1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. I didn't vote since my situation doesn't quite match any of the choices perfectly :XD: Right now, I technically have ... six floating heads. But! Three of those heads are different expressions of the same character, so I consider those extensions of him and not actually floaters. Similarly, another head is an extra head of another doll I intend to do my own faceup on because I didn't want to wipe the company faceup on the original doll :sweat Another is practice head that will likely never have his own body, and finally, the last head is going to be a full doll at some point, and I have already chosen a body for her, but I can't afford it right now :abambi:

    2. I did this too  I usually purchase blank dolls so I get do the faceup but sprung for the Minifee Dina fullset. Once she was here I just couldn't fathom wiping such a pretty face. Now I have two extra Dina's :sweat

    3. Yes! :XD: He was my first doll so I wanted him all pretty from the start. Now that I know I can do faceups I think I will continue to order only blank in the future. I also forgot to mention I plan on doing some mod work as well (elf ears!), so a blank head is ideal for that. Definitely don't want to risk ruining my nice faceup'd head if the modding goes icky :XD:

    4. I always want to body share but I always end up picking heads in different resin tones or in different sizes and I have no other option than to get a body for them:lol:
If the resin/proportions matched then I would for sure do sharing since it saves space and I don't have much of it. So I'm ok with body sharing but so far it hasn't happened and they all have their own ones.

    5. I currently have 1 head that I'm using to practice face-ups with, but if I can ever get a face-up that I'm happy with I intend to get a body for it. I like being able to display all of my dolls at once.

    6. I never wanted to have a ton of floating heads. Always prefer to have bodies for every head. But at one point I started justifying body sharing which was fine for a time. But then more heads started getting acquired. Oh, I can't afford that full doll I love but the head is much more in my price range? They can share a body with these other two! And is that the head of a sculpt I've been looking for on the secondhand market? I may never find a full one, so head for now! An artist only makes heads? They can share a body too! I now have heads that I don't even have bodies for. I just counted and there are 17 floating heads in my bin. Whoops. :abambi:

    7. I've got different expressions for my IOS 80cm boy. I bought lacrimosa to be his default face and then I picked up Infernale for fun. I also got A1 ordered from them....so he might get another expression from that head.

    8. I once got a head to share with another head's body. I swapped the heads and got instant sympathetic body dysmorphia. No sharing here since then; if they haven't gotten their body in yet, they go in careful storage.

    9. I only have a single floating head. I don't consider it one of my dolls because it was given to me to practice doing face ups on. I consider it more of a tool than a doll though; thus, I voted no floating heads here.

    10. I have one like that as well! She is mangled, the poor thing. I was using her for dye experiments. So I don't really count her either. Maybe one day if I fix her up right. :sweat

    11. I started out in the some heads share a body category as it made sense to save money & space and be be able to switch things up when I get bored. Over the years i've ended up with more complete dolls as I didn't want to limit myself to just the companies that offer heads separately! :sweat

If you don't mind me stealing the question, now you've asked it, I've realised that's what I do! My most personal dolls who are based on my favorite own OCs have their own bodies and don't share as I tend to have those dolls on display all the time. The doll I bought because I loved the way they looked are more likely to be body sharers and get swapped round. I quite like the variety of having some dolls that are fixed in the way they look and some dolls that I can change up without the limitation of a set character. :XD:

    12. I had one floating head that I couldn't decide on a body for. I ended up selling the head because hiding it away isn't my closet wasn't very fun. Other than that every head is attached to their own body and no one shares. My main enjoyment of my dolls is having them all out on display where I can see and play/fiddle with them. I guess I'm not meant to have any floating heads!

    13. No body-snatching allowed over here. It would drive me absolutely bananas... So, yeah. Full dolls only for this gang.

    14. I entered this hobby with the plan to keep the number of bodies down and buy heads for additional characters due to space limitations (I'm a city dweller in a small place). I have 15 "complete" dolls and 13 floating heads. I rotate heads regularly to give everyone time out of their head box and scratch that I Need a New Doll Itch. When that doesn't work, I stalk the Marketplace and pick-up a new head. I'm loving old Volks sculpts lately and picked up some lovely, discontinued sculpts.

    15. I voted "no floaters" because my MNFs have shown me that sharing is just not a thing that's going to happen around here!

I got a 2nd MNF head with the original intention of them sharing a body, and then they got the idea of being friends and ... well, let's face it, that works a bit better with more than one body! (And then the crazy thing is that the body I found for the 2nd head matches so well they look like they were together from the beginning!)

    16. I feel like I really should have my dolls share bodies with how many full dolls are sitting around my home, but floating heads drive me crazy. I have a hard enough time mustering the energy to change my dolls' clothes! My solution is to try and not accumulate floating heads, and the ones I do have get shoved in boxes so I can try to forget they're there. :sweat

    17. I have 4 full dolls, and 1 floating head. The floating head is the human aspect of one of my anthro boys, and he was never intended to have a body. But I feel bad for him just sitting there on his lonesome, so eventually....lol.

    18. Currently I got two floating heads, hopefully in the future will get them bodies. I don't really like the idea of floating heads sitting around my room, but at the same time, there's only so much space for dolls. >__<

    19. So. I started life in the Every Head Must Have a Body! category. I also started life in the "SDs are TOO BIG" category, and now, I pretty much exclusively buy Big Girls. The bigger, the better.
So... yeah. All the bodies are swappable now. I am still obsessed with hybrids (I don't necessarily recommend it, but I still do it), and I have a sock organizer with floating heads. I am actually trying to pare down the bodies and just have heads. Big girls take up a lot of space, yo. Plus, I'll order from, oh, say, Impldoll, and they throw in an extra head for free, and I'm like ARGH! NO! Another head! (I'm kidding. I would NEVER turn down a free gift in this hobby!)
The end goal is to have a series of floating heads and a few bodies they match. Then I can just carry one body and multiple heads for picture time.
