1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

PpoPpo discussion

Sep 25, 2007

    1. I can't access the page to see the new girl???

    2. I've pm'd you Ashley :) I had Ppoppo and sold her and out of all the dolls I have bought and sold, she is one that I do miss. I aim to get another one day soon, and meanwhile I am really enjoying looking at the pics on this thread

    3. the mods deleted my thread about the new girl Nabiya. This is what they wrote me, "We no longer have an artist's section for this forum and your post cannot be made on DoA."...that's why I'm suggesting anyone interested in future dolls, should send me email request to be put on mailing list. I will not post any more about Nabiya after today....until she's ready. Anyway, she's looking more like grown up PpoPpo now...here's what I have so far. She can be PpoPpo's sister.
my initial design....but still in process of changing thingsd...

    4. Amira Rose boiled them in hot water...so the resin was soft and was able to mold.

She also widened Nuri's wrists inside and trimmed the arm that was overlapping over the wrist. Then she wired her and put in S hooks so that Nuri's hands would turn and bend.

    5. wow, I can't believe just boiling the resin will work! That's something new...great idea!

    6. On the Bobobie Isabella/March thread some people have just dipped their hands in boiling water and molded them into a nicer shape. I think I would be a bit too scared to try though!!

    7. I wasn't able to do it...I was told I wasn't doing it long enough but it was scaring me. I didn't have a toaster oven i could devote to my dolls and it didn't make sense. My embossing heat tool was at home so I couldn't use it either.

ETA: You'll be happy to know I decided not to sell my PpoPpo...things have been going okay enough that I don't need to sell her.

Today I gave her a full alcohol and Magic Eraser bath and she looks awesome...Next I'll hot glue suede her torso and neck, redo her tattoo, and give her her mani/pedi and she'll be like new!

    8. Reine, I'm not familiar with how alcohol is used on BJDs. Is rubbing alcohol a good cleaning agent? Does it remove the faceup? So happy to hear you don't need to sell your PpoPpo - she is so adorable in your photos.

    9. I didn't use the alcohol on her face.

Yes it is a very good cleaning agent and does not damage the resin

    10. sounds like a full day of spa treatment! Nuri's a lucky girl!

    11. Well she's been through a lot for one doll! So much surgery...

    12. Rubbing alcohol is not very effective, get medical grade 99% instead, that will remove all traces of paint. In conjunction with a Magic Eraser sponge there is nothing you shouldn't be able to get off.
I LOVE Nabiya! Very excited for her debut, I hope I have a job by then! (It's not the economy, I work in a business where I get to look for work a few times a year. So much fun)

    13. I've used 100% acetone,..the kind you use to take off nail polish off of fake nails. It hasn't damaged any of my dolls so far, even the ones I've had for many years. I thought most people used this to take off faceups.

    14. I don't like using acetone, I had to for many years at work because we didn't have a better alternative for dissolving and removing glues and other adhesives. Acetone is very toxic, it goes right through your skin to your liver. If you want to demonstrate for yourself how strong it is, put some in a styrofoam cup, it eats right through the bottom. For this reason I like the 99% Alcohol, it has the same removal properties without the skull and crossbones effect.
You can also use grain alcohol, the one that can be added (if you were desperate I guess) to drinks, like punch.

    15. Can you get medical grade alcohol? Unless it's for hardcore sterilization they use 3% like everything else (esp if it's going to be touching your skin)

Acetone...if not rinsed properly...CAN damage resin

    16. Poor Nuri!

I was playing with her yesterday and noticed her knees don't line up anymore...the left is so bad i'm noticing the resin's been gouged and is wearing away!

I took a self adhesive bandage and wrapped her leg up :D until I can get it fixed.

    17. Aww! Poor lil thing. I think it's great that you play with her so much though!

    18. What can I say? I love my dolls!
