Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. I only collect girl dolls :fangirl:. I don't know why, but boys just don't interest me at all. I guess firstly is that I only have Dollfie Dreams, and they are only female, but I have no desire to customize a male one (quite a popular trend going on! :))

I've been looking at some resin tinies and I realize it's not really even about the sculpt either - perhaps more of the make-up? Even if the sculpt is the same, I tend to gravitate towards the female versions of those sculpts. I also love frilly dresses and none of my current girls are tomboys...so perhaps that also affects it? I prefer girls for everything though...when I play video games I always have a party full of girls so it's no wonder I only buy girl dolls ahahaha :sweat

    2. When I first started looking at dolls I was convinced I'd never get a female doll. In my mind I didn't like them. It was like every female doll I saw had a weird face or I didn't like the fact that they had over exaggerated breasts. Of course my first doll was male but he was definitely on the feminine side. It wasn't until I saw the "right" female doll that I was like wow I have to have her. I still have more male dolls than female, but I don't limit myself.

    3. I've been in the hobby for about three now and for the first year and a half or so my collection was all male! Then my tastes completely changed and I sold all my boys but one :O To this day I have all girls and one boy. From here on out I don't think I'll ever be able to have just one gender. Even thought my current collection is mostly girls, I don't think I would be happy if didn't have any guys but lately I've been finding them very hard to customize so having just one boy seems to working well for me. I doubt I would ever go back to a predominantly male collection, but if I did, I don't think I would be able to sell all my girls either. I could maybe see my collection balancing out in the future, but I'm really into girls right now!

    4. I've only ever owned female dolls, and until only recently I'd come to the conclusion that there simply weren't any male sculpts that I felt particularly fond of.
...then, of course, I learned of the wonderful world of anthro dolls. Now I have two boys on my wishlist. However, I still prefer female dolls over male.

    5. I have mostly boys. This is mainly because I base most of my dolls on characters of mine, and most of my writing focuses on M/M relationships. But the novel I'm working on has a couple of female characters, and I have another storyline featuring a band with two guys and two girls, so I have a few girls now.

    6. I actually love the boys and wouldn't mind having all boys, but the only boy I own isn't even home yet. I mean the girls are okay, I just find the boys to be a whole lot more intriguing (maybe because i'm not one?).

    7. I have 3 girls, two are obitsus and I dont give them the same attention as my resins now i have them... Currently I have two boys and two on the way, so resin wise (prefer them over vinyl really) I lean to boys more... but then agen the characters I have are mostly male so thats why XD

    8. I currently have a girl and a tiny sexless anthro cat that I wanted to be a boy, with a third boy on the way. I do not particularly prefer a sex or the other. I love to have as much variety as it possible and sewing for both males and females in different styles. I'm trying to keep a 1:1 proportion between males and females in my collection and currently in my wishlist there are other two girls and another boy doll.

    9. I definitely prefer the male dolls. But I certainly intend to buy a girl at some point, later.

    10. I used to prefer male dolls, there were about 5 of them around the house... and then Soom released Amber, and I failed to resist ;)

    11. If I could buy all the dolls I wanted, I'd probably have an even number of boys and girls. I love them both, and I have such a huge appreciation for both genders and the type of dolls companies make for them. There's just such a great variety! :D

    12. I drool over boy dollies, but prefer girl dollies. I still want just one boy dolly, and will give him a harem, probably

    13. Stupid DoA. I used to be content with only buying one girl doll - maybe a twin for her. Now I'm coming round to the idea of a boy doll.
I hope you all know this is all your fault and I blame every single one of you completely. :P
Of course, I'm joking. But seriously, when I started out, I only wanted girls because I've only ever really liked girl dolls. Boy dolls just didn't make sense to me. But then, I've seen a few sculpts that I just think are gorgeous.

I prefer girls just because I love their faces and their figures. I've always found boys a bit foreign. I still do. But I guess, as I become more familiar with (human) boys, I'm coming around to the idea of owning a boy doll.

    14. I just really like boy dolls for some reason. My favorite things ever are pretty lacy floofy lolita dresses, yet I still only buy boys.. in pants >v<
Currently all my dolls are boys, but I do want one or two girls just so I can dress them up in gorgeous dresses and use that as my outlet for pretty things.
I don't really think my collection will ever switch to become predominantly female, I just love boy dolls too much.

    15. For now i have only two dolls both male, and somehow, at least for now i'm planning to buy more male dolls. Some of female dolls i've seen are really beautiful but it's just not my thing, i think it would be less fun in dressing/customizing them. Maybe it has something to do with the way i also play computer games - always choosing nice looking male characters...

    16. I tend to buy more girls only because most of my dolls are characters that I have RPed, and the majority of characters I've RPed are girls. I can pretty much fit all the boys I've had onto one hand (I just barely make two if I acknowledge one male character is an Else World version of one of my male characters. XD I've had two boys I haven't played that are kids to two of my characters... so that's what, eight?) I have two boys shelled and one on the way, which I am super excited about. :) I have decided I should start playing more boys because I do love boy dolls too (which is the reason that my newest boy was created... and may have a doll planned XD)--I just gravitate to girls characters. XD

    17. I only have girls, and have no plans of ever owning a boy. I like to dress my dolls up and fuss over them a lot, and I don't like girly boys so I feel like having a boy would be boring

    18. I don't think I could ever own a boy... Maybe some day, but so far, I haven't really seen any that I want. I'm more of a girl-person :D

    19. I have soon to be ten boys and one girl. Occasionally I think about getting a boy body for the one girl head, making her a boy. It has not happened yet and more than likely won't. So yeah I definitely prefer boy dolls to girls.

    20. I don't bond easily with boys. Maybe that's because when I used to draw, I only drew girls because I could never come up with good designs for boys. It's the same way now. There is just far more variety for a girl doll than there is a boy, unless you get creative or have a very feminine male. My boyfriend is very feminine, and he constanly complains about the lack of mens fashion. At least he has cosplay, haha! But, none of my boy characters dress that way. So I guess I find them boring :( However, I am making my msd boy into a scarecrow so he's pretty interesting to me now! Gotta get creative with these things, I reckon.
