It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. I have two characters in mind who I want to immortalize as BJDs, one of each gender. I find it much easier to find a female sculpt in most brands that "would work". I'm *much* more critical of male dolls, because few sculpts have all of the qualities I'm looking for: an expression that could look dangerous or romantic depending on angle, eyes not too wide, an adult nose, would look good with dramatically arched brows, a late-teen or adult body (mostly about limb/torso proportion, ideally muscled chest and forearms). Furthermore if I show my husband a doll and he says "that's supposed to be a guy?" that one's out (sorry, DoD Orrl :(). I much prefer making girl clothes, and I'm sure he will have two wigs and a few outfits, and I'll spoil her with dresses, wigs and shoes.

    2. I don't have a doll yet, but I think I will get more girls than boys. For me it's easier to give a girl a real, not mary-sueish character though I don't really know why. During an RPG my boys will always slowly slide into that one typical behaviour, while my girls always differ from each other o3o
Still I hope to get at least one boy as well, because they're simply gorgeous ^^

    3. I've got boy dolls, and so I suppose I prefer them. It's not that I dislike girl dolls, I played with plastic girl dolls when I was young, and so I'll probably get one one day. I just haven't found one I really like.

    4. I used to think I would only get boy dolls, but currently I have three girls and one boy. The boy is a floating head, and I'm debating whether or not to just get him a female body and re-do his face-up. Eventually I'll have some boys, but right now I like my sassy troupe of females :)

    5. I am really not interested in boys. For one thing, the super muscular resin chests creep me out a bit. Otherwise I am happy with an all girl crew. The only Boy i MIGHT ever own would be a Soom Dia boy... thats it

    6. I...want male dolls. I just don't often find them and think MUST HAVE. That's more the girls. I guess I don't want them very feminine looking. Not that they need to be rugged or anything, but clearly male. I've actually found 2 that aren't home but are on the way, a DC Hugh and IH Ryan. Perhaps I just find it easier to look at the girls and get in their heads, as I am a girl. Oh, and I like to sew dresses. I'd like some diversity, though, gender wise.

    7. I prefer girls, although in saying this I have never even seen a boy doll in real life (unless you count a dollzone leo, which I don't. Esp considering I have made mine female!). I see boy sculpts I like but it's strange territory for me! It's almost like starting all over again in the hobby, if that makes sense. I just wouldn't know what to do with a boy!
Like posing. I simply wouldn't know how to pose a boy, and I think that would make me feel limited in what I can do with him.

    8. Im only drawn to girl dollies really. I had one boy but recently sold him (even though he was a tiny tiny boy doll). I just don't know what to do with them, lol :D

    9. Lessee ... one girl home, one floating girl head, second girl ordered, two more girls planned ... see a pattern yet? :sweat There will be guys, too, but later. For one thing I find it harder to decide on sculpts for the dudes, for another I don't want them to be too huge (which largely rules out EIDs which in turn have the most appealing faces ...). Females feel easier to shell. I'll need them for the photostories though and I've got a few costume ideas (for the fantasy line mostly) so boys will definitely happen ... a select few, that is. In the end the ladies will probably outnumber the gents 2:1.

    10. So far I only own one male doll, everyone else is female. No idea why though... We'll see if that will change one day...

    11. I have girls because I don't want to sew tiny pants. =D

    12. you know, i thought i'd prefer male dolls over female ones, but as I grew in this hobby, I love the girl dolls. I love dressing them and taking pictures of them more than my male dolls. I guess I just really love the feminine figure some of the dolls have ^.^

    13. I tend to prefer boys, but I would like a girl too. When it comes down to it though I always end up choosing a boy doll over a girl doll.

    14. I tend to prefer girl dolls, in part because it's a lot easier for me to create and design female characters. Granted, I only have one doll, but all of the sculpts on my wishlist are female. I think it might be cool to have a boy doll, but I'd prefer one that's not Hollywood perfect and muscled or very thin and androgynous. I'm sure there are boy sculpts out there that would fit my tastes, I just haven't found them yet.

    15. I like girl dolls more, and funny enough, it took me a while to finally get girl dolls I liked!
My first BJD was a boy, and for the longest time I thought boy dolls were the best, but when I started to get girls I had so much more fun with them!
I feel like I get so much more variety in clothing and accessories - that may just be my characters though. My girls are a little more eccentric than any of my boys :B

T_T I do love pretty frilly lolita dresses tho.

    16. While my girl nd boy counts are getting more even, I have to admit I do treat my dolls a bit differently, according to 'gender'. For no apparent reason, I usually find myself prefering the male dolls. I just do. But then again, I allso usually rather hang around guys than girls, so I guess I'm just like that. I'm allso much more picky about my girl dolls. I do love them as much as boys, I just handle guys more. If that makes any sense.

    17. I used to prefer boy dolls. Boys would be the ones I wanted, the ones I liked to look at while browsing the doll companies' sites. But lately I find I'm much more into girls, especially little girls, cute and pretty, with little chubby hands. Might be a phase :)

    18. I prefer females in general. I like to dress them up :)

    19. Here's the existing discussion thread about this topic:
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...ONLY-buying-Male-amp-ONLY-buying-Female-Dolls

I only collect male dolls. I like the way they look & I love dressing them up.

I have no use for females being used as ornamentation in my own house, since I already get quite enough of that from the mass media every day. Too many female sculpts just look vapid to me, and too many of the clothes make me cringe (so many companies offer a choice between North Vegas Whore or Pink Babydoll, which dichotomy of femaleness is getting reeeeally tiresome). Though I gotta say I love some of the shoes. <3

    20. Heh! Jenny, I hear ya.

I like girl dolls, but I do have a terrible time dressing them!! Often I give up on a doll if I simply can't give it the look I had in mind. I can sew, but I don't have much room and am lazy, so it's nobody's fault but my own!! XD

I have one little genderless fellow I think of as a boy (though he's wearing pink sandals atm and likes them very much, thank you). And I have another little boy (Little Jr Mars) on the way.

Whichever gender I have, I tend to like kid dolls. If my dolls are so mature, they can get a job and buy their own clothes!!! D-:<
