Pear Shaped Trend....how do you feel?

Dec 21, 2011

    1. I'm really fond of them! They tend to stand out more to me, when I see one. So few things reflect big hips as a positive feature, so its nice to see some representation, even if it is exaggerated.

    2. Let a hundred flowers bloom! ...and let's see DOD try to sue them all.

    3. I actually like the pear-shaped body type, and I like most dolls that posses it, even if it's really over the top. Like Leekeworld's art body, I find it really pretty, but maybe it's still a bit too much for me to actually want to own. I'd like a more realistic pear-shaped doll though!

    4. I think they are cute on fantasy figures, or kids, etc.
      Not my style, but cute.
I have more of an issue with some of the extremely thin dolls that I have seen in the bjd world.

    5. I love them! I think pear shaped bodies are so cute! I'd love a leekeworld art body but I have no idea what head I'd put on it

    6. I actually really like the pear shape. Especially doll chateau's bigger doll bodies, I don't really like many of their doll heads but their pear bodies are pretty cool. I wouldn't get more than one doll with that type of body but they are at least something different. For me the best ones are the ones that are subtle though, like some of dollzone's girl bodies has that slight curve.

    7. I adore pear shaped bodies, that's how I draw most of my characters too so it makes bring a character to life easier. I've found though that the doll chateau body is a bit too much for me, I like my pears more compact and short like lilycats, my doll chateau feels like she got stretched out. I think I like the sturdiness

    8. I love them. The Leekeworld Nicole on the art body was the first bjd I saw that I wanted to buy, and it was her little chub thighs and that little face that sold me. I'd like all my dolls to have different bodies, though it seems there's only four kinds at the moment. And, I like having at least one doll with my body type!

    9. They scare me. Not the Iple ladies, but the exaggerated ones, like the Doll Chateaus. The only thing scarier than eerie twiggy things are eerie twiggy things with pear shaped hips :o

    10. I hate the overly exaggerated pear shaped bodies... They just are very unappealing to me when unclothed. It reminds me of how wide my hips are-- I don't want to subject a doll to that.

    11. I find pear shaped dolls cute! I like the way of "over sculpting" I mean like playing with the body shapes. I think dolls don't need to be that realistic. :3nodding: (though I don't find overly thin dolls good looking, my opinions are so mixed :abambi:)

    12. I really like them on fantasy dolls, but some of the more realistic ones can go into the uncanny valley. Like I love how the Leek World art body looks clothed and how thick the legs are, but the transition from chest to hips seems really odd to me. The DC dolls are just delightfully over the top though, like someone's interpretation of a dark fantasy fae.
I think bunny anthro sculpts pull it off the best though, like lilycat's loo dolls. The exaggeration plays off well with the idea of a bunny's powerful hind legs for jumping.

    13. Personally, I like it. I happen to have a pear shaped body myself. Haha! I like hips. But I can see how it's not liked. I would imagine that it makes it difficult to find clothes to fit that particular shape.

    14. When I first saw them (first one I saw was the Leeke art body) I totally loved the idea. But honestly I've been seeing so many crop up that it has really bored me. At first it was like, oh it's unique and interesting! But now it doesn't seem unique anymore, it's common.
And like some others have said, when I think pear-shaped, I'm not meaning a realistic pear-shape - I mean a very exaggerated shape where the hip-to-waist ratio is physically impossible.

    15. I do not care for the exaggerated pear shape. I prefer very, very realistic dolls.

    16. Personally, I'm not a fan of the pear-shape trend. I can see why a lot of doll collectors like the cutesy look, but I can't see my characters having a body that shape as I go for a realistic look.

    17. Im not a huge fan of them but their faces are beautiful. I guess the artists wanted to create something unique for the people in this hobby. Sure they are beautiful but i dont think im adding any of them in my collection.

    18. It really depends, i nmy opinion. I like them on doll chateau, but for example, I am not really fan of leeke mikhaila. But I am not sure if it's just because the body, or is it because her face is not generally my cup of tea. It also depends how much "peary" it is. For example Cerisedolls - they all are pear shaped, with very slim chests and wide hips, and I like most of them, but cartoon body is just too much for me. But I don't hate them or something like that - every doll can be beautiful, when her/his owner cares about them and their look. :)

    19. I think pear shaped bodies are neat and really cute! But I'm not a fan of really exaggerated ones like Leeke Art bodies and especially when the character is supposed to be human. I really like Doll Chateau's and Doll Zone's bodies though. I don't know why, but small chested girl dolls are my cup of tea. Maybe it's because I can relate?

    20. I personally don't find it attractive and feel that it takes away from the doll in most cases I have seen.
