Pear Shaped Trend....how do you feel?

Dec 21, 2011

    1. ive seen some that i like but i wouldnt invest in one for myself. the same way im not down for an enormous bust size im not hyped for a wide butt either.

    2. I really don't like them.
I like realistically proportioned dolls best. My Iplehouse J.I.D. girl's got quite wide hips, but the rest of her is all in proportion, and she's got a nice body shape.
Personally, I just think they look weird. No offence :sweat

    3. There's certainly a lot of exaggeration of figure in dolls in general (ridiculously large busts, ridiculously muscular or waifish bodies, ridiculously large eyes, etc), so I don't see anything wrong with having an exaggerated pear-shaped figure, as well. Personally, I think it's refreshing to see more variety of body shapes! I'd like to branch out a few of my bodies to have some different structures to my dolls, and seeing all the variations in shape, size, height, and so on is inspirational toward doing that. There's a few of the pear-shaped bodies I'm even thinking of getting, personally, they're just so cute!

    4. I've seen pictures, but I don't like them. This hobby is all about different tastes, so there's bound to be some that I'm not a fan of. I've never seen one in person though. Maybe my mind would change if I saw them in person.

    5. Not really feeling it probably because I go towards female doll bodies that reassemble my body type more ( slender model ,hourglass-ish)

    6. Everyone's personal aesthetic is different. Many of us buy dolls that represent that personal ideal. I prefer a more hourglass shaped body or one with more emphasis on the bust rather than the hips. However I do see the appeal of the more bottom-heavy girls and know that there is definitely a market for them. It's good to have variety.

    7. I happen to really like the pear-shape. It makes the doll stand out more and adds such a nice twist to the "perfect" doll. It strikes me as being imaginative. It kind of reminds me of something Tim Burton would use. Something creepy and eccentric. If I were to own a doll like this, that's exactly how I would have it. One day maybe.

But to each their own, I guess.

    8. I really like them ^^ I also draw pearshaped girls even in my drawings. I think pearshaped dolls are beautiful. Well I guess it depends on personal taste really ~

    9. I love them! I really like dolls that play with proportions. I guess I'm of the mindset that, if I want to look at a normal shaped person.. I'll just go outside and look at real people. Why spend money on something average when you can have something really unique? I mean I think all bjds are beautiful in their own way but I'm a fan of the weird ones. They also kind of remind me of Brian Froud's faery artwork. :3

    10. I like that there has come more choice variety to dolls. Some of molds I do like, but some are too much.

    11. at first I didnt like them at all. not my style. I love the hour glass shaped women with big boobies. but when I saw the leekeworld mia, I had a change of heart. at first i didnt like her. her head was too big, her hips too big and her thighs looked so weird. they looked like thigh high boots with feet attached. I also didn't like how her hips where not jointed, and how small her chest was. but over the next few days she stuck to me and I found my self looking at her more and more. over coming the objections that I had first thought of her. Now I am in love with her and am planning to buy her next month when I get some money. the hips/thigh joints still bother me a little bit, but when I think about it shes beautiful and when shes wearing clothing you wont notice it. I also love that uniqueness about her. :D

    12. Since I don't see BJDs as "women" as such, but art representation of the human body (like any piece of art through history) I think it is absolutely wonderful that the artists are now experimenting! The more variety, the more bodies that is remade in resin, the better in my opinion! I would love to own such a doll, they'd be absolutely adorable in little dresses :aheartbea

    13. They're personally not to my tastes at all -- but I'm sure there's dolls I love that others don't, too. c: I'd like to think they're the start of an eventual wide variety of body types and shapes.

    14. I really like them! I also like that artists are experimenting more with the representations they make of the human body, it offers a lot more variety to the hobby, I think. I also like to play with them and pose them, the pear shape makes for a nice weight distribution, they sit so well in your hands, they give you something to hold onto...yes, I'm certainly a fan :)

    15. I still prefer a normal proportion doll. Enormous bust and wide hip just aren't my cup of tea.
And yea, unusual proportion doll will be harder to get costumes and dress.

    16. I'm glad to see such interesting things are being experimented with, but I probably wouldn't buy most of the pear shaped ones I tend to see. Leekeworld's Mikhaila and others now on that body I'm not a fan of. However, the Doll Chateau pear bodies I find myself oddly drawn to. However, whether or not I'd actually buy one is still indefinite. I hated the DC bodies at first, but they're really growing on me.

    17. I love them! I call them my big-bottom girls, haha. I have Leekeworld's Florence and Mikhaila, and Valentina is on layaway. They are hard to pose and my Florence never wears her head-cap bc her head is so heavy. But like everyone else has said...to each their own. There are definitely some more "realistic" dolls that I do not care for but I can appreciate the aesthetic.

    18. I tend to look past them. It's not that I like or dislike them, I am just indifferent. They really do nothing for me. *_*

    19. I've got to say that the oddly shaped dolls I don't like, such as pear shaped... But that's my own opinion and we all have different likes and dislikes. ^^

    20. They are not for me. Maybe that makes me less creative and more traditional, but there is room for many different opinions out there. I kind of go towards the baby/child look anyway.
