls on the market. First of all there's the body. To really pull off the 'older' look, the body cannot look as fit as a teenagers body. Gravity took its tole on the torso, arms and legs and while everything looks fine when the doll is just standing, it might look really strange when you start posing it (because the skin and fat can't move the way they naturally do).

Even if a sculptor finds a way to make it work without the skinfolds having a negative effect on the jointing, there is still the problem of demand. Making bodies is very time consuming. You could create a head in a few weeks tops, but to sculpt a body with properly functioning joints, it could easily take you a year or two. You don't make a body for just one head and then move on. But at the same time you only make more dolls when there are enough buyers interested and when a sculptor can't be relatively sure his dolls will sell, he won't spend a small fortune on producing them.

    4. But there are some bodies on the market which look, IMO, far older than the face on them. The veins and the muscle pronounciation on them very often belongs to bodies of about 30-40 years. But the heads for them are the heads of 15-20 year old guys.

Examples: Soom Idealian and Mega Gem, EID model body, Granado 64 cm male body. I am sure these are only a few of them.

And there are elder men (40-60 years) who still have excellent looking bodies, without muscles or skin hanging down. Just more pronounciated. But these often do regular training.

I guess that Sean Connery in "Never say Never" showed a still very sexy body, even if he was in his fifties at that time. I would love a body with this structure (although I do not know whether I like that much hair, but thats something else).

Or take Chow Yun Fat. I would say he is still very impressive. Oh, how much some attractive, mature men would be a danger for me...

    5. Generally I think it's a lack of demand. The economy is so sluggish right now that no company is going to risk the loss they'd take making a doll that not many people will want.

Me, I'm going to go right on modding myself some lovely mature men and women. I don't have any teenage characters, I'd have no patience for them.

(I haven't got much against teens, I was one once not very long ago, but I just don't have the mental energy to cope with having characters going through the emotional rollercoaster that is teen life. Been there, done that, no thank you.)
