1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

PlanetDoll Mini Riz 27cm discussion part 3

Jul 23, 2011

    1. Congrats on the arrival of your Elf Renee! he's on my wishlist too along with Dandy and Tara. I'm thinking that if i place an order with Planet Doll during the current event; I'll choose one of the other heads so that 2 of the girls or boys can body share for a while.

Style for my Riz is easy(ish) She's either in current every day tweenage clothing. Or she's dress to the 9 in futuristic type court clothing. In my stories, she's the Crown Princess, daughter of the Empress and Her Consort, and presumed Heir to the Thrown of the Elusyan Empire. :) So she gets to wear all kinds of cool things.

      Hugs,
      ~Sonya~

    2. If you like patterns-check out CC Originals-she has some wonderful patterns and one of the sizes she carrries ar Little Miss Revlon-just use the drop down menu for the sizes

    3. Thank you, again, Richila. I'll look at the site a little more tomorrow to see if something there will work. What I would *really* love is if I could find a pattern in this size with a mid to late 16th century Florentine flavor....that's my favorite era and what I research and sew in the SCA. I think I'm going to end up having to draft the pattern for Riz, but I already have a suitable base pattern for her mother's gown.

The court clothing for Riz (as a princess) and her mother (as the Empress) will be based on that region and time but will have a little futuristic twist thrown in. Nothing too over the top, but definitely not something that would be found in the wardrobe of Eleanor de Toledo or any of the ladies of the time. :) There is a portrait that I absolutely adore of Lucrezia de' Medici and I would really like to do something like that for Riz, but in that tiny scale it would be tricky. Fun...but tricky. And on that note; I'll stop rambling about historical clothing. I could happily talk about that, archery and jewelry making right along with all things doll related for *days*. :)

      Hugs,
      ~Sonya~

    4. LOL Another SCA person here-Kingdom of Ansteorra, I tend to favor 16th century Spanish or Arabic & Persian. I made a Persian coat for one of my PD girls and a Pirate outfit for another.

Check these out-they are hand drawn and for Barbie, but easily adaptable if you sew and she has done historic gowns as well as fantasy.

    5. Lol. I *knew* I couldn't possibly be the only SCAdian on DoA. Well, greetings, M'Lady, from the glorious (and wet) Kingdom Of An Tir. :)Ooooh... I can *totally* understand a love of 16th century Spanish. I've done my fair share of drooling over Spanish portraits of that time. (sigh) Actually..I've done my fair of drooling over *lots* of 16th century portraits from all over the map. :) My DH favors clothing from the court of Suleiman the Magnificent, so getting ready for 12th Night (when it's local-ish) is always a feast for the eyes with my books spread out and pictures up on my computer. (happy sigh)

Thank you for the link! I've got some free time for a little bit, so I'm gonna go check it out as soon as I finish reading the latest posts in my subscribed threads. I'm finding that Barbie pieces are fitting Riz nicely, so tweaking patterns for her might be the easiest way to go.

      Have a fabulous day!

    6. I purchased glass eyes for Riz and Renee. One set fit Riz, the others didn't fit Renee. All 8mm. Weird!

Does anyone have glass eye recommendations?

    7. I think I'll be modding the tail and making her either a milk snake or a coral snake instead of a mermaid. The more I think about it, the more I'd rather have a naga than a mermaid. When she FINALLY COMES IN. Pft. *is too impatient*

    8. I'd be interested in recommendations too. I've got 4 sets of 8mm eyes for my Riz, from 3 different places and they all fit a little differently. 3 sets are glass (2 from MyBayer2008 on E-bay and one are the defaults that came with her) and 1 set is acrylic which I purchased from Mimiwoo on E-bay. All were round. :)

I plan to adopt a Renee at some point, so I'm wondering how the fit of the eyes is on her. Are they too small for the sockets or...???

      Hugs,
      ~Sonya~

    9. Just checked the eyes that Riz is wearing and they are too large for Renee also. So all three pair of glass 8mm eyes are too big for Renee.

I haven't tried the other two on Riz yet.

The acrylic eyes they have in 8mm fit.

    10. Oops. I just double checked the Planet Doll description, so she's got 2 pairs of acrylics and two pairs of glass. I'm checking the Mimiwoo acrylics right now.

    11. So I quick fitted all 4 pairs and they all fit about the same. I don't have any other sizes of eyes here to be able to see if anything smaller (if there is anything smaller) or if a larger size would fit better. The irises on the glass ayes are more domed than the irises on the acrylic eyes, but that doesn't seem to be causing a problem with how well the sit in the eyes holes.

I was just looking at pictures of some PD minis that other collectors have and the eyes I have are sitting in roughly the same place as the eyes in the pics. If I wanted more white to show around the lower edge of the eyes; I'd definitely need 6mm eyes, though.

    16. Love your set up, Richila. :)The only Xmas pics I took were with my phone, so I should tke a few more before I put all the decorations away. Riz is still faceless, but I can't let her first holiday pass without at least one good family pic. :)

      Hugs,

    17. What a wonderful shot, Skyeyze. Your girls look great and I love their little outfits.

    18. Thank you Sonya!
Testing a different camera. Not sure what I think yet!

    19. I got a new camera for Xmas and I'm still trying to get use to it. I like the additional features, but it's larger than my old camera, so it just feels different. I've liked the shots I've taken so far without getting into changing the settings, so I think it'll be loads of fun once I'm more familiar with it.

Good luck with getting acquainted with yours. :)

      Hugs,

    20. Where are the boots from if you don't mind my asking?

Still awaiting the arrival of my mini-mermaid!
