1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Participating in the online doll community?

Apr 27, 2007

    1. I don't think it's important to be a part of the online doll community, but I personally enjoy it, if only because it helps me keep up with company news. I'm not dedicated enough to dig up all that information on my own. n_~

However, I think that everyone has different ways to enjoy their interests. Some people are very active in the online community--sharing massive photoshoots, participating in every discussion, and really connecting with other owners. I'm certainly not that active, and I'd be even less active if my schedule changed. I mainly browse online doll communities to amuse myself when I have only the internet as an option. I'm sure there are other doll owners that have absolutely no need for the online community, and I can completely understand why. Not everyone is interested in trends or other owners.

    2. I think that the online community is an important part of enjoying your doll, though you can enjoy it without it. Personally I believe that it important to have a place where those with the same hobby can gather to share experiences, advice, excitement, and just the general fun of the hobby. It is a fantastic resource for exchanging services and information. Without the online community I would find that difficult though it is definitely possible.

    3. I don't think it's entirely necessary to be involved in the doll community in order to enjoy your doll, but for me it has helped so much! For one, a lot of the dolls I have I bought here. (This also goes for several dolls I want in the future that are sold out limited editions.) Beyond that, I plan to have the customizations on them (faceups, body blushing, tattoos, piercings, etc.) done by users here. ^^

    4. I don't think it's necessay to participate in general, since everybody enjoys their dolls in their own special way.

I've always loved online communities, just because there are other people with the same interest. But for the doll hobby in general I love the community, but more the local ones. Since there aren't that many owners in belgium and no real forum for belgians only, the dutch fora are about the only way to have contact with people who have become friends over time :)

    5. I have always enjoyed being in a community for what ever hobby I've enjoyed. You get a lot of inspiration and so many creative ideas from others with basicly your own mind set. I have learnd so much from the diffrent communitys I've participated in. I learned to scrape tarter from my dogs teeth, how to peirce my dolls ears and a wealth of online friends, some of which I have actully traveled to meet. I could NOT enjoy my dolls without other peoples imput, I think I would stagnate.

    6. Hahaha my only girls right now are obitsus, and OT, so it is kinda discouraging to have so many important questions about them go unanswered because this is practically the only in-use bjd forum I can find, and I can get no info on my little lovelies. D: So I think it's important TO ME, only for taking care of them properly. But I can enjoy them regardless. :3

    7. I don't think the community is needed per se, but I think it does aid in the enjoyment quite a bit. : ) People can share photos and stories and such that they would normally have to show to friends and family who may not care. Or they could post them on a website that someone may find in an off-chance that it came up on Google.
