Pear Shaped Trend....how do you feel?

Dec 21, 2011

    1. Honestly, I don't like it. I don't like my own pear-shaped body, even if it's slight. :sweat I prefer slender dolls. But to each their own.

    2. I don't tend to like it. But who knows, I hated paprika three years ago and now I can't live without it. I have to admit that sometimes i fell attracted towards the Mikhaila, that shape is so weird but at the same time cute. Anyway I still prefer more proporcionated bodies.

    3. I love looking at them, they're a bit different and fun. I'm not sure if I'll ever own one (I learned never say never in this hobby) because I tend to think some of these bodies look strange clothed, I'd probably want to keep them naked or in sheer, floaty dresses XD

    4. I'm not opposed to pear-shaped dolls, I've seen some that have looked lovely, but they're probably not something I'd own. When the body starts to get too exaggerated, then I get less interested (but I can totally see why people like the extreme proportions!). I think Leeke World's Mikhaila is really, in my opinion, the perfect pear shape. Not too slender/alien-looking (Doll Chateau's sculpts are very alien-looking to me, but again, not a bad thing, just personal opinion). Mikhaila and, as well, Dust of Doll's sculpts, are both pear shapes I prefer, if I really had to choose, haha.

    5. I have an Aoi Tuki and, in my view, she has a very lovely aesthetic of a woman, with larger hips and legs, and nicely proportioned from head to toe. She photographs very well :)

    6. personnaly, I really love pear shaped body. I have a doll chateau agnes and her body is sooo beautiful I also want a Leeke Mikhaila but I didn't find one yet...XD

    7. Love, love, love! I have two CK Iracebeth's, a Leeke Ashley, two DC Bella's, and am crossing my fingers for a Lilycat Cerisedoll Manon! I love the tiny bust and big hips, it's so different!! :).

    8. I think they look more amazing than the normal bodies. In my opinion t gives something characteristic to the doll. I really like the Doll Chateau body, it's so amazingly curved and am planning to buy one soon!

    9. I don't mind pear shaped when they're clothed, they just look really really strange to me when nude. Leeke Mikhalia is a perfect example of what I mean by that. I even want a Mikhalia someday but I get the feeling that I'll not want to change her outfits very often XD

I prefer the hourglass shape just because it doesn't have to look so crazy when the doll's nude.

    10. I like pear-shaped dolls, but not all of them, I like Doll Shateau and LeekeWorld Mikhaila, they are so cute and unusual. But I not shore wath I want to buy it yourself ever.

    11. I think the exaggerated pear shape only works on a few dolls. I thought it was unattractive on the Doll Chateau bodies at first, but now I have one Youth SD on preorder, so it obviously grew on me. They do look terrible in pants in many pics I've seen, but when the leg joints are spaced so far apart on the hips, it makes for some really interesting silhouettes and poses. Maybe only skirts or really low slung pants would look good on the bodies.

    12. It kind of grosses me out. Especially the Doll Chateaus.

    13. I'm not too big of a fan of it personally, but as a few people said, if the chest size was a bit bigger to make it more proportionate, it probably would be a bit more appealing to me. Regardless, I do know people who do like that kind of thing and while it may not be my cup of tea, I think it's good to see other types of doll bodies being done. It helps make doll families a bit more varied even for people who may just stick to one company or size.

    14. I adore pear-shaped bodies. I favor exaggerated proportions, small busts, and creepy dolls (I don't deny that they are often creepy), so it's perfect. Also, because of the wider hips, my girl's thighs look like mine (she has a Dollzone Anson body), which makes me really happy.

    15. I'm all for variety of dolls shapes and sizes. I don't mind ^^

    16. I think it's fun that BJDs come in all shapes and sizes - like all of the people in our world. It can be a bit tricky finding clothes for them, though.

    17. I don't care for any of the pear shaped bodies I have yet seen, though I appreciate the variance in body shape. I would like them much more if they actually looked like realistic pear shaped human bodies. The female bodies I have seen with wide hips have either a completely flat chest, like a child (and young girls just don't HAVE hips that wide), or... other details which make each part of the body look like it is meant for a different aged character. Some bodies even have ribs seriously protruding, and gaunt ribcage and swollen stomach are signs of starvation, giving me the creeps when I see them in a doll.

    18. Generally speaking, I don't have a problem with companies casting pear-shaped bodies, because that's the kind of aesthetic some collectors are going for and companies are probably trying to do things their customers want. Plus, it adds more variety to the numerous dolls out there.

Personally, though, I don't like the exaggerated pear-shaped bodies. I personally find them unattractive, but that is just my opinon, and I respect that other peole love them.

    19. I completely agree with this, but then, my type of doll has always been younger and cuter, not older. The odd shapes don't bother me, I just don't like them. The ones that bother me are the ones that are very sexualized. Perhaps though it just bothers me to have a doll with a better body than my own, lol!!!

    20. I wonder if we'll see apple-shaped doll bodies soon? That's the hardest shape to dress I think...but would be interesting.
