1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

People misspelling your doll names

Aug 9, 2011

    1. Yeah, sometime happens ~
But I chose strange name for my dolls, so XD
      Hiden = Hyden
Eivan = Evian (Evian is a brand of water here in Switzerland, lol >_>)

    2. LOL at Evian. Here they also import it in Indonesia XD

In my case, my dolls are named after the same letters, rather than misspelled, people find it difficult to remember which one's who.
      Rion, Noir, Orin

For Aaron (Aro), my mom always call him wrongly. Aron or sometimes Aren (aren means red sugar used for cooking in my language so it sounds quite hilarious)

The only one that doesn't called wrongly is Naoya XD

    3. I am sorry for double post..

    4. Oddly enough I've never come across anybody who's spelt Cesavier [ces-a-veer] or Seraphine [se-ra-fin] wrong before. I think they're such unusual names that people pause over them, which leads them to making an effort to spell them right. My own full name gets spelt incorrectly even by English teachers... it's a foreign spelling of what could also be classed as an English name and people often try to 'correct' me on it ("oh, you've added an extra L!" <--- grrr!).

    5. No one has ever spelled Mila wrong since its so simple. But MiDong maybe. Because its a Korean name, there is a bit of confusion ^^"

      MiDung, MeDong, continued....

    6. hhha most people decide to call my Niseag only "cuttie". I can´t blame them because Niseag is a tricky name. But i hate that one of my friends can´t remember my boys names while i have no problems with hers. Maybe it´s because Orpheus, Niseag, Marius and Dariusz names she doesen´t like....

    7. Some people have misspelled kyoshi's name for kiyoshi or kioshi, and most people misspell my name too. I don't really mind, I even have a customer who calls in everyday and never gets my name right. He calls me Jocelyn instead of Jazmin and I don't correct him anymore, kind of got used to it xD

    8. Lolz, I wouldn't care. People sometimes say my name wrong in real life so I'm kinda used to it. ;)

    9. Seeing as he hasn't officially "debuted" yet I haven't gotten anyone misspelling his name, but my sister already has told me she doesn't like how I spell it :S Evren Dorminy is his name, but she wants it to be spelled Everen. Unfortunately, that leaves people thinking it's pronounced EVE-rehn when it's really EHV-rehn.

I expect a lot of misspellings, but that's what's to be expected with oddish names.

    10. I have a habit of not reading a name all the way through, especially if it's long and weird and has tons of syllables and the pronunciation isn't immediately apparent. For example, I've been a fan of the webcomic drowtales for quite some time, but I still have to look up the full names of the clans and most of the main characters, because once I see an apostrophe, my brain skips the rest of the word (for instance when I see kyorl'solenurn my brain reads kyorl'dlksjflksaj).

I do the same thing with other people's characters sometimes, unless I'm very familiar with them, so what I tend to do is copy and paste names that throw me. XD That said, I misspelled my friend's chara Akos's name as Akros for about ten pages worth of rp before she finally brought my attention to it.

Oh well. I try to make my names not too difficult for people and I try not to get other peoples' charas and dolls' names wrong. My doll's name is Ashera, which I think is pretty easy. The doll I'm waiting on is going to be Eyvander, which is harder, but it can be shortened to Van or Vander.

    11. people dont even spell my name right so im not really fussed

    12. I have to agree, people have never spelled nor pronounced my name correctly. So, it tends to go over my head...

      But, yeah..it happens.

Koriel - people just tend to just call Kori or Steve. But, I've gotten Corielle. Which is just odd. Looks rather feminine.
Stiabhan (Koriel's 'real' name) - People don't realize it's pronounced Stephan. It's rather funny. Also! Since posting this I've noticed my phone tries to auto correct it to Stiaphan...really phone? Really?
Estalia Dimitru - Pronounced Es-stall-iah Gets Estella...even her nickname which is Estar tends to get misspelled as Ester. And for some reason I've been asked if her last name is suppose to be Dimitri. >.< Nope, that 'u' is most definitely suppose to be there, lol.

I guess I just like odd names. So it's probably my fault.

I don't think I've ever spelled someone's doll's name incorrectly myself. Though, I've been known to think I have. I'm also good at mixing up names unintentionally.

    13. I have some people misspell "Corby" as "Corbi". To me it makes sense since the name can be a short name for "Corbin". I don't really care myself. I picked the y instead of i because I thought it was easier to spell.

    14. I don't use my dolls' names that often online. I prefer to use company molds' names and I also prefer reading company molds' names (especially in general discussion and the like). It's less confusing when talking about specific dolls or a specific company and you don't get the who-was-this-again-problem. Because often people don't have a signature explaining who they're talking about. =_=

In non-forum talks I prefer using their names. There I just use their company molds' names when talking about companies or comparing them. Their names are also not that hard. People didn't get them wrong, yet. But that could also just be my surroundings. ^^

    15. Lol I swear sometimes they do it on purpose to annoy me. :| My friend calls my Louis "Louise" cause I said he was French, but the spelling is the same in English. And also even though I typed "Myles" several times, he sometimes gets referred to as "Miles" ... idk. :S

    16. I haven't really experienced too many issues with people spelling my dolls' names wrong, but then again, my dolls don't have complicated names. Probably the hardest one of mine to spell is Andromeda (nicknamed Rommie), but ironically it's "Michael" that people commonly misspell. I don't really mind, though. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference. The only way I'd have a problem with misspellings is if I ordered something personalized and the name got misspelled.

    17. It doesn't bother me too much; the only doll name people tend to misspell of mine is Leonel's, writing it as 'Lionel'. I suppose that's really my own fault, though: his name was originally going to be spelled as Lionel, but I thought it would be pronounced "lee-oh-nell". When I found out it was actually pronounced "lie-nell", I changed it to the current spelling because I liked the three syllables better. When people misspell it as Lionel, I'm just reminded of how awkward I am :XD:

    18. lol'd for real.

As for me, if I was really worried about people always spelling my dolls' names correctly, I'd name them all Bob or Jo. As it is, I don't recall having this happen to me yet, but I wouldn't really be bothered if it did. Some of them have complicated names and it comes with the territory.

    19. Doesn't bother me, I have so many people around me who are more or less dyslectic so I'm used to it. I will correct them, as subtly as I can, the first time it happens, if it keeps happening I try harder, and if it doesn't work at all, I just give up... on occasion I've even changed the spelling if enough people have made the exact same mistake, figuring that if that many people think my spelling doesn't make sense, then I guess it doesn't ;)

    20. Yes it does happen, But as long as the person trying to spell the name is actually saying something nice about my dolls I don't really mind.
I do mind when their comment is already offensive AND they spell a name wrong, then its just adding insult to injury.

Other than that I just blame myself for it ;) after all I gave the doll that seemingly unspellable name.

The one Doll name in my collection everyone always spells and pronounces wrong is Cychwynn, but I can forgive that :D
