Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. I definitely prefer the girls! It's all I have out of 6 dolls. I want boy dolls, at least one, but I don't like girly-boys (for myself, I can admire them under other owners). I want masculine men, but my problem is that I like cutsey less realistic girls. So they don't look good together at all.
There are a few guys who might work, but I just haven't fallen in love with any of their faces yet. So until I do I'll just enjoy my girls :)

    2. I tend to prefer the female dolls personally. I'm really picky and I've noticed most male dolls are either the kind that are supposed to be "hot and sexy" or "innocent and cute"--neither of which are my taste for a male doll. Or they end up looking really feminine and then I guess I'd rather just get a female doll.

    3. I don't think I consiously like girl dolls better than boy dolls, but I only own two boy dolls at the moment, with one more in progress and one more on my wishlist. On the other hand, I currently own five girl dolls, with three in progress, one on the way, and one on my wishlist. That's 4:10, or 2:5.

I think part of it is just that I don't have as many male characters that I want to turn into dolls, and there also aren't that many male sculpts that I absolutely must have. (Nor are there any female sculpts I want to hybrid into men.) Actually, one of my boys is a YoSD, so he's adorable and could be mistaken for a tomboyish girl. (Plus his name is April, so he gets that a lot more than he should... OTL ) And my guy-in-the-making has a skull for a head, so I guess there's really only TWO sculpts with (relatively) masculine facial features that fit my characters!

I know a lot of people find it easier\more fun to dress girl dolls than boy dolls, but part of the fun with boy dolls is the challenge of finding GOOD, high-quality, in-character clothing and shoes. Plus they tend to be less picky about what they'll wear than most of my girls, who all have their own styles and pretty much refuse to share clothing. (And they won't be ABLE to share shoes, since most of them either have EXTREMELY different styles or just differently sized feet. Ugh. )

Having said all that, I do feel that the girls can be more versatile, and being completely honest, I just love the female figure. I really don't think I prefer either gender, I just happen to have more girls at the moment.

    4. I prefer boys than girls. All of my doll is a male. I think the reason is I like boy's outfit.

    5. I ideally want a mixed collection, with both guys and girls. However, I've noticed that I'm definitely more fussy about my male sculpts than my female ones. It seems it's a lot easier to make a girl I'll find beautiful than to make a boy I'll find handsome :sweat

    6. I definitley prefer male dolls. I'm happy to just have one girl; I'm far more interested in male styling than female styling.

    7. I prefer boys, I think that is because I find them more pleasing to the eye and over all attractive.

    8. After having almost no interest in girl dolls for years, now I have almost the same number of girls as boys. 5 boys, 5 girls, with one boy on the way. How did this happen?! I think the moe bug got to me.

    9. I have two girls. I was wanting a boy... But in the end I am deciding to get another girl instead. For e boy bjd's are an iffy thing, since it isn't the easiest to make them look manly and when I want a male doll, I want it to look like a man, man not feminine. That s just my own personal preference though.

    10. As much as I want to say I have no preference, I have 6 girls and 1 boy. So, yeah, it looks like I prefer girls.

Currently I'm looking for another boy. I say my next will be boy, and I've been looking mostly at boys, but just about every time I end up looking at girls too. Who knows which will come home next!

As for why I prefer girls, I really can't say. Maybe it's the clothes, maybe I can come up with characters easier since I think like a girl, maybe I just like the prettiness. Who knows? It is what it is.

    11. I have no interested in male dolls - I mean, in their bodies. Because it's a bit common for me to see the head of a male doll and think, "wow, what a beautiful (female) doll that is!", and then I look at the body and it turns out that it is actually a man u_u"

I'm not sure why I prefer female dolls. Probably because of the possibilities when it comes to clothes and make-up, and their overall features.
Of course, I could buy a female-looking male doll and dress him in splendid skirts and corsets and put on some fabulous makeup and etc. and people wouldn't notice unless they saw him naked... But that it's not something I'm interested in doing, I don't know. I don't even look at the "boys" section of BJD sites, to be honest.

    12. I don't have any dolls as of right now, but I plan on changing that soon! XD When I get my first, I wanna get a girl, because I fell in love with a couple Luts girls. I probably won't get those, but I definitely need a girl to start. However, I plan on equaling it out, because I also really like the boys.

    13. I prefer the guys, but I do have plans to get a girl eventually. It all comes down to the look of the dolls. So far I've found more guys that I like but that could change of course :).

    14. I realize I like the boys more and more each time I look at them I keep finding boys that are just simply...Perfect for lack of a better word. I'm saving up for another boy as I speak. I dunno why...I love girls all the same but there's so many lovely ladies to look at (and I got four of my own) and so little of certain boys that I feel compelled to go for the boy dolls more. Especially Resinsoul and Bobobie. I haven't met an RS/BBB boy I haven't liked. Though I do want a Minifee boy eventually....

I don't know why either...My guy is hard to sew for and finding the right wig can be hard same goes for shoes but I just...I just love 'em. They're so gorgeous in their own way.

I do want more girls eventually I got plans for Resinsoul Mei/Fei twins.

    15. I prefer the girl sculpts better because I think curves are way more interesting than muscles. Also as a woman I feel like I relate and bond with them better. :D

    16. I love both of the gender even i just have boys for the moment. and if someday i get a girl, i will not play them as couple, brother and sister would be much better to me. XDDD

    17. I don't have a preference. I love my girls and boys. There's an even amount of both sides in my room atm. XD

    18. The doll I'm currently looking for is a girl. I guess I prefer girls.
I wouldn't actually mind owning a boy. I love the body sculpts for them but the faces don't quite cut it.
I'm more into manly men and BJD guys tend to look like boygroup members..
though I do wonder what a faceup can do to change that...

    19. You know, I didn't think I had a preference, but I only have girl dolls, so clearly I was wrong! Haha I think the large variety of clothes is what draws me to the girls.

    20. I think I like girls best. There are very few male dolls that I even think I could want.
Mostly because they all look creepy, feminine, or have droopy eyes.
Girls are more likely to have the really cute eyes and shapes.
