1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Peak's Woods Mini Discussion Thread

Jun 15, 2008

1. thanks everyone! Part of me is excited about all these plans and the other part is is like "why you make yourself so excited when you have to wait so long?!" :XD: My only other msd is a FL mnf and their measurements are different enough that I don't think I can really use her as a model to make clothes. I might be able to come up with a couple basic dresses before they get here so I at least have some sort of mirrored outfits for them for the initial photos...

your plans sound exciting PoeticSoul! I can't wait to see your girls all put together. :aheartbea

if the lavender-pink is anything like the grey skin on my FOC Elf Tristan then the seams aren't that bad at all sadi-chan. and I would think the LP color would be easier to sand than the grey if needed?

sheildmaiden, since the new bodies are so similar to the newer FOC Lolita bodies I felt safe in thinking these girls would be pretty decent posers. I did opt for the split thigh on my FOC lady and I'm pretty sure it makes a decent difference. It allows for some really pretty ladylike sitting with the legs tucked to the side and a bit more wiggle room with adjusting the legs and feet for standing poses.

Cydril, the extra wait on their layaway is slightly frustrating but their dolls are gorgeous enough that I try to constantly remind myself that it's worth it. At least you have one girl home already to occupy you? ;)

congrats designedforsmiles! glad everything got worked out in time for you. :)

did anyone else opt for the additional heel feet? I'm really hoping that they'll fit into some of the heel shoes I have for my mnf. it would be so much easier if all the companies had to follow the same degree and curvature of the arch for heeled feet...

2. CuriousRaven thanks for the info! That is good to know

Also another bit of info there is going to have a Halloween event for FoB with different kind of skins this year, for now is still a secret and they didn't said a date but is coming. So I'm thinking on waiting and maybe trying to get 2 dolls on the event XD. They were very helpful and I kind feel worried I annoy them with so many questions.

3. I asked them about a boy body release for FoB, and they seem to not understand the question, so I mailed them back with a simpler version, and no reply T,T. Oh well, I will just budget for it in the coming year just in case, because knowing me...I'll want two...hahaha, now to just manage to hold off on buying an Big Dandy to hold me over >,<. I almost lost that battle with Kass and Tristan...

4. Halloween event??:o Well thats exciting!

Haha, thats true CuriousRaven!
Heres some spam of ladybee settling in with her roommates

5. Hello Peak's Woods doll owners. :daisy

After seeing the teaser for the FOB Halloween girls I'm trying to read up on Peak's Woods layaway system because I am smitten with that blue-green-gray-whatever-it's-called resin. :love

Anyway, I was wondering if those who own a KoonieS can share preferred eye size. Her listing states 14mm or 16mm is sent with her, and I'm wondering if 16mm looks too big.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

6. I'm watching wondering the layaway as well, I'm hoping people that can buy with their layaway plan can show some light. They said you need to make payments in three months so is not canceled, so stead of saying I will pay once per month could I make the payment plan to pay in two in two months? Also if you buy more than on doll can you still make the payment of $50 per month and later pay more than you planned when you can?

I really want to get Dotty Muse and R Lady Bee on the special skins so layaway is the only way for now.

7. I can certainly shed light on the layaway situation for you from recent experience (since I have a long layaway going with Peakswoods at the current time.):sweat The good news is that they really have the best layaway system around in my opinion! It isn't limited by time (mine for 12 months.) The only limitation is that payments have to be at least $50 per month (but you can pay more whenever you like in order to pay your doll off earlier, which is what I'm planning to do with mine.) When you order, you just put in the comments section of the order how many months you'd like your layaway to be, and that you'd like to make your payments through Paypal. They will then send you an email with their Paypal address and an order number to include with each of your payments. Then every month, you just remember to send them your payment. At least that's how I did it and it was super easy!:)

8. They're still super flexible with layaways, even in light of the changes! When you message them to set one up, they'll pretty much accept any plan so long as it falls within the parameters (each payment must be $50.00 or more; if you stop paying and three months go by without contacting them about it, they'll cancel the order; you have 20 months to complete the layaway unless you arrange something longer) and it's fine to pay more! I'm in the middle of a long layaway for my lavender pink Mia and I've been doubling up on my payments when I can. I also gave them a general 'so I'm thinking x number of payments' rather than give specific dates and they were fine with it. :)

Edit: Seconding PoeticSoul, their layaway system is so accommodating- you can't ask for much better direct from a company!

