Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. I have always preferred girls for whatever reasons. Very rarely are there any boy sculpts that appeal to me, and it would be ignorant to say that they all look the same, because they certainly don't! I just happen to find certain aesthetics that are more common in girl dolls to be more pleasing. I'm sure one day I'll find a boy that I'll fall head over heels for.

    2. I just seem to gravitate to girls more then boys...I just realized recently that my girls out number my boys both in how many and clothing wise.

    3. i prefer girls since there's so many more options for clothes, i think. i like cute dresses and tops and there's more colours to pick from. boy's clothes is grey, black, white, maybe blue or green. but i like having options like purple, pink and more styles. it seems boy's clothes is really limited.

    4. As cool as I think so many boy dolls are I admire them from afar. I am just drawn to the girls. Its like having a child . I have a real life boy. he wasnt too fun to dress:(

    5. I prefer the lady dolls to the gents, but that's purely down to the fact I come at it from an art doll point of view - I personally feel that there is more scope for creative decoration with the ladies (make up, clothes etc.) but that's only because I like my gents to look like gents and not be confused for girls :)

    6. I only have girl dolls right now. I might in the future get a boy. Since I have 2 Lady Amalthea dolls I would like to get a male to be Prince Lir.

    7. Girls, definitely girls. I don't know what I'd do with boys. Girls have all sorts of frilly dresses and long hair to style. Short of doing like a Victorian vampire, I feel like there's not much for me to do with boys, since I have no interest in feminine looking boys. Can't really do realistic facial/body hair on a doll.

    8. I am another girl dolly owner! I don't know why, I just like them more. I don't really dress myself in anything other than for comfort, so having girl dolls allows me to let my girly side out and get creative with my girls. I do believe I will own some boy dolls, but my collection will be female dominant.

    9. I prefer boys of course x3 but girls are more easy to dress up than boys and they has more accessories, shoes and another cute things. And it's true that girls are more easy to custom.
XD I prefer boys but I have more girls. My idea at the beginning was only boys, but nowadays I have more females.

    10. I prefer boys. There are just more male sculpts that appeal to me than female ones. But I would love to have at least one girl in the future to put in cute dresses!

    11. I prefer girls, I bought a boy and now I'm contemplating selling him after 3 months, he's just not as fun for me to sew for or experiment with faceups as all my girls are :) but at least I tried and I'll hopefully find him a loving home!

    12. I don't prefer one gender over another, but because of how picky I am, I have a lot more boys than I do girl dolls :sweat (The only problem is, I love the clothing options girls tend to have, but I don't think any of my male dolls would look good in feminine attire.) I tend to pick dolls based on both overall aesthetic and posing, so I have to have the "perfect" body or "perfect" head. I've yet to find a mature female body to fall head over heels for, so until then, I just have a slowly developing host club

    13. I wouldn't say I "prefer" one sex (and it's sex, not gender, because gender is a mental concept versus biological sex. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine... ^^;) to the other, but I do tend to have more females than males. I'm not sure why, it just seems to happen that way. I guess I can do more with them?

    14. I seem to prefer the boys. All my dolls to date are boys. ;) I love male characters. Don't get me wrong, I like the girls too. But have yet to get a girl doll. Boys just are too cute.

    15. Haha ditto! I have much more ideas for boys than girls
in this particular hobby. I do own an equal amount of
boys and girls character wise though and I find it difficult
      to shell girls though.

    16. I don't know why but it happened that I bought 7 boys and only 2 girls in the end. :XD: Every time I search or look for a new doll, my eyes stop unconsciously at male dolls only and I do know more about male than female molds...Ehhh??? Maybe this is called "attraction and preference".

    17. I think I am slightly more drawn to girls but purely as already mentioned they are so versatile with clothes etc, I can take one girl doll and put her in a long wig and lolita style clothes and she's really girly girl and then I can take all of that off and put a short wig, some shorts and a vest on and instant (tom)boy. I suppose I could do the same with boys (put a dress and long or girly looking wig on) but it's just not the same for me. Funnily enough at the moment I have 3 boys and 2 girls but I am on the hunt for another girl, I'd like to keep my numbers even but yes definitely a slight preference towards girls.

    18. I have looked at girl dolls and seen a few sculpts I find cute as such but, I don't know what it is that the dolls I seem to have a great love/want for all happen to be boys. ><

    19. My preference seems to depend on size, sadly.

My 1/4s trend toward girls, while my 1/3s trend toward boys. I think its because 1/4 boys tend to look very young or girly, and I like my men to look like men UNLESS they really are meant to be underage.

1/3 boys have more of a chance of being a manly sculpt, but the girls are hard for me to fall in love with because they seem like amazon ladies and kinda manly, in my opinion. XD

But I do have one 1/4 boy and my eye on a 1/3 girl, so for intents of this thread, I guess I have no true preference.

    20. I much prefer girls over boys. Half the time I mistake boys for girls. Girls are much more versatile.
