Preferring one gender of doll over another

Dec 9, 2012

    1. So far I only have girls and prefer them, but I do have an Iplehouse boy on my wishlist... ;)

    2. I used to like boy dolls when I started, mostly because no girl appealed to me back then.
Now, I'm all about the girls as I find they're more fun to dress and customize.

    3. I definitely only enjoy the female dolls. The males actually creep me out a bit. Not sure why.

    4. I think I answered this question a long, long time ago.... But I am alright with either gender; I can relate to female dolls better because we share the same gender. But both are lovely.

    5. I only have 2 girls out of 25 dolls..
It's hard for me to love girls sculpt since i'm tomboy girl, so maybe my preference is boys.. Girls, for me, is expensive since they should have dresses and so on..
While boys, they can just naked.. Hahahaha

    6. I'm not sure which I like best yet, I'm actually waiting on a bit and a girl doll. One thing I really like is that a lot of the heads are pretty androgynous. And since they're my dolls they won't really have to be confined to a gender. A thing I've noticed with a lot of dolls on tumblr is that many doll owners have very feminine male dolls. I'm not sure exactly how that's become the norm (not that it bothers me or anything), I just think it's interesting to note.

    7. While I feel like I don't have a preference, I only have 1 guy out of 6 bjds. I do play to get more guys, I just haven't found the right ones. I'm very picky about my guys, that could explain why I only have one.

    8. So far my main interest has been in female dolls because I have more interest in female clothing/accessories and the craft aspect is a main part of it for me. Not to say that I wouldn't make male clothing for girl dolls, though :)

    9. I know most people prefer boy doll, but I acutally like a girl doll. I can't really choose the gender.

    10. I have 11 dolls at home, and 1 of these is animal, 1 is sexless tiny (even character has no gender), and from rest 9 only 2 are males. So I can say I prefer females - and I'll probably do so in future, too. I look male dolls, and they all feel like 'meh' (my two males are important characters in AiA, so I "had" to have them).

    11. I totally prefer boys over girls. I have a boy and a girl. I always find myself looking at the boy sculpts more than the girls. I wasn't originally planning on buying Genevieve (my girl BJD), but my husband kept telling me Julian needed a girlfriend haha. I think he just wanted the girl doll around. He always says that she is the most beautiful doll he's ever seen (and he isn't into dolls). Don't get me wrong, I love Genevieve, She is a beautiful doll. But i prefer to have boys. I think from now on since I have a girl now, I will buy boys unless a girl just really catches my eye. I just love how they look.

    12. Right now I have a boy with another boy on the way. I have noticed that I do tend to look at boy sculpts much more than girl sculpts. Most of my characters tend to be boys, I feel like that's passing into the hobby. It's not that I don't like girl sculpts, I just don't fall in love with girl sculpts as easily as I have with male sculpts. I do hope to add a female doll to my family in the future, if I really fall in love with her. :)

    13. I love boy Dolls! Maybe one day Ill look into getting a girl but for right now none have really clicked with me.

    14. I prefer boys because most of the girl faces I like are on large chested bodies and I like small chested girls more. I might end up with a DC girl one day, but right now it's definitely boys.

    15. I only seem to like girl dolls at the moment, but I'm pretty new to this hobby. But even with the other types of dolls I collect, I have no boys at all of one type and the other type, it took me a long time to get any boys. I just prefer girls I think!

    16. Personally, I don't really have any preference when it comes to doll genders. I think both have their own advantages and perks.
Although, I guess when it comes to finding clothes for dolls, I think I prefer female dolls, seeing as I think it's easier to find clothes [dresses, accessories, shoes, etc.] for them compared to male dolls? At least that's what I've noticed when I browse for doll clothes. xD

    17. So far I only have girls, but my next dolls will be male. I am wanting to do matching male and female historical costuming. Perhaps famous historical couples.

    18. :( i like my girl doll but i think her purchase was more out of guilt than anything else...i had a gang of guys and no girls <.< .
i bought her, did maybe 4 photo shoots with her but nothing else...i'm definitely a sucker for the guy dolls, especially the large 70+ cm ones >.<

    19. Boys appear to be my preference when it comes to dolls. Not that I have anything against girls. In fact, after seeing so many cute girl dolls and constantly coming across adorable girl clothing for them, I would like to one day have a girl doll. But since all of my dolls thus far have been based upon characters and I tend to make male characters, I end up with boys. I shall break the cycle one day...! Hopefully...

    20. The majority of my collection is girls but I recently got two boy dolls and it has been an adjustment.