9. @ashooree explained it beautifully. :) Just in case, though, I've gone into the layaway rules in a little more detail, with some notes on my personal experience!

1. When you've put your order together and you check out, there is a comments section near the bottom of the checkout form for you to write that you want to pay by layaway, and the option for PayPal is "Bank transfer (PayPal)" in the dropdown menu near the bottom. The order form doesn't automatically connect to PayPal or deduct anything from your bank account so you won't need to use the order form itself again; you just sign into PayPal itself and send payments independently, and Peak's Woods will confirm and make updates on their site.

2. While you're writing your layaway terms in the comments box in the checkout form (e.g. "$100 per month for 4 months" or similar), your payments have to be at least $50 each, and your plan can't exceed 20 consecutive months (a year and eight months; pretty lenient for any company!). They also don't have any solid due dates for payments aside from the maximum term and the three-month grace period, so you can make payments any time during a given month. If you wanted somewhat flexible payments in your plan, like paying $50 one month and then $100 the next month and then $74.50 the next month, Peak's Woods doesn't have problem with different amounts, larger payments, or early payments SO LONG AS you let them know beforehand, either by laying out the plan using the PayPal comment box, or emailing them, using the CS board, or messaging them on Facebook to let them know about any changes. For my layaway, I had initially planned a 6-month layaway divided into equal payments (well, as equal as I could get with the decimal amount) but I ended up increasing the payments after a couple of months, talked to them about it via Facebook, and paid the layaway off a month early.

3. Once Peak's Woods has a moment to look over the order form and the layaway plan you've listed in the comment box of the checkout page, they create a page in the Layaway section (between the "Monthly Fairy" category and "Wigs" category) with your name (they'll use your first name if you didn't give a preferred name). :) The thumbnail image is usually the first item on your order form, depending on how many items you ordered. The page will have your unique order number in it, as well as the layaway terms you discussed. Peak's Woods will send you an email to confirm that everything in your specific layaway page looks correct, and then you can send the first payment via PayPal. They have a specific email that they take payments on and answer questions with, so be careful that you spell it correctly. Also, once you've decided to pay with PayPal, keep paying through PayPal! It overcomplicates things if you try to switch things up with credit card (Eximbay) in addition to PayPal. It doesn't make any difference within PayPal whether you pay by PayPal balance or PayPal credit card, just so long as you're just using PayPal.

4. Then, following your layaway plan (e.g. $100 every month), you keep making payments via PayPal, making sure to copy your order number into the comment field on PayPal so Peak's Woods can more easily see which layaway to associate the payment with. (I forgot this ONE TIME, but since I had only one order at the time, they were able to associate the payment no problem ^^;; ) Definitely try to remember to put the correct order number in each time! This is especially important if you have more than one layaway and you're making separate payments on each. As far as I know, they don't combine payments for separate orders. If your payment is early, it's usually not a problem so long as you let Peak's Woods know beforehand; if your payment is late, I don't think Peak's Woods sends reminder emails as a courtesy, so be careful to keep track of your own layaway plan. If you haven't made ANY payments within a stretch of three consecutive months during your layaway and there isn't explanation or contact from your side within that time, Peak's Woods will cancel your order and you'll forfeit any money you've already paid.

5. After Peak's Woods has a chance to confirm your PayPal payment, they mark the date that they received the payment on your layaway page, and send you a confirmation email to let you know if there were or weren't any problems. When you've paid the entire thing off, your specific layaway page will be marked with the label "Sold Out" or "Out of Stock" or something similar to note that it's paid in full. :) At that point, they'll confirm that the layaway is paid off and include a generic reminder as to how long the expected wait time for dolls of the type you ordered would be. Peak's Woods doesn't start making your doll until AFTER the layaway is paid in full; this is a little different from what their dealers do, but I think this is so they can make sure they don't waste resources or time on making something in case something happens and someone cancels their layaway partway through. In the case of a dealer layaway, from what I understand, the dealer will front the full cost for you to the company when they submit your order, and they have to have faith that you as the customer will fulfill the layaway payments. Another thing to note is that Peak's Woods usually doesn't update the order status even after the payments are all confirmed until they're ready to ship your order. I'm not entirely sure why this is, but as I understand it's pretty common practice with other companies as well, and Peak's Woods is pretty accommodating about updating it for your peace of mind if you ever get concerned. I sent them a note about my order earlier because I was having trouble with my account, and they handled it quite gracefully. :)

