Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. I do prefer girl dolls to boy dolls, for myself. There have been very few male dolls that like. I really just have more appreciation for the female form and fashions then males, honestly.

    2. I own all female dolls at the moment, but I have my first two male dolls arriving soon. Up until this point, I've found that most of the time I just love the look of the female dolls, while I find only a few male dolls I really love the sculpt of. I just avoided actually buying the male dolls because I didn't know how to approach the subject of the anatomy of the male dolls with my mother. As the dolls would all arrive at my house, I can only imagine her reaction when she would open the box! However, she's now fully aware of the fact that BJDs are anatomically correct, so the arrival of my boys won't matter.

    3. When I first started in the hobby, I told myself that I would only collect boy dolls. And I did, for the first few years.. but then I fell in love with a female sculpt and now I find that I really enjoy collecting girl dolls! I've also discovered that I enjoy 'shopping' for my girls more than I do my boys.. XD Which is interesting.

    4. When I decided to buy my first bjd I knew that it was going to be a boy doll. The reason behind this decision was very simple:
When I was a little girl it was so hard for me to find a boy doll that would suit my taste. I had no problems with buying different kinds of girl dolls because I liked many of them. They all had beautiful long hair, big eyes and pretty dresses. I think that I liked most of the girl dolls that I had a chance to hold in my hands, but it was very different with boy dolls. Most of them didn't have hair (the hair was just painted so it was impossible to brush it), their outfits were very simple. Because of that I had many girl dolls and only two boy dolls.
While I was looking for my first bjd I thought that I finally had a chance to fulfill my childhood's dream and buy a handsome boy doll.
Now I have fulfilled this dream and I think that I've finally found my perfect boy doll. Actually I'm starting to think about buying a girl bjd too (and I even know which doll could it be:aheartbea)

    5. I typically browse for male bjds over female. I've always had female dolls and wanted to finally have some male bjds.
I also typically enjoy styling males over females.

    6. I'm more interested in girls, mainly because I find them easier to dress. I'm also very girly, and I like being able to give them long hair and cute makeup. :) However, that's not to say that I don't love male dolls... I am hoping to own a boy someday, too.

    7. I also prefer girls to boys. They seem to be easier to customize in general and there seems to be more stuff available for girls. I also haven't seen a boy I really like yet, I always tend to go to the girl's section first. Maybe I'll find one I really like someday.

    8. I think I probably prefer Boy BJD, I have several boys and only one girl with an extra girl head, I personally don't know why this is, Maybe because I write my own books and I like to try and find dolls that fit the looks of my characters? Personally I think its normal though to gravitate more towards one gender of BJD.

    9. I prefer boys to girls, for the most part. Right now I have 8 boys, and only two off topic girls that I haven't really bonded with. I do want to get a couple resin girls in the future though. But I have so many more resin boys ahead of them. I tend to completely glance over female sculpts when I'm browsing too. It takes a really special female doll to capture my attention enough for me to take a look at her. And even more special for me to not want to make a body swap to make her, a him.

    10. I am a bit funny.... in concept I prefer boys, at least I have always found male characters appealing and they were among the first BJDs I ever bought. Unfortunately, in practice a male character has never worked out for me.... I think female characters are easier for me to relate to and identify with I guess, and plus, I personally find it much more fun buying female clothes than male. :D

    11. Most of my dolls are boys, even though I like girl and boy dolls equally. The point is that there are simply not that many female molds that speak to me and - since I love to hybridize - there is only one female body I like that is easy to mix/match.

    12. I love my gals. Don't think I would ever get any male sculpts at all. Not now, not ever.

    13. Am definitely drawn to girl dolls, but I like to explore male dolls and to be honest I think It's a must for me to own at least one male doll !

    14. Sure. I live with exclusively female dolls and expect to always do so. I have a couple male outfits as a way to get some pants, but that's as far as it goes. No interest in the guys otherwise, at least for me.

    15. I used to only own boy dolls, I never thought iI would really want any girl dolls at all since my little resinsoul boy was so adorable! I even got a mei and even though she was cute I never really loved girls dolls all that much.

And then I got my Minifee /unoa hybrid girl. Now I have mostly girls, the minifee body really made me love my girls, not to mention the talented artists who make phenomenal clothes, like Eglantine and such really made me 100% love my girls even more. Plus I honestly have more fun sewing for girls, since I love to embellish!

    16. I have always preferred girls. Never found a boy doll that grabbed my attention enough to want to own them I guess. I was the same when younger, no boys . ;)

    17. Seems I like girl dolls more than boys. I think it's because I think the girls are just made cuter. I do have one boy and I LOVE him, but I still like girls more. Plus you can find a LOT more clothes that you like for girls than for boys.

    18. I have always bought my dolls with the idea "If I like the mold, I buy, boy or girl. Gender does not matter". But now I have noticed that I just like male dolls more. I've had couple girl dolls and only one managed to stay. So, I prefer boys more. Dunno why tho. It's not like I feel that they are easier to dress or something. I have always created male characters more than females, myabe that has something to do with it.

    19. Well to be honest I tend to go with girls. Very few boys had gotten my interest. The only two male dolls I really like are modded. I also don't like girls with glamour body

    20. I like more the boys. I usually prefer male characters than female. I try to balance because I want variation, but I still have more male characters than girls since it's difficult for me to find female molds I like.