I hope this was really clear and that I didn't confuse anything else! :XD:

@stellarphenomena

Your little angel is really cute! :D Her gauzy dress looks so elegant! But I think she's the wrong size for this thread? ;)

10. PoeticSoul, ashoore and designedforsmiles thanks so much! That is great to know how everyone worked their own layaway and makes me more secure about it. This has been a slow month for me so is great to know I can change the value later and pay them quicker.

11. Thank you, @designedforsmiles @PoeticSoul and @ashooree! Your experiences are all very helpful! :daisy

WOW! I've visited PW's website on and off since entering the hobby six years ago (I originally considered Punky Beetle for my second doll) and I never noticed the Layaway section until now. That is so amazing, and a really fantastic idea. I wish more companies had a page like that!

Now I'm just waiting on pins and needles for PW to release more info about their Halloween beauties...

12. The dolls are up and will have only 3 month layaway :( I really sad. I sent them a message to ask if they will sell the heads separated or like before I can order just the head with the special skin, I hope they do because the body I can deal later on this case.

13. Oh phooey. Thanks for the info, @sadi-chan. They truly are beautiful girls.

I'm going to contact PW and see if there'd be willing to offer the normal KoonieS head (no fangs) in blue-grey skin, just in case I'm able to budget three months (doubtful, but still a chance).

14. @peppermintPocky you welcome :) trying to see if I can find a way too but unless Santa Claus show up with money I think the best bet is next time on another event when skins get available again.

15. I love the new sort of Monster High School feel to these girls, they are all so cute and well styled!

I asked them over email again, to see if maybe I could get a reply, but nothing yet. Can someone ask them on facebook about when they think FoB Dandies may come out please please please? I don't have a facebook...so it is a bit hard for me to ask :doh I mostly only ask because if they release a FoC Dandy in these cool colors...I may have a hard time resisting, and I would rather save money for FoB Dandy because I know I will want two automatically! :sweat

Thanks for the help in advance if anyone manages!

16. They have a quicker reply time on their inquire board, if you have an account just ask there and tonight you should be getting a reply :) not sure how quick they are on Facebook.

If not I can ask them when I get home.

Edit: the FOC should be coming for Christmas when I think about it.

17. This is for FoB Dandy rather, I just am worried I will cave and buy an FoC Dandy because I want a boy from them, I would prefer 1/4th size though! I will try the inquiry board though! Thanks

18. sadi-chan, if you have something in mind that's close to a 3-month lay-away, I'd contact them and ask them (via message or email). They probably have rules in place because they've had some cancellations in the past, and then didn't know what to do about them. Or, you could check with a dealer, and ask if they do lay-away. I know Denver Doll does (and they allow up to four months, I think), but I see you're in Brazil. If it's truly stopping you from getting a full doll, I'd at least try to check. They are pretty nice!

PeppermintPocky
, do you have a body to match the blue-grey skin? They do offer the bodies separately, but until recently at least, the suntan, lavender-pink and blue-grey were limited editions.

Artemos, I hadn't made the Monster High connection till you mentioned it--but you're totally right! I adore those new outfits--and Sadol makes amazing clothing. I want this one: http://peakswoods.net/shop/step1.php?number=2733&b_code=B20070905031344&c_code=C20070905031632

I adore all of the new girls--and I just added a second large Vampire (Vamp Briana) to my collection, so these girls would be such a cute addition! However, I can't do it this time, because I JUST ordered a lavender pink Mia (with an extra romantic Mia head) and a white skin Romantic KoonieS. I cannot WAIT to see if what you guys decide to order, though.
